Family Guy: Oscars Guy (2022)
Season 21, Episode 1

It seems like the B rate jokes of these films
26 September 2022
I was excited to see these parodies- but Family Guy has already done parodies/gags of these films in the previous seasons so it felt weird to recall those jokes more than the ones presented here.

Not the strongest season opener. Family guy continues its hit and Miss style of from episode to episode.

If I had to rank them, which I seem I have to go get the required characters needed to post this, I would say the order is forest being the best- then silence and then American Beauty.

I hope after this and HBO-No last year that family guy doesn't continue these treehouse of horror three episode schticks. It's just a bit lazy.

'S#!%house' was a warning shot
24 January 2022
This follow up to 2020's biggest surprise debut is not only a better film in almost every way (and I loved S***house), but it's such a beautiful open armed hug of a film.

Cooper creates lovable characters that I cared for from the opening frame, and it was just so nice to meet them.

Solid script, great minimalist direction, effective indie stylings and some great music- and you have one of the first great films of 2022!

Everything falls apart
1 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Watcher says he can't intervene, but he does earlier in the episode? Dumb This episode has no consistent logic, and it's argument of not being able to change the past to the point of insanity is completely against Endgame's plot that did this.

4 episodes in, and it's just a weird tumblr fake head cannon show that really wastes potential.

If you are going to end an ep like this make it make sense-

Yeah I think I'm done.

'Really great hair'
25 August 2021
Look, 3 eps in and while I understand the question 'what if' the show should be more concerned by 'why'- what are the moral messages here? That things find a way to work out? That good will always win?

It's a very bizarre addition to the MCU, each story has no real impact.

Also if you can't get ScarJo/evans and RDJ (which I'm sure is more attached to the not wanting the big cast after their contracts ended, and not the black widow fiasco) at least bring someone with an energy or character in their voices.

Two episodes in- what's the purpose.
18 August 2021
The Twilight Zone of the MCU this isn't- which may not have been the purpose but it's coming across that way with the character The Watcher that opens and closes each episode.

The reason for why this isn't working for me is that aside from saying 'what if' the series isn't using these concepts for anything meaningful. Yay Disney brought back these characters, but they just spout some famous lines (or in this episodes case, have Thanos argued out of his plan by T'challa- making Endgame a little less interesting), and then that's it.

The storyline doesn't really amount to much except for a heist episode that just delivers on all the cliche's of the Rick and Morty's Heist episode.

Overall- there needs to be a great reason for this show other then just 'here's those characters again' and swapped in places. Where's the themes? The messages? The overall point?! MCU is gonna burn itself out with more projects like this.

So much potential wasted
30 March 2021
There's a great show here, and this episode- which forces a game as an excuse to have characters say how they feel rather then show it- is one of the reasons why it doesn't get there.

Unlikeable teens growing through experiences is a great subject for drama, but this show never lets them act for others but only for themselves.

How is this the penultimate episode, what drama is really left? They expect so much for 'themselves' but give nothing back to others.

What a mean spirited show.
