Refreshing entertainer
22 November 2021
Really enjoyed a malayalam movie after a long time. Director has created a different experience with this movie. The comedy is of a different kind and it grows on you. I am sure most people would want to watch it again and again.

A refreshing subject, a refreshing movie
30 January 2011
I am usually a fan of all Shyamaprasad movies. Ritu, is his 1st movie which is not an adaptation of any other work and the script is also not written by him.

Ritu(Seasons), asks a very pertinent question - Seasons change, do we?

The 3 characters in this film have been very good friends since childhood and dreamed of continuing their life journey together. When Sarat returns from US after 3 years, he is yearning to fulfill those dreams with his friends. But, on arrival he finds that his friends - Varsha and Sunny, have moved on and have changed a lot. He passes through a phase of uncertainty, trying to identify his true calling and adjusting to the changes happening in his personal life.

The performances from most of the new comer artists are average. No one really stands out. Music is good and suits the mood of the film. But the star of the film is most definitely the script, which builds the characters and plays with the emotions and internal conflicts. There are no over the top emotions on display, the film grows through the small tensions among the 3 friends.

Overall, the scriptwriter and director needs appreciation for coming up with a refreshing script and capturing the sentiments of many an expatriate malayalee, who always yearns to come home and follow the dreams he saw, together with his friends and family. But, seasons change.....do we?

Movie that changed my life
12 January 2007
If anyone asks me which is the movie that changed my life I will certainly say that it is KAUN. I saw this movie when i was 14. What caught my attention about this movie was the distinct and innovative approach that varma and team took.

To make a full length movie with just 3 characters for instance is something really special. Can u imagine a Hindi movie taking place completely inside a house?? and no songs or romance for that matter. The script keeps it simple and engaging till the end. The direction is truly amazing. It never keeps you boring . It entertains you and keeps one guessing...

To add on to all these excellent performance from the 3 actors - urmila was really superb...she always is in ramuji's movies , manoj was at his excellent best and sushant singh completed the perfect cast. In my opinion varma and kashyap were the real stars . It was an audacious attempt which will be remembered for a long long time.

The climax was the best part of the movie and is a stroke of genius. After seeing this movie I was so impressed that I became a fan of Ramuji from then on. The fact that so much can be done with direction and scripting in a movie impressed me the most.

I think this movie should have affected some others too. Please try the movie if u haven't

One of the best Indian movies
11 January 2007
This has got to be one of the best movies both in malayalam and in India. superb script combined with beautiful direction and acting has made this movie a treat to watch. I have watched this one numerous times..don't even remember the number. As many I was also disappointed to see its remake in other languages. I think they spoiled the beautiful concept and feel of this movie. Sobhana who got a National Award for this movie should have been given a second one after seeing the way other actress performed her role in those remakes.

Its one of the dream movies which doesn't come very often...Perfect from all points of view - story, dialogues, performance, comedy, songs and direction..

Please watch it if you haven't already.

one of the best underworld movies of Indian cinema
16 May 2006
This has to be one of the best underworld movies ever made in India. After the disappointment of jungle and mast Ram gopal varma has bounced back to deliver one of his best works. It rivals his own earlier work Satya. Though based on the underworld both films are completely different as his own words put it company is above the underworld unlike satya.

the direction, camera and background score are superb. the cast consisting of Ajay Devgan, Mohanlal and newcomer vivek oberoi perform exceedingly well. After having seen oberoi's later works this performance is easily his best. while Ajay Devgan lives the role to perfection, the Malayalam super star Mohanlal brings a breathe of fresh air by enacting the coolest and most realistic cop Hindi cinema has ever seen. the screenplay written by jaideep sahni is of highest quality. superb dialogues are well delivered especially by Ajay devgan and mohanlal. on the whole a different movie with artistic and technical perfection.
