Update: Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are exiting GMA3: What You Need To Know and leaving the network, a spokesperson for ABC News confirmed.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions,” the spokesperson said.
The announcement came after negotiation and mediation sessions. Robach and Holmes have been off the air since December, when reports surfaced that they were having a romantic relationship.
No permanent hosts have been announced for the show.
Robach also is leaving another assignment at the network, as co-anchor of 20/20. In a memo to employees, ABC News President Kim Godwin said a decision about who will co-anchor that show and GMA3 “will come later.” She acknowledged that the stories...

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, who surprised TV viewers by developing a behind-the-scenes romance while anchoring ABC News’ “GMA3,” are getting a divorce — from the Disney-backed journalism unit.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” the news division said in a statement released Friday evening. “We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”
The pair was benched from their duties at the early-afternoon program in early December, though when word first leaked of their relationship, they were initially allowed to continue anchoring. ABC News President Kim Godwin opted to take them off the air to tamp down gossip and speculation, fearing that such stuff could tarnish the overall “Good Morning America” franchise. After the heavily publicized romantic relationship that took the gossip world by storm, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are out at ABC. The channel has severed ties with the former anchors of “GMA3.”
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions,” an ABC News spokesperson told IndieWire in a statement.
The decision was reportedly made after a Thursday mediation session regarding the two anchors’ futures at the network, according to TMZ. They were previously suspended from their show — which they co-hosted with Jennifer Ashton — in December. The report further states that the mediation was contentious, with ABC taking issue with their failure to disclose their romantic relationship to executives and behavior on set that reportedly made staff “uncomfortable.

As “GMA3” heads into its third week without co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, questions swirl about their future and that of the show. Will they be fired? Will ABC bring the scandal-ridden co-hosts back after the revelation of their romantic relationship while both are still married to others? Have the reports of Holmes’ previous two affairs with “GMA” colleagues made him too toxic for a Disney-owned company?
TV veterans say that ABC executives have no easy answers in a situation like this. “Are you going to tell them to break up? Or are you saying they can come back on the air together?” former ABC Daytime exec Brian Frons told TheWrap. “Or do you separate them and have them sit in the corner for a year while they burn off their contracts? It’s just a mess.”

Update: Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes remain off the air as the network conducts an internal review of the situation following the revelation of a romantic relationship between the two news figures.
ABC News President Kim Godwin confirmed in a memo the network was conducting an internal review as they remain off the air, according to a source. CNN first reported on the memo.
Last week, Godwin told staffers that the relationship between the two anchors had become an “internal and external distraction” in deciding to pull them off the air.
Godwin said on the staff call last week that “I want to say that while the relationship is not a violation of company policy, I really have taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization.”
But later in the week, Semafor reported that an internal review was being conducted.

The anchor team at ABC News’ “GMA3” remains in flux pending an ABC News review of conduct by regular hosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, the top executive at the Disney news unit told staffers Monday.
“I understand that the continuing coverage can be distracting from the incredibly important work our team does here at ABC News,” said Kim Godwin, ABC News’ president, in a memo. “Amy and T.J. will be off air pending the completion of an internal review.”
The missive appears to be the first public confirmation by ABC News executives that the co-anchors’ romantic relationship — first revealed by the Daily Mail — had led to a probe within Disney. Indeed, Godwin had told News employees during an editorial call last week that Robach and Holmes had not violated any company policy, but indicated ABC News felt the matter had become “an internal and external disruption,” and took...

Two-thirds of “GMA3’s” anchors, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, remain sidelined several days after being benched over their extramarital relationship. The longer this goes on, the less likely it feels that the co-hosts and couple will return to the 1 p.m. ABC News program, which marries the powerful “Good Morning America” branding with descriptive subtitle “What You Need to Know.”
Both separated from their spouses (Holmes is married to attorney Marilee Fiebig; Robach is married to actor and “Melrose Place” star Andrew Shue), Holmes and Robach are “probably” still being paid right now, two employment lawyers independently told IndieWire for this story. Meanwhile, ABC and “GMA3” producers are likely reviewing their contracts and observing public reaction. The show’s third co-host, Jennifer Ashton, is probably just trying to keep everyone’s pulse rate and blood pressure under control; good thing she’s a doctor.

