This is a list of the top twenty actors that my friends and I believe would be best suited to portray the characters of the TV series Archer in a full length, live action film based on the series.

1. Aisha Tyler

Actress | Archer

Aisha Tyler is an award-winning director, actor, comedian, New York Times bestselling author, podcaster and activist. She is an Emmy-winning television host and multiple award-winning voice actor for Archer (2009).

Aisha's feature directorial debut, Axis (2017), was shot in just seven days on ...

She has stated publicly that if there were to be a live action remake of Archer that she would "cut anyone who tried to take this part from [her]," so of course she would be best suited for the part of Lana Kane which she voices in the animated series.

2. Chris Parnell

Actor | Rick and Morty

Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Chris Parnell enrolled at Germantown High School where he took drama and auditioned for every play. In 1985, when he was a senior at Germantown, he was voted "Most Talented" by his classmates. Right after graduating high school, Chris attended North Carolina ...

Chris Parnell voices the character of Cyril Figgis, a nerdy accountant who desires to be a field agent. His character is complete with thick horn-rimmed glasses, a witty yet awkward demeanor, and some form of history with almost everyone in the office (especially the ladies). He has the look, the comedic ability, and (obviously) the voice to pull off the part of Cyril in a live action remake.

3. Jillian Bell

Actress | 22 Jump Street

Jillian Bell was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She began studying improv at the age of eight. She graduated from Bishop Gorman High School in 2002, and then moved to Los Angeles, where she became a member of the Groundlings. She auditioned for Saturday Night Live, and though she did not join the ...

She has the look and the comedic ability to pull off Pam Poovey, the crude and cantankerous Director of HR for ISIS. Also, despite her lack of of both size and big screen experience I think she could bring an incredible nuance to the dolphin puppet that Pam is so fond of using.

4. Melissa McCarthy

Actress | The Heat

Melissa McCarthy was born in Plainfield, Illinois, to Sandra and Michael McCarthy, and was raised on her family's corn and soybean farm. She began her performing career as a stand-up comedian in New York where she appeared at the famous clubs, Stand Up New York and The Improv. She worked on her ...

Another (more widely accepted) choice for Pam, Melissa McCarthy is really moving up in the comedy world with hilarious performances in movies like Bridesmaids and Identity Thief. Her attitude on screen and her voice would make her an almost perfect choice for the character.

5. Jessica Walter

Actress | Arrested Development

Acclaimed actress Jessica Walter was born on January 31, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Esther (Groisser), a teacher, and David Walter (his original surname was Warshawsky), a musician who was a member of the NBC Symphony Orchestra and the NYC Ballet Orchestra. She was of Russian ...

The voice actor for Malory Archer in the animated series, Jessica Walter also did a wonderfully funny job with the character of Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development. Therefore, I believe she would fit perfectly in a live action remake... as long as she was willing to grey her hair.

6. Michael Gough

Actor | Batman Forever

Tony Award-winning English actor Michael Gough, best known for playing the butler Alfred Pennyworth in the first four Batman (1989, 1992, 1995 & 1997) movies and for playing the arch-criminal Dr. Clement Armstrong in The Avengers (1961) episode "The Cybernauts", was an accomplished performer on ...

When I thought of who would be good for the part of Woodhouse Michael Gough instantly popped into my head (maybe it's because I just finished watching Batman Forever). Unfortunately, for both he and I he died in 2011. Moving on!

7. Max von Sydow

Actor | Flash Gordon

Max von Sydow was born Carl Adolf von Sydow on April 10, 1929 in Lund, Skåne, Sweden, to a middle-class family. He was the son of Baroness Maria Margareta (Rappe), a teacher, and Carl Wilhelm von Sydow, an ethnologist and folklore professor. His surname traces back to his partial German ancestry.

...

So seeing as how Michael Gough isn't able to play Woodhouse my next choice was Mr. Max von Sydow. You may know him from his recent performances in movies such as Shutter Island and Robin Hood with Russell Crowe or from Minority Report with Tom Cruise in 2002. He has the voice, he has the look, and he is a talented actor who I believe could pull off the character.

8. Thomas Lennon

Actor | Reno 911!

