The Cuckoo (2024)
Too many continuity errors in the final episode
Was enjoying it as a lightweight drama. Too many "Oh for Gods sake you wouldn't ever do that" kind of moments. I.e they're looking for their daughter but just start off walking, don't even try to ruin at first, park the car ages away etc... The continuity errors in the last episode couldn't be more obvious if you held a bloody knife to them. I genuinely want to know how to be a continuity person in TV because my pride wouldn't let programmes with this level of attention be released. There was some good acting but not across the board, the police officers for example looked as bored as a bored person who lives in Bored street.
Maestra (2023)
Superlative drama
Wow, wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. I was caught up in the whole classical music world without realising it. Fabulous cast, it's a pity that more of them are not credited on this IMBD site. If this was an American cast series I'm sure there would be a full cast listing. The plot is fabulous, it has more twists and turns than a Disneyland theme park. The relationship between Mr Yoo and Cha Seeum is so beautifully acted, its subtle to the extreme, thoughtful and tender. You can see where his love comes from and where he wants it to go. The themes are so multi-faceted too, adultery, passion, obsession, jealousy, love. It's all there. The music during the end credits is beautiful too, it's owned my eyes to Korean music. Just watch this, you'll want to binge watch it too.
Bank of Dave (2023)
Just watch it. So so good!
The nicest, beautifully acted heartwearming film I've seen in a very very long time. Joel Fry is stunning in this, geeky, gawky natural, sensitive and subtle. The dynamic between him and Phoebe Dynevor reminiscent of that first love awkwardness. Rory Kinnear is also great, not seen him before. I will watch out for these 2 actors from now on. The whole film has a great message about community. Incredible that it's based on a true story. To see the part that Def Leppard play is mindblowing. It's so natural in places it seems improvised in the best possible way. There are very few films I would watch again but this is one of them.