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are still on the “GMA3” sidelines. Based on the “Good Morning America” offshoot’s TV ratings with the duo — and with third wheel (now in several ways) Jennifer Ashton — ABC News might not be in a huge rush to bring them back.
“GMA3” is the lowest-rated of the “GMA”-branded hours, according to Nielsen data, and is lower rated than any hour of NBC’s “Today” show and CBS morning show “CBS This Morning.”
This quarter-to-date, “GMA3” is averaging 1.566 million total viewers per day, with 314,000 of them between the ages of 25-54, which is the key demographic for news programming. The two morning hours of “Good Morning America” average more than twice that: 3.178 million overall viewers, 732,000 from the demo.
“Today” from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. does better than regular “GMA” in the key news demo, but not overall. “CBS This Morning” ranks third of three.

Anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach have been suspended from daytime talk show “GMA3,” following reports of an affair between the co-hosts. ABC network president Kim Godwin confirmed the news on a Monday morning staff call. Gio Benetiz and Stephanie Ramos will serve as fill-in hosts for the third hour of “Good Morning America” in the interim.
“These decisions are not easy, they are not knee jerk, but they are necessary for the brand and for our priority which, you guys know, are all of us — the people here at ABC,” Gordon reportedly said on the call.
Holmes and Robach, who have worked together since September 2020 when Holmes joined “GMA3,” were reported to be in a relationship with each other in November, when The Daily Mail published 65 photos of them on a “romantic weekend” trip in upstate New York.

Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes to Sit Out GMA3 While ABC Reportedly Mulls Fallout From Their Alleged Affair
Good Morning America reporters/GMA3 anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes reportedly will not anchor their morning show for an unspecified period of time in the wake of their alleged romantic affair going public, per the Wall Street Journal.
ABC News president Kim Godwin reportedly recently told staffers that GMA anchors Amy Robach and Tj Holmes “will be off air while network figures out how to best handle situation,” WSJ‘s Joe Flint tweeted Monday. “Calls it a distraction but not a violation of policies.”

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes will be benched from their anchoring duties at ABC News’ “GMA3′ while the news division weighs the effect their recent disclosure of a romantic relationship might have on the program and the company, ABC News President Kim Godwin informed staffers Monday.
Godwin told ABC News employees during an editorial call Monday that Robach and Holmes had not violated any company policy, according to a person familiar with the matter, but indicated ABC News felt the matter had become “an internal and external disruption,” and “wanted to do what’s best for the organization.”
ABC News declined to make executives available for comment. Gio Benitez and Stephanie Ramos will co-host Monday’s broadcast, this person said, but there’s not a sense at present of how the program will be staffed for the rest of the week or when Robach and Holmes might return.

Thinking about a job in broadcast news? The two top spots have long been co-anchoring one of the nation’s big morning programs or leading an evening newscast. These days, there appears to be room for a third.
Each weekday at 1 p.m. on ABC, Amy Robach. T.J. Holmes and Dr. Jennifer Ashton host an afternoon hour of news that seems to be gaining traction. “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” originally launched as an entertainment-focused extension of the Disney network’s “Good Morning America,” but it has evolved. On Monday, the trio opened their hour with a look at how monkeypox is affecting children as well as flooding in the southwest. But there is also room for stories that are less dire: Actor Colman Domingo paid a visit last week, and Fridays feature a segment devoted to faith.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is prepping for a return to normalcy in 2022, including a live, in-person Daytime Emmys at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. But that’s next year. For 2021, NATAS, CBS and producer Associated Television Intl. are putting together a pre-taped Daytime Emmys telecast that will still be a hybrid of studio segments, remote presentations and pre-submitted acceptance speeches.
“The Talk’s” Sheryl Underwood will serve as solo host of this year’s telecast, her fifth time emceeing the ceremony but the first on her own.

The Daytime Emmy nominations were announced on Tuesday, May 25. But this year’s awards are a little different from last year’s. These nominations are for soap operas, talk shows, game shows, and other genres that will be presented during a CBS telecast one month from today on June 25. Then on June 28 nominations will be announced in other fields including children’s, animated, and lifestyle programming, with those winners to be revealed during online streaming ceremonies on July 17-18. So who made the cut in this round? Scroll down for the full list.
The voting process for the Daytime Emmys differs significantly from their prime time counterparts. The nominees were selected by panels that ranged from 10 to 50 members who reviewed every submission in the category. The panelists scored those submissions individually instead of ranking them in order of preference. The highest scorers were the ones who made the cut as nominees.
