Stellan Skarsgård is among the rare group of actors to have a filmography as diverse as his. From being the beloved Marvel character Dr. Erik Selvig to being Luthen Rael in the Star Wars Universe or playing Orlando Bloom’s father in the Pirates of the Caribbean, the head of the Skarsgård clan has played numerous fan-favorite roles.

'They probably can’t afford us' Amanda Seyfried reveals what it would take for Mamma Mia 3 to happen
Amanda Seyfried isn't sure Universal could "afford" to pay the 'Mamma Mia' stars what would be "fair" for a third movie. The 37-year-old actress, who starred as Sophie Sheridan in the 2008 Abba musical movie and reprised the role in the 2018 sequel, would love to return for a third instalment, but she believes whether it happens or not is likely to "come down to something stupid like whether or not Universal wants to pay the money".She told Vogue magazine: "Nobody is saying no, but nobody is saying yes either. "The powers that be probably can’t afford us to be honest. "I hate to say it, because would I do 'Mamma Mia 3' for free - of course I would - but that’s not the business we’re in. "What’s fair is fair, and I feel like a third film is gonna come down to something stupid like...

Given Hollywood’s love of sequels, and that fact that “Mamma Mia!” and its followup, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”, raked in a combined $1 billion at the box office, why hasn’t Universal greenlit a third film?
“Universal would love to make a third movie, and I’ll leave it at that,” Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said in a new oral history of of “Mamma Mia!” for Vogue.
“We may have to call it ‘Grand-Mamma Mia!’ by the time we make it.”
Amanda Seyfried, who played Sophie in both films, agrees. “I dare you to show me one person who doesn’t want a third ‘Mamma Mia!’,” she said, but also explained why it’s unlikely to happen.

A lot of people who go back in country music, be it the fans or even some who work in the industry in Nashville, refuse to call the CMA Music Festival anything other than “Fan Fair,” the name the annual event had in the far more humble ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. That’s the era when it took place out amid the pungent aromas of Nashville’s fairgrounds, not in and around a downtown stadium. Rather than resist that nostalgia for a quainter era, the CMA indulged it this year by selling vintage-looking T-shirts at merch booths — which, by the way, Country Music Association CEO Sarah Trahern says sold quite well. The festival is definitely embracing its past by including that former moniker in the title of a new documentary, “CMA Fest: 50 Years of Fan Fair,” premiering on Hulu today.

The Country Music Association is celebrating the 50th anniversary of CMA Fest with a new documentary, set to premiere July 5 on Hulu, TheWrap can reveal exclusively.
Told through one-on-one interviews and never-before-seen archival content and festival performances, “CMA Fest: 50 Years of Fan Fair” will track the country event’s history from its humble beginnings as Fan Fair in 1972, which drew 5,000 fans to Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium, to its move to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in 1982 and then ultimately to downtown Nashville in 2001.
Today, the festival draws more than 90,000 fans a day, across four days, with attendees from all 50 states and 51 countries.
“CMA Fest has taken several shapes throughout its storied history,” CMA CEO Sarah Trahern said in a statement. “As we step into our 50th year, our hope with this film was to underscore the one thing that has remained with the festival — its heart. We are thrilled to share...

On New Year’s Day 1964, Connie Smith — then still an aspiring singer — met Grand Ole Opry star Bill Anderson at a concert in Canton, Ohio. It was actually their second meeting: The first followed Smith’s victory in a talent show in Columbus, after which Anderson invited her to perform on the Ernest Tubb radio show and record some demos.
It was a whirlwind, and by summer of ’64, Smith had her first hit for RCA with the record-setting Anderson-penned smash “Once a Day.” A year later, Connie Smith herself joined the Grand Ole Opry.

