by OmegaDeity | created - 08 Feb 2013 | updated - 14 Feb 2013 | Public

These days we ARE DROWNING in First Person Shooters. Even though I think there should be more variety in games today. The FPS genre does have some of my favorite games of all time. RULES 1. Only one per franchise 2. Open world games are included 3. Skyrim, Minecraft, Amnesia, SLENDER, and Portal are not FPSs 4. If your favorite isn't on here or not number one, DON'T BE A WHINY LITTLE BITCH. THIS IS MY LIST OF FPS GAMES I WOULD RECOMMEND TO YOU. NOT YOURS!!! 5. This list was made in February 2013.

This game. THIS *beep*ING GAME. Is easily in my Top 5 of all time. For the 12 people who have a PC, 360, PS3, or Mac OSX who haven't played this game. GET THE ORANGE BOX >:-O!!!! An excellent story, unique weapons, a great cast of characters, the best graphics in 2004 (Even over Far Cry), A wonderful soundtrack (Even if a lot of the songs are from Half-Life 1), a crapload of modders on the PC version, all within a 15 hour campaign (on normal difficulty). The entire Half-Life 2 saga is more than enough to make the number 1 spot. Oh, and Valve, to any developers of yours that might be reading this, MAKE EPISODE 3 ALREADY D-:<!!!!

Old-School, baby!! One of the game franchises that forever changed gaming, Doom and Doom II has risen to a legendary status as two of the greatest games of all time. And for good reasons too. A "Who gives a damn" story, fun and challenging levels, millions of mods, good soundtrack, and the pixelated graphics have held up to the test of time. Plus Doom is on like, a wide variety of platforms.

"What a shame" that I can't put this game in the top 3. An excellent story, a lengthy campaign that has multiple ways to complete, an ok soundtrack, tons of weapons, and... dammit! Now I have to go and reinstall the game again I'll be right back *One reinstall and playthrough later..*.

With a total of 100+ hours spent on this game and counting, this game had me hooked from the start. It isn't perfect as the character animations are CRAP, I did encounter some glitches, and the game doesn't have a whole lot of weapons (Thank you modders :-D). But still, all RPG fans should pick this game up.

What was quite possibly the best looking game on a console at the time, Killzone 2 really makes you feel as if you are controlling a human, not a floating camera with arms. "WHA??? BF3 NOT IN TOP 10 OR NUMBER 1??!!! GO BACK TO COD YOU STUPID *beep* AND KILL YOURSELF!!!!" Now hold on, the multiplayer is KICK ASS and a lot of fun. The reason for this being so low is because the single player is cliched and terrible and the co-op is just meh. But still if you are a fan of competitive multiplayer games you should definitely buy the Premium Edition.

OK, now THIS game was an improvement over GoldenEye. Better gameplay, a good story, a huge arsenal of killing machines, and highly customizable multiplayer. Sadly, even the 360 version of this game has bad A.I., Poor voice acting, guns that sound like crap, and some frustrating missions.

Oh, GoldenEye 007 for the N64, you were my first FPS, sadly this game has not aged well AT ALL. It is a fun and challenging game with addictive multiplayer, but seriously, I can look past all the nostalgic memories and firmly acknowledge this game as a dated FPS THAT NEEDS TO BE REMASTERED!!!

YES, I KNOW this game is the reason why the FPS genre was popularized. And I thank this game for the influence it had on gaming in general. But, playing this game today, it has an awful level design, a horrible soundtrack, and it is more frustrating than challenging.
