The Grove Theater opens its 2011 season with this Black History Month production of Ntozake Shange's viscerally powerful, Tony Award-nominated drama that explores the experience of being a woman of color in America. Conceived as a choreopoem -- a series of poems choreographed to music -- the play features seven women, each representing a color of the rainbow, whose interrelate stories explore their societal and personal struggles.
