Top 11 best ゴジラ films.

Godzilla 2014. CONS: 1. Was played way to safe, didn't have the dark atmosphere that the trailers showed. 2. Godzilla didn't get a set up, he is brought into the film by exposition, and then randomly appears. 3. It should have been a Godzilla only film, should have saved the monsters for a sequel. 4. There are no ground shots of Godzilla, we never see people looking up at him and running away with him in the background. These shots would have increased the urgency and fear, but all we get is distant shots of him from above or level with him. 5. Aaron Johnson not showing any form of emotion or anxiety, no shaky hand or uneasy features. He's look" oh look a monster, what ever". "Oh my family is in danger, meh". It really p-sses me off, the halo jump scene should have been the decent into hell, but you really just don't care what happens to these soldiers.

PROS: 1. Godzilla, you are just in awe of him, he looks real, and is designed flawlessly. 2. MUTOS, I really like these monsters, they look like they could exist. 3. Cinematography, it's great, it knows what to show, how to show it, how to tease it, and how to present spectacle. 4. The original score is knocks it out of the park. So much grandiose emotions and tension. 5. Supporting cast, there are some really good actors here, they may not always deliver, but you enjoy seeing them here. 6. The visual effects, my god, monsters have never been so convincing in a Hollywood blockbuster since Jurassic Park. 7. Sound design, everything is so well done, that I would be shocked if it isn't nominated for best sound mixing and best sound editing

Ah, I remember the time when Godzilla was all I needed, I must have been three or so when I first saw one of these films, and I still cherish and love these films to this day. Here is a list of films that either I remember most dearly, the ones I would watch over and over again, or the ones that simply deserve a mention.

TOP 10 TOHO MONSTERS: 1. Gigan 2. King Ghidorah 3. Rodan 4. Angiurus 5. Destoroyah 6. Biollante 7. Space Godzilla 8. Kiryu 9. Orga 10. Megalon

TOP 5 ゴジラ designs: 1. GMK 2. Burning Godzilla 3. Millenium Godzilla 4. 1985 5. Godzilla against Mecha-godzilla

Raymond Burr's speech at the end of 'Godzilla 1985': "Nature has a way sometimes of reminding Man of just how small he is. She occasionally throws up terrible offspring's of our pride and carelessness to remind us of how puny we really are in the face of a tornado, an earthquake, or a Godzilla. The reckless ambitions of Man are often dwarfed by their dangerous consequences. For now, Godzilla - that strangely innocent and tragic monster - has gone to earth. Whether he returns or not, or is never again seen by human eyes, the things he has taught us remain..." -Raymond Burr

Iron he treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood. Arrows do not make him flee; slingstones are like chaff to him. A club seems to him but a piece of straw; he laughs at the rattling of the lance. His undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge. He makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment. Behind him he leaves a glistening wake; one would think the deep had white hair. Nothing on earth is his equal, a creature without fear. He looks down on all that are haughty; he is king over all that are proud."

Number 1: The finale to the 90's series, and it goes out on a bang. The special effects are top notch. Increadible monster fight scenes in store, seeing Destoroyah spewing blood everywhere simply looks awesome.

Here is my review- Well, I'm starting to go through a Godzilla craze again, going through some of the films, and spending large sums of money on collectibles. I have this pretty far up on my top 10 list, so I thought I'd give it another watch.

The characters are the same old same old, except for Emiko who keeps showing up. The plot is simple, not much else to say. But the monsters are what makes this film one of the best in the series. Burning Godzilla is one bad ass design. Then we got Destoroyah, who looks like the devil when he emerges in the flames in his final form. This movie is classic nostalgia, the sound effects during the horror esc shootout with the police and small destoroyah bring back so many memories. The action is pretty good, but it is annoying how Godzilla gets knocked down 5 times during the final fight. The whole part with junior Godzilla getting killed before he reached Godzilla made me cry as a child. It still is pretty sad. It makes you wonder how Rodan gave his life force to Godzilla a few films back, it looked like Godzilla tried that, but I don't know.

I was surprised at how violent this film is, it's down right brutal at times. Godzilla getting his flesh sliced off from destoroyah's horn thing. Or destoroyah's chest being blown open with blood flying every where, then having half of his face blown off. There also plenty more gory moments. Damn, this is PG-13 worthy material.

It still holds up fairly well, it still remains one of the best films in the series.

2. Godzilla (1954)

Although it may not be my favorite, you gotta give credit where credit is deserved. This film sparked a franchise that never stops. There are currently 28 films so far, but with a new american one coming out, the japannease won't be too far behind. Check out this classic. I hate these f-cking idiots that use the term cardboard models, have you seen these films, does it look like cardboard, my god...zilla.

Read my review.

I judged this film in the past, but after just watching it again, I must say it is awesome. There are very little complaints to be had, in a matter of fact, there is nothing I find bad about it. Even with all the comedic effects in the final fight, it just adds to the enjoyment factor, because you can laugh at the goofy-ness.

I really like the time line this film has, it's great to see recreated footage of the first film. I don't know why, but I really like how Godzilla was portrayed in this. He wasn't random, like he was every other film. He only came up to destroy stuff when he sensed radiation or plasma. If anything, the humans are more aggressive than Godzilla. He's just chilling out in the middle of the ocean, and uh-oh, there's the humans. Out of all the films, this one you could make a commentary out of what he was thinking. It's funny how humans release a meganula because of their dimension tide machine. I want to know what's on the other side of the black hole, there's a lot of possibilities. Anyway, some dumb ass kid picks up it's egg, and brings it with him to Tokyo. And he just ends up dumping it into the sewers, because he had super human strength to lift up the man hole. So it hatches, it eats some people, and now there is about a thousand of them. When they swarm Godzilla, it reminds me of mosquito's swarming me when ever I go out side. The final set looks great, the fight is pretty good, their was a lot of funny moments. So Godzilla saves humanity from being over run by a Mega-whatever you call it-guirus threat. And how do they repay him, well trying to suck him up into a black hole. And there's also the plot about stupid humans being the only reason Godzilla keeps entering Japanese soil, instead of just chilling out in the ocean. But luckily for Godzilla, the dimension tide failed, and he still walks free. The ending was very well done, it puts a big smile on your face that Godzilla is truly unstoppable. And I should mention that the music is very good.

So looking back, this film was one the most well done in the series, it just feels great to watch and it's a lot of fun.

8. Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989)

PG | 104 min | Action, Fantasy, Horror

Votes: 7,935

The birth of the monster rumble. four monsters, including the one and only King Ghidorah. Then we got mothra and rodan. Throw in Godzilla and you got yourself the recipe for chaos. It's not the best, but it is fun.

10. Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)

Votes: 5,737

You may ask, why in the world would I put this in the list. It's quite simple really, Gigan. Gigan is my fovorite toho monster, he looks bada**, and where have you ever seen anything like him. Of course it has another favorite of mine, Angirus, if I even spelt that correctly.

11. Godzilla 2000 (1999)

PG | 99 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

41 Metascore

Director: Takao Okawara | Stars: Takehiro Murata, Hiroshi Abe, Naomi Nishida, Mayu Suzuki
