Netflix was building up their series The Witcher, which is inspired by a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, to be a major franchise. In addition to the flagship show, they made the anime film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and a prequel mini-series called The Witcher: Blood Origin, with another anime movie called The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep and a couple other spin-offs in the works… but now it looks like it’s all winding down. As The Witcher season 4 heads into production with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia from former star Henry Cavill, Netflix has announced that season 5 will be the end of the show. And while The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is still expected to be released through the streaming service by the end of 2024, Redanian Intelligence and What’s on Netflix have learned that two other spin-offs, one...

Netflix has never been shy about putting experimental TV on its platform, as seen with interactive specials like “Bandersnatch.” Now, the streamer is playing with the medium’s episodic format with “Kaleidoscope,” a new anthology series set to premiere New Year’s Day.
“Kaleidoscope” is loosely inspired by a real-life story of 70 billion in bonds gone missing in Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy, focusing on a group of thieves as they undergo a multi-decade-long plan to pull off the perfect heist on a seemingly unbreakable vault. The first season features eight episodes, with each installment bouncing around a 24-year timeline from when the crew’s preparations began to six months after the heist day itself.
Uniquely, with the exception of the finale — which depicts the actual heist itself — every episode of the series is designed to be watched in any order, and the show randomizes the experience so that each viewer...

Netflix just unveiled a batch of new photos from the upcoming second season of the fantasy series Shadow and Bone. The streaming service also confirmed the eight-episode second season will launch on March 16, 2023.
“The most wonderful thing about season two is that we get to advance the story of these characters that we’d left in precarious positions at the end of season one. There’s a lot of potential for them this season. They have to face the consequences for their actions, and then they get to meet new people along the way,” explained co-showrunner Eric Heisserer in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “The Grishaverse also expands in this season, both in mythology and in characters. A new Netflix anthology is on the way and it's likely to put a spin on your typical water cooler discussions. "Kaleidoscope" is certainly the kind of show you'll want to unpack with your friends: it's got high stakes, lots of intrigue, a mystery, and action-packed criminal hijinks. There's just one problem. Should you discuss the miniseries with someone before either of you has finished, you'll quickly realize that something is off: neither of you will have seen the same episodes.
"Kaleidoscope" isn't your average Netflix series — it's an immersive experience. Unlike most shows, this series was designed to be watched in any possible order. In fact, Netflix itself will be scrambling the episodes so that each viewer watches the series unfold in a different way.
While this is certainly a new approach for the streamer, this non-linear series isn't too far off from its prior experimental endeavors. The streaming...

It’s Stand by Me meets Stranger Things meets The Wizard of Oz meets Terminator. Reminiscent of several nostalgic ’80s sci-fi touchstones, Amazon’s Paper Girls brings a fresh element to the classic archetype: time travel. And as if time travel weren’t complicated enough, Paper Girls follows an all-out time war, with four girls at the center of it all.
Based on the comic series by Brian K. Vaughan (who also wrote the series Saga and Ex Machina), the Amazon show brings four newcomers into the spotlight, as they prepare to headline their own show on a major streaming platform. Sofia Rosinsky, Riley Lai Nelet, Camryn Jones and Fina Strazza hold it down as the titular paper girls — a group of 12-year-olds delivering early-morning newspapers in Stony Stream, Ohio, in 1988.

Her name is Jessie Mei Li (she/they) and, though she’s a relative newcomer to the world of mainstream entertainment, that seems poised to quickly change. YouTube released the official trailer for the second season of “Impulse,” the thriller from executive producer Doug Liman, which returns to the service next month — when it will be available to watch for free with ads.
The entire first season of “Impulse” is now to watch free on YouTube, and season 2 will premiere Oct. 16 in front of the paywall with new episodes weekly under the video giant’s new release strategy for originals.
In “Impulse,” Maddie Hasson stars as Henrietta “Henry” Coles, a rebellious 17-year-old girl who has always felt different from her peers and longs to escape from her seemingly quaint small town. During a traumatic event, Henry discovers she has the extraordinary ability to teleport, and her newfound power confirms Henry’s conviction that she really was different from everybody else — but it now makes her the focus of those who want to control her.

Yes, I’ll concede that the current season of Legends of Tomorrow has a lot going for it, but you have to admit how the inclusion of John Constantine helped boost interest in the series. After his own show was unfortunately cancelled by NBC after only 13 episodes, Matt Ryan’s iteration of the exorcist has become an unexpected and welcome addition to the Arrowverse in the time since.
Because of his continuing popularity, there’s just a certain level of excitement surrounding each episode of Legends that has a significant focus on Constantine. In fact, he’s proven to be key ingredient in season 4, seeing as how so much of it is based in magic and the fantastical, not to mention how this year’s big bad, Neron, has now taken on the likeness of John’s ex-boyfriend.
So, if you’re a fan of the trenchcoat wearing badass, then...

In the eleventh installment of our ongoing video series, senior editor Rob Licuria and “Outlander” fan Paula Licuria dish the highs and lows of each episode week to week of this chapter of the fantasy romance saga based on “Drums of Autumn,” Diana Gabaldon’s fourth novel in the series of books (watch above). We’ve also hosted recap and analysis videos for the first episode, second episode, third episode, fourth episode, fifth episode, sixth episode, seventh episode, eighth episode, ninth episode and tenth episode.
In “If Not For Hope,” the eleventh episode of season four of the Starz hit drama “Outlander,” Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Young Ian (John Bell) embark on a long and uncertain journey to rescue Roger (Richard Rankin), while Brianna (Sophie Skelton) forges a friendship with one of Jamie’s old friends as she fends off Aunt Jocasta’s (Maria Doyle Kennedy) attempts to secure her a husband.

