Blue Eye Samurai (2023)
Alongside with Love, death and Robots the best animation !
I thought, ok, one more "adult" animation! Let's give it a try!
Magnificent! The story was great and I won't repeat. There are a lot of reviews telling what happens.
I.was impressed by the type of the animation! It has a classic feeling! Not realistic but comic like! Camera movement, the scenes, face expressions all excellent for my taste!
The main, Tarantino like character, seeks to punish the people who made him/her as is!
I was excited and loved every episode! As this type of staff (animation, violence, etc) I watch them alone, in this case, when I understood what it was about, I begged my wife to see just one complete episode and that was it! She also loved it! By the way, she never slept on the couch as she usually does when she watches the series that she normally likes :) And this is by itself a very rare exception for someone who prefers just romantic comedies and mild action movies!
Yes, there is violence, nudity, sex but all on the right dosage, adding to the main story!
If you liked Love Death & Robots, my favorite animation of the last decade and Tarantino movies, you will find a perfect blend on this one!
I can't wait for the 2nd season!
9,5 out of 10. (My tens goes to a very small group of movies/series)
Aseudal Yeondaegi (2019)
A really great epic drama!
What I love about Korean series among the superb acting, cinematography, original stories, etc is the fact that almost ALL of them have an ENDING. Most of them have a start, middle and end. They have 16-18 satisfying 1,5 hour episodes of a single season and that's it! You go to the next series fulfilled.
Arthdal Chronicles is a really great story. The plot is really carefully constructed and the character building is great.
Of course it reminds Games of Thrones but it has its own personality!
I really loved it. The only thing that is inadequate is the music score. It was deserving something better.
But...there is a BUT!
It has no ending!! WTF! It's 2022. Three years after the 18th episode and there is no new season. So, I guess we invested hours and emotions, we bonded to the characters...for nothing?
I'm really disappointed!
Mr. Church (2016)
One of the best dramas I've seen the last few years
The "Eddie Murphy" next to "drama" got my attention. Never heard of that movie title before!
This is one rare example from a movie that you know it's good from the fist scene!
It was not good! It was great!
For me, the best movie of Eddie Murphy. The entire cast was perfect. The pace, the music in the right time...the emotions!
Yes, the story is predictable but this is how you want to be! Life makes circles, people come and go but usually the friends you make in school years are the ones you keep in your whole life.
Mr Church is a movie that you have to see, preferably a cozy warm night with your husband/wife.
I loved it! 8/10 (My 10s are given to a handful of movies. 8 is a great rating for me)
Marianne (2019)
Incredible!
It's the first time that I felt chills to my spine after many many years watching a thriller! I find them all more silly and funny than scaring. Not this one!
There are a lot of reviews explaining the story, acting performance, etc
I just want to say that if you would like to really feel scared...watch it!
42 °C (2021)
Full of potentials, but...
The acting is good, especially from some of the lead actors.
The location and scenery is SUPERB.
The story is very nice and the characters interesting.
BUT the edit of the series is crazy. Obviously the director and the editor were drunk. I don't know, but there are times that we have flashbacks in times without logic or reference to know in which time period you are.
Ok after few seconds it's clear where you are but it's really annoying, because this happens in several scenes.
Overall it's a quality series to watch but it could be much better. Its really pity!
Do the edit from scratch and release it again!
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
What I always wanted to see in animation
I loved S1! It was the only title that never removed from "my list" even though I watch it almost 2 years ago.
Now I am in the middle of S2, taking time between episodes, just because I want to last longer :)
The stories, the different types of animation technics, the whole approach to this creation is mind blowing!
As a kid I loved books with strange, short stories and series like the Twilight Zone.
In addition to my love to comics, LD&R is an exhibition of all these combined.
Not all stories are great but each one of the viewers will find different stories to love. This variety is what makes it even more interesting! I don't know what to expect in every episode and there is something there for every taste.
Of course I would love to see few, if not all stories, longer but this is not the point.
The photorealistic animation is great and I absolutely loved stories like the Secret War, The Witness and the Snow in Desert.
I didn't like few of the stories but I enjoyed them all. Even with the stories I didn't like much a second view uncovers new details and things that stand out.
For all the animation lovers, comic enthusiasts, mystery and Sci-Fi fans, LD&R is a must!
The 9/10 is a great rate for me. My 10 goes to a very small club of movies and series I've watched.
Immortals (2011)
A mix of stories and images just to have a nice 3D battle.
When I go to see a movie I always do it in the first couple of days from 'avant premiere'. I don't want to be influenced, positive or negative, by anyone particular for movies 'highly anticipated'. So in 'day 2' I went to see 'Immortals'.
I really didn't knew what to expect, except the obvious similarity of '300' cinematography.
What I saw was a storyline similar to TV series 'Xena the Warrior Princess' or 'Hercules' A world with creatures similar to 'Lord of the Rings'. Come on guys the Titans looked like Orcs? The 300 cinematography/style.
And to make my point clear here comes the necessary 'spoilers'. Are not going to uncover anything crucial from the movie (there is nothing not expected anyway) but I have to refer a couple of things.
So, let's start We are not talking about history or any kind of time-line here. It's a mix of ideas, worlds, stories.
I can disregard the African Greek priestess or the going to be girlfriend Portorican (again Greek) priestess.
I can disregard the black officer in Greek army. Why not put i.e. a Chinese like Jet Lee?
Here I want to make clear that I don't have any issue, problem of racial type, etc It's the same if in a Chinese epic movie of, I don't know 'Sever Swords' you put in the middle of action a West European general or Eskimo warrior. DOESN'T FIT. So simple.
I can disregard the fact that king Hyperion want to release the 'Titans' however when he makes it, he has no power or influence upon them. Why he did it in the first place??? I mean he has a powerful army already!!!
I can disregard that also his army of 2.000.000 as it looks like (the total world population was about 20-30.000.000 at the time. Anyway
I can disregard that the most valuable prisoners he had, the priestesses, been send in a small house (not even a prison) placed in a desert with a couple of soldiers as guards and what a miracle, Theseus was also send there. Ridiculous.
I can disregard that Zeus kills another god because he interfering in 'humans affairs'. But that was the Gods did all the time.
I can disregard that the Titans where miserable creatures like Orcs or the Gollum. Titans were also Gods lost the great battle.
But I cannot disregard the fact that in a movie addressed to children up to 15 or people with IQ up to 85 was necessary a 'soft porno scene'. It's a cheap trick to made it spicy? I really don't know.
Was that scene necessary with any influence besides the fact that the virgin priestess will not be a virgin any more?
There are a lot of flaws, there were, however, also good points. The photography of the film is very very good. The battle of Gods and Titans was what I was expecting to see. Epic!
Are these 5-7 minute worth it in order to see the film? I don't think so! They don't even deserve the gasoline spent to get to the cinema by the car.
Concluding Very poor movie. See it if you are a retard. See it if you want to spend a couple of hours seeing smashing skulls and bones (from this point of view it's really nice actually. Pure blood bath) See it if you want an excellent 5 minute, 3D battle of Gods vs Trolls (for sure not Titans). Don't see it with your kids. See it if you are a comic fan but with no any kind of expectation in terms of characters, storyline, placement in time and space etc.
Got a 5 which I consider an excellent rating for this movie. And this is just for the 5 minute fight.
There is no reason to speak about actors etc. They did what they could according to the script, plot provided. They were... nice.
