"SubMAN"
Logline
"A good man losing everything, finds more questions than answers from his support group, - then his nightmare begins."
Synopsis
Ryan Hobbs (Simone Leorin) is stuck in a long term Substitute Teacher assignment.
Once a dedicated, energetic teacher, he now puts up with the daily rancor of disinterested students.
His men's group does little to help him cope with the loss of his career, his marriage, and now possibly his son.
Due to staff limitations, he is left alone to supervise the students on an intern project, except for one young office administrator in training, Ms. Davis (Rachael Kevin) when suddenly, a disgruntled delivery driver (Dave Foubert) shows up demanding immediate attention!
Background
This film, shot at the Christian Brotherhood Academy for the Arts and Sciences in Tacoma, WA, was created in one week for the 168 Hour Film Project. The dedicated, volunteer cast & crew were incredibly inspiring to work with. The theme for this movie was based on a Bible Scripture, Psalms 34:18, and speaks to maintaining faith in the midst of despair, which can ultimately prove the most powerful ally of all.