Thomas Lennon is a writer and actor from Oak Park, Illinois. He attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he was a member of the influential sketch comedy group The State. The State's hit television series ran on MTV for three seasons and received an Ace Award nomination ...

You may know Thomas Lennon from his character in Reno 911 (both the series and the movie). He's a wonderful improv actor and an incredibly funny guy so I believe he would be a perfect fit for the character of Ray Gillette, ISIS spy with talent and sass.

9. Michael Fassbender

Actor | Shame

Michael Fassbender is an Irish actor who was born in Heidelberg, Germany, to a German father, Josef, and an Irish mother, Adele (originally from Larne, County Antrim, in Northern Ireland). Michael was raised in the town of Killarney, Co. Kerry, in south-west Ireland, where his family moved to when ...

Although he was rasied in Ireland Michael Fassbender is German born to a German father. The character of Dr. Krieger was "born" in Germany although he may be a genetic clone of Adolf Hitler. Fassbender has recently appeared in large roles such as Magneto in X-men: First Class and David in Prometheus so maybe this role is a bit small for his current momentum but he has the look, the voice, and the acting ability.

10. Sacha Baron Cohen

Actor | Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

British actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen was born in Hammersmith, London. He is the son of Daniella (Weiser), a movement instructor, and Gerald Baron Cohen, a clothing store owner. His father, born in England and raised in Wales, was of Eastern European Jewish descent, while his mother was born...

You probably know him as Ali G, Borat, or Brüno but Sacha Baron Cohen has actually played other characters in movies like Talladega Nights and Les Misérables. He would be almost perfect for the character of Dr. Krieger. My only problem with this casting is that Krieger is a very supporting character, somewhat of a background character. Cohen tends to make himself noticed in a big way with his larger than life personality when he plays any role. If he could keep it toned down, he could be Doctor 'Algernop' Krieger.

11. Alison Brie

Actress | GLOW

Alison Brie was born in Hollywood, California, to Joanne (Brenner), who worked at a non-profit child care agency, and Charles Terry Schermerhorn, a musician and entertainment reporter. Her mother is Jewish and her father has Scottish, Dutch, English, German, and Norwegian ancestry. Brie grew up in ...

So this decision was rough. I couldn't really think of anyone who would be perfect for the part of Cheryl Tunt so I settled for Community star Alison Brie for one of my choices. She's funny but I don't know if she's Cheryl funny.

12. Kristen Connolly

Actress | The Cabin in the Woods

Kristen Nora Connolly is an American actress. She is known for her roles as Dana in the 2011 film The Cabin in the Woods, Christina Gallagher on the Netflix series House of Cards and Jamie Campbell on the CBS series Zoo. Connolly began her career with recurring roles on several CollegeHumor digital...

Another choice for the role of Cheryl Tunt is Kristen Connolly who you may know from the movie Cabin in the Woods or maybe something else she has been in that you may have stumbled upon. No, she hasn't been in much, but she looks the part and I have faith in her ability to pull off the character.

13. Matt Bomer

Actor | In Time

Matthew Staton Bomer was born in Webster Groves, Greater St. Louis, Missouri, to Elizabeth Macy (Staton) and John O'Neill Bomer IV, a Dallas Cowboys draft pick. Matt was raised in Spring, Texas, and educated at Klein High School, near Houston. After school, he attended Carnegie Mellon University in...

I'd like to believe that an Archer movie would include at least an intro filled with back story and, besides Mallory Archer and Woodhouse, I can't think of anyone in Archer's past that's as close to him as Lucas Troy, Archer's best friend and fellow spy. Matt Bomer has the dashing good looks and the well-built physique to portray Lucas Troy in a live action adaptation.

14. Ryan Gosling

Actor | Blue Valentine

Born Ryan Thomas Gosling on November 12, 1980, in London, Ontario, Canada, he is the son of Donna (Wilson), a secretary, and Thomas Ray Gosling, a traveling salesman. Ryan was the second of their two children, with an older sister, Mandi. His ancestry is French-Canadian, as well as English, ...