“I grew up remembering when a sitcom would celebrate 100 episodes, and they’d wheel out the cake,” says Dan Rogers. For the Grand Ole Opry, which he serves as executive producer, they’re gonna need a bigger bakery. The weekly Nashville-based show, which has been a radio program since 1925 and a TV series on and off for many of those years, is about to have its 5000th weekly Saturday night broadcast on Oct. 30. Eat your heart out, “NCIS,” “Simpsons,” “Gunsmoke,” “Meet the Press,” “General Hospital,” et al. — there’s an old kid in town.
“It’s unprecedented, and you’ll probably never see it again, especially with a radio show,” Rogers says. “Five thousand Saturday nights is astounding when you begin to think about each of those Saturday nights and what was happening on those Saturday nights — civil unrest, World War II, the Depression. Directors UK & Writers’ Guild Gb Team For Combined Guidelines To Aid Positive Creative Collaboration
UK industry bodies Directors UK and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain have joined forces to launch a series of guidelines promoting positive collaboration between the two fields that they say could improve mental health and reduce bullying and harassment.
The guidelines advise on how writers and directors can work together most effectively, setting up a healthy creative environment. They have been put together using first-hand accounts from both org’s members.
Points covered include what each creator brings to the table, what they need from each other to work well and best practice for collaboration, and what to do if things go wrong.
“This document encourages writers and directors to engage directly with one another in a working relationship based on open communication, understanding of their respective crafts, and mutual respect for their specialist contributions to the process,” the doc reads.

Last week, Directors UK, Britain's professional association of screen directors, published a booklet entitled Intimacy in the Time of Covid-19. Directing Nudity and Simulated Sex. The organisation has worked with directors Susanna White and Bill Anderson, as well as intimacy coordinator Vanessa Coffey, to update the previous guidelines “in light of the added restrictions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.” Most of the booklet's recommendations assume that productions have already complied with the current health and safety regulations, but it also aims at helping directors during script development, preparation and rehearsing stages. While developing their scripts, filmmakers should primarily consider whether sex on screen is really necessary: “Does a physical act need to be shown? If working within a series format, can the intimacy be delayed? The build up to an intimate.
Directors U.K., the professional association of U.K. screen directors with more than 7,000 members, has published “Intimacy in the Time of Covid-19,” containing guidelines toward shooting sex scenes during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The suggestions offered in the new guidance, that assumes that a production has already complied with Covid-19 health and safety practices, lay out a plan of action for directors that begins with working with the script, and continues with preparation, rehearsals and shooting.
At the script stage, the guidance suggests that the director, writer and producer review the scenes together and decide if the intimate act needs to be shown, or in a series format, if the intimacy can be delayed. “The build up to an intimate scene can sometimes be more exciting than the scene itself,” the guidance states. “Emotional intimacy can be as engaging as physical intimacy.”

Fifty-nine years ago, soft-voiced singer and ace songwriter Bill Anderson whispered his way into Grand Ole Opry membership, where he’s been a mainstay ever since. “Whisperin'” Bill’s vocal style remains subdued in the present but his legendary gift for songwriting, which first garnered attention in 1958 with Ray Price’s rendition of “City Lights,” continues to resonate throughout country music. In 2018, Anderson earned membership in the multi-genre Songwriters Hall of Fame, having already been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and Country Music Hall of Fame.

Brad Paisley knows the Grand Ole Opry has its ghosts, but March 21 felt downright eerie. There was no anticipatory murmur of excitement from fans filing into the Grand Ole Opry House that night. No curtain going up. No applause marking the moment the show began. Instead, Paisley and fellow Opry members Vince Gill and Marty Stuart sat on stools six feet apart and looked out at nearly 4,400 dark seats, a few cameras and fewer than 30 crew members, only a handful visible at any given time.
If an empty Grand Ole Opry House always feels a little haunted to Paisley, “it feels really haunted when there’s no one there but you know everyone’s listening.”
That Saturday, the Grand Ole Opry was televised live for the first time in nearly a decade, thanks to Circle, a TV network created as a joint venture between Ryman Hospitality Properties, which owns the Opry,...

As graduation ceremonies begin to take place throughout the nation — albeit under strikingly different circumstances than last year’s — we look back at one of country music’s most acclaimed graduates, J.R. Cash, who 70 years ago on this date earned his Dyess High School diploma in the tiny town of Dyess, Arkansas. Less than a decade later, after graduation and military service, he would begin his recording career, on the way to becoming Johnny Cash.

