My friend Ronnie Apteker produced this gem. If you like movies about the underdog making it, you'll love this story also set in the modern day Johannesburg aka Egoli, the city of gold. Intense and gripping from the opening scene to the end.

Maybe the best South African movie ever made in my opinion. Certainly it stands out for it's depth of story telling, the character development and humour. Aliens "land" above Soweto, the largest black township west of Johannesburg and chaos ensues as the world tries to understand this phenomenon. A breakthrough for the lead actor and director who've both gone onto Hollywood in a big way. This was also the most expensive film made in my country at $30 million budget from Peter Jackon's production company.

Another gem produced by my friend Ronnie Apteker. Riaad Moosa stars as a son of a Indian-muslim shopkeeper in Fordsburg, Johannesburg - a suburb known for it's muslim and Indian culture. A story about family, about father and son, about old and new South Africa, and finding your voice. Beautiful, funny, emotional, deep and surprising at moments.