Ever since Mehcad Brooks was originally cast as James “Jimmy” Olsen for Supergirl, I and others couldn’t help but notice he didn’t quite have the nerdy appearance we’ve come to know from the character. In fact, I maintained from the beginning that he looked much more like a superhero.
In fact, I remember some fans using crafty photo editing to place Brooks as Val-Zod, the Superman known from Earth 2 comics and, trust me, what I saw was quite believable. And although James may not be Kryptonian, I’m guessing the producers working on the series noticed the actor’s impressive build along the way, perhaps influencing them to evolve him into the Guardian.
After giving criminals on the streets of National City one more person to fear throughout season 2, Olsen has since taken a step back from the vigilante lifestyle in season 3, instead focusing on his duties of running CatCo.

Promo photos for next week’s episode of Arrow reveal that it will see the Emerald Archer square off against his enemy Vigilante.
The character has featured in a recurring role on The CW show since season 5, with the issue of his secret identity kept a mystery for a surprisingly long amount of time. Eventually, the fifth episode of season 6 – “Deathstroke Returns” – revealed that Vigilante was really Vincent Sobel, a Star City cop and former boyfriend of Dinah Drake.
Since then, the criminal-hating Vigilante appeared to have compromised his morals in his quest to bring down the Green Arrow by allying himself with a Legion of Doom-like cabal of villains led by Michael Emerson’s Cayden James. However, last week’s episode saw Sobel claim that he was actually working against James from the inside. In the next installment, Team Arrow will have to decide whether they can trust the guy or not.

Even though we have a few days to go until some of our favorite DC TV shows return for the back half of the current season, we’re able to peer ever so slightly into the future now that more synopses are creeping online. Don’t forget, episode descriptions tend to make their rounds three weeks ahead of time, but thankfully don’t really spoil whatever episodes come before.
First, let’s talk about Supergirl.
On January 29, it looks as though the series may stray away from the Legion of Super-Heroes – at least for that week – and instead focus on a few other unfolding situations. For starters, we can expect the battle between Morgan Edge and Lena Luthor to continue. Even having been explored sporadically thus far this season, our guess is that this thread will somehow be woven into the greater tapestry before long.

The next load of episode synopses for Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow have arrived. With just hours to go until this season’s penultimate episode of Arrow graces our television screens, a new featurette has surfaced that provides a deeper look into the final phases of Prometheus’ deadly game.
In it, executive producer Wendy Mericle takes us on a guided tour of this particular installment and, without spoiling too much, lets us know that Adrian Chase has no intention of lying down now that he’s in Argus’s custody. In fact, he has contingencies in place, but would you expect anything less from a guy who always has his eyes on the prize?
As it turns out, his allies are picking off members of Team Arrow one by one, putting Oliver in a desperate situation. Sure, some fisticuffs may ensue, but we’re assuming most of that’ll be saved for next week’s season finale. In the meantime, it looks like Oliver...

Last night on Arrow, Prometheus decided to continue his multifaceted assault on Oliver Queen, this time dragging his foe’s father’s name through the mud. But after capably weathering the storm, our hero was finally able to score a victory over Adrian Chase, with the big bad now being in Argus lockup.
Still, nobody should be shocked that a big picture kind of guy like Chase had contingencies in place, and is now picking off members of Team Arrow one by one – with a little help, of course. Although the trailer keeps its cards a little close to its vest in that regard, we do see a disguised woman who may very well be Talia al Ghul taking part in the action.
As for Chase’s other “friends,” it comes as a surprise that Black Siren didn’t appear in the promo as she’d no doubt draw more than a few viewers.

Season 2 of Legends of Tomorrow has been excellent so far, as we’ve watched Reverse-Flash and his Legion of Doom attempting to recover the Spear of Destiny so that the evil speedster can rewrite reality and stop himself from being wiped from the timeline by the Black Flash.
The Legends recently got a big win though when they managed to restore Rip Hunter’s memories and bring him back to the site of the angels, but a new episode description reveals that the Legion will succeed in getting the Spear and changing the world as they see fit. Rather appropriately, this instalment of Legends of Tomorrow is called “Doomsworld.” For the full scoop on what’s to come here, here’s the synopsis:

The CW has released an extended look at next Tuesday’s brand new episode of iZombie, which maintains the show’s affinity for puns with the title “Pour Some Sugar, Zombie.”
Making good use of said title’s Def Leppard reference, Liv consumes the brains of a stripper that she and the gang are investigating the murder of. If the trailer is any indication, there will not be a dull moment in this episode. You have to admit that seeing Liv dance in an exotic manner around the morgue is pretty hilarious.
According to the episode’s synopsis, she will uncover “some extremely useful information.” Whether or not that pertains to the murder investigation at hand or one of the bigger schemes involving Max Rager or Mr. Boss remains to be seen. With only four episodes remaining this season, you can see why we need to consider the possibilities.