Born Lula Grace Johnson in West Plains, Missouri, in 1930, she was the eighth of 11 children, two of whom died before reaching the age of two. After dropping out of high school, Howard married at 16 but soon divorced and moved to Los Angeles. There, she would meet Wynn Stewart, one of the architects of the Bakersfield Sound. For nearly 94 years, since it began as the Wsm Barn Dance in the fall of 1925, the Grand Ole Opry has been a country-music institution. But few fans really know what the Opry is, how an artist is inducted, and what comes along with membership.
As Ken Burns’ new documentary Country Music sparks renewed interest in the Opry, we take a look back at its rich, colorful history, recalling some of its most iconic moments and spelling out what it takes to become a cast member of the longest-running radio show in American history.

Roy Clark may have found his most wide audience as the co-host of the TV comedy series Hee Haw, but it was his prowess on the guitar, banjo and fiddle that made him such a hit with music fans, including famous friends like Brad Paisley. Clark died Thursday at 85, leaving behind a legacy of thrilling live performances. Here are six of his best.
“Twelfth Street Rag”
On the 1962 Capitol LP The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark, the guitar picker trained his dizzy digits on such familiar tunes as “Golden Slippers” and “In the Mood.

Roy Clark, the multi-talented musician, Country Music Hall of Fame member and co-host of Hee Haw, died Thursday at home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, of complications from pneumonia. Clark’s publicist confirmed the musician’s death. He was 85.
Clark was often quoted as saying, “I grew old on Hee Haw, but I could’ve grown old without it.” He and his longtime co-star on the show, Buck Owens, delivered corn-fed punchlines, which earned the series plenty of eye-rolling ridicule, but the pair, and their many co-stars through the years, also provided...

In 1975, Kitty Wells traveled to Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia, to record Forever Young, an album of country, rock and soul songs. Wells was 56 at the time and was looking to modernize her sound and image, just a bit. She hadn’t had a Top Ten country hit in more than a decade and was best known — to most younger fans, she was perhaps only known — for “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels,” a country chart-topper from 1952 that, as she later explained, “was just the women getting back at the men.

In the summer of 1979, Conway Twitty earned his 22nd Number One hit with “I May Never Get to Heaven,” written by longtime friends Bill Anderson and Buddy Killen. Anderson had been enshrined in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame four years earlier, but has continued to have hits into the 21st century, including the multi-award-winning “Whiskey Lullaby,” written with Jon Randall. “I May Never Get to Heaven,” however, took a long, circuitous route to the top of the charts, yet along the way ended up being recorded by numerous artists — including the late Aretha Franklin,...

Help! I looked into young Bill Anderson's crystal blue eyes and now I've fallen. Deep. While the plot of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again follows young Donna Sheridan's experiences with three different men, the movie could've ended when she stepped on Bill's boat and I would've completely understood.
Young Bill, played by actor Josh Dylan, swept Donna off her feet while they sailed together to Kalokairi, but his flirtatious energy didn't just win her over - it got us all. Moviegoers everywhere, myself included, were swooning during their dance number, and I've kept "Why Did It Have to Be Me?" on repeat for the last five days.
My Twitter feed has been full of Mamma Mia! tweets in general, but after some thorough social media scanning, my thirsty self is happy to report that I'm not alone in my love for this Swedish sailor. The reactions ahead...

Thanks to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, audiences have the chance to see their old favorites reunite on screen and meet a few new heartthrobs along the way. While all of Donna's guys are handsome in their own right, Josh Dylan caught our eye as young Bill Anderson, and we still can't look away.
You may recognize the British actor from his role in the 2016 film Allied, but his flirtatious energy and incredible voice in Mamma Mia! are what grabbed our attention from the get-go. His chemistry with Lily James? Undeniable. Plus, he's pretty much a dead ringer for a young Stellan Skarsgard. If you can't get enough of Josh, keep reading to see some of his hottest moments, and be sure to catch him in the gothic drama The Little Stranger in August.