Blond, attractive, and incredibly hilarious, Ryan Gosling certainly fits the description for Barry Dillon, ODIN spy, cyborg, and arch enemy of Sterling Archer. The voice may not be exact but he has an incredible acting ability which he could use to make the character his own and I believe he would be great for this part.

15. Jensen Ackles

Actor | Supernatural

Jensen Ross Ackles, better known as simply Jensen Ackles, was born on March 1, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, to Donna Joan (Shaffer) and actor Alan Ackles. He has English, German, and Scottish ancestry. Jensen grew up in Richardson, Texas, together with his older brother, Joshua, and a younger sister, ...

I think the only thing that led me to this decision was the look but Jensen Ackles definitely has one thing in common with Barry Dillon - his experience with sci-fi. Ackles gained his fame through the series Supernatural while Barry is a cyborg. Close enough, right?

16. Jeffrey Tambor

Actor | Transparent

Jeffrey Tambor starred in Amazon Studios hit series TRANSPARENT, playing family patriarch "Mort Pfefferman," who over the course of the show becomes the unforgettable "Maura." Tambor's groundbreaking performance earned him two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a SAG Award and a Critics' Choice ...

I'm not sure what capacity ODIN would have in an Archer film but I'm sure if they were involved in any sort that Len Trexler would be there, swooning over Malory Archer. Jeffrey Tambor is the voice for Len Trexler in the animated series and if you told me that the character was created specifically for him I would not be surprised at all.

17. Peter Stormare

Actor | Fargo

Peter Stormare was born in Arbrå, Gävleborgs län, Sweden, to Gunhild (Holm) and Karl Ingvar Storm. He began his acting career at the Royal National Theatre of Sweden, performing for eleven years. In 1990 he became the Associate Artistic Director at the Tokyo Globe Theatre and directed productions ...

I was having some trouble finding an actor to portray Nikolai Jakov, head of the KGB, so I did some research. I wasn't sure about Peter Stormare's ability to pull off this part until I watched an interview in which he looked and sounded almost exactly like the character. Then I remembered some of his past performances and I was convinced that he would be more than adequate for this part.

18. Jeffrey Donovan

Actor | Burn Notice

Jeffrey Donovan was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, son to single mother Nancy Matthews. Nancy raised him and two of his brothers, while having trouble financially supporting herself and her family. They were reportedly living on welfare, had trouble paying electric bills, and often moved to a new...

Of course Sterling Archer was the hardest to cast and Jeffrey Donovan is not the perfect choice. However, he does have plenty of experience playing a spy from his character in the USA Network series Burn Notice. He has the beauty. He has the brawn. Does he have the comedic ability OR the voice? That remains to be seen. Still, it's worth considering.

19. John Barrowman

Actor | Torchwood

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, and raised in Joliet, Illinois. He returned to the UK, for a 6 month Shakespeare semester with the United States International University of San Diego, but left to star in the musical production of "Anything Goes," with Elaine Paige. He went on to star in "Miss Saigon," "...

All you Whovians will probably be satisfied with my top choice for Sterling Archer. John Barrowman, famous for his role as Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood, is a wonderful actor, a super funny guy, and he has the looks to pull off Archer (especially the trademark cleft chin). He's currently my top choice for the role.

20. Burt Reynolds

Actor | Boogie Nights

Enduring, strong-featured, and genial star of US cinema, Burt Reynolds started off in T.V. westerns in the 1960s and then carved his name into 1970s/1980s popular culture, as a sex symbol (posing nearly naked for "Cosmopolitan" magazine), and on-screen as both a rugged action figure and then as a ...

Well if you've seen the show you know that Archer often references Burt Reynolds and who would be better for a cameo appearance than The Bandit himself?

21. Kenny Loggins

Soundtrack | Footloose

Kenny Loggins was born on January 7, 1948 in Everett, Washington, USA. He is a music artist and actor, known for Footloose (1984), Caddyshack (1980) and Top Gun (1986). He was previously married to Julia Cooper and Eva Ein.

I'll tell you who! Mr. Danger Zone, Kenny Loggins. We all know that the song would HAVE to be in the movie so why not go a step further and just put Loggins himself in the film.
