The Death of Jack Hamilton
Based on the Stephen King short story of the same name, we follow John Dillinger, Homer Van Meter and Jack 'Red' Hamilton after their narrow escape from Little Bohemia. In the midst of a chaotic shootout with federal agents, Hamilton is shot in the lung. The gang ventures across the American midwest in a desperate attempt to evade the law and to seek medical attention for the injured Hamilton, who is slowly succumbing to gangrene and dementia. They find refuge with Chicago bar owner Brian Mooney and eventually Barker-Karpis gang members Arthur "Dock" Barker, Volney Davis and Edna "Rabbits" Murray. Hamilton's condition quickly worsens, forcing the gang to perform a makeshift operation on the dying man, with disastrous consequences. An existential coming-of-age drama set against the backdrop of 1930s America, offering a unique perspective on one of King's greatest works and America's most notorious outlaw.
