Black Mirror episodes, best to worst.

10/10 Unusual for (early) Black Mirror, for only being based on existing tech, the impact and rawness of this 1st episode is just brutal. I can understand why this episode was so divisive; Despite having almost zero on-screen violence, nudity or sex, it manages to evoke some EXTREMELY disturbing imagery. But that's its strength, not a shortcoming.

10/10 The final boss of cancel-culture Twitter-mobs...

10/10 S4 was mostly disappointing, but went out on a winner- Reminded me of old sci-fi/horror anthologies like the 60s Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, or Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

10/10 Black Mirror being Black Mirror, in it's best, purest form- exploring the personal/social repercussions, of a plausible technology, that could be just a few years away.

9/10 Classic Black Mirror morality tale- Like a 21st century, sci-fi version of EC horror comics from the 50's.

9/10 Most viewers apparently hated this ep, but although its' lean, simple, bare-bones story was a departure for the series, and much less 'high concept' than most eps, I still really enjoyed it.

9/10 Another well-executed morality tale, similar to White Bear and White Christmas. What BM does really well (as well as excellent use of speculative tech, to drive the story), is screw with the audience, using moral ambiguity, or changing moral perspective- At first, we feel sympathy for the MC, assuming he was watching normal porn, and is just highly insecure... but the 'big reveal' that he was watching CP, changes the whole moral landscape of the episode

8/10 I kinda feel like this one is already happening; We ALREADY live in a world where a single Tweet can potentially transform ANY ONE of us in to a despicable, vile, evil creature, barely deserving of being called "human", in the eyes of millions/billions, regardless of how compassionate, or egalitarian, or unprejudiced, or charitable you may be in real life.

5/10 the first truly cringey Black Mirror ep. When BM is good, it's great... but when it's bad, it can produce awkwardness that is just off the charts.

4/10 There's a few of these sugary, po-mo romance-story episodes, and they suck. It's like watching a 52 minute ad for greetings cards. Or, if some decided to turn an Ed Sheerin music video, into a TV episode. Bland, over-produced nothing-ness.

3/10 More sledgehammer-subtle political preaching, from the same paper-thin, Mary-Sue character we see leading the cast in 99% of 2020's tv/movies (the quietly ultra-competent ethnic girl who everyone understimates, ignores, and/or walks all over... who lacks confidence, but who secretly has ALL the skills needed in EVERY situation... if only those dang omnipresent racists/misogynists hadn't always held her back...)

1/10 This one actually has decent "so goddam terrible, that it's entertaining" value. I love the way it offended EVERY minority group it attempted to pander to; Black people got mad at the 'Buck-Breaking' storyline. Trans people got mad at the no-stakes way it treated trans-ness like a special move in Mortal Kombat. Well-intended, but we really deserve a higher standard of PSA, to warn the youth that video games will turn you homosexual. 1/10
