Sarah Silverman made big news on Monday night when she called the "Bernie or Bust" crowd "ridiculous" from the DNC stage in primetime, but for Howard Stern fans her speech was notable for another reason: it was the first time "Baba Booey" was invoked, at least to my knowledge, at a major political convention. For those not in the know: "Baba Booey" is the nickname of longtime Howard Stern Show producer Gary Dell'Abate, who has (mostly) come to embrace the moniker since he was first anointed with it on July 26, 1990 (backstory here). More broadly, though, it's become a way for Stern Show fans to make their presence known at high-profile events, from professional golf tournaments to network news broadcasts. In short: when you hear "Baba Booey" shouted out, you can be pretty sure there's a Stern fanatic in the general vicinity. Silverman -- who was an ardent Bernie Sanders supporter...

It was the worst moment of Jillian Barberie's on-air career.
"I was doing one of those segments where someone from the zoo brought animals to the studio," Barberie remembers. "So I was doing the weather with a bird in my hand, and the handler brought out a monkey. The bird started flapping its wings, which freaked out the monkey. And then that freaked out the bird. There was chaos, and the next thing I knew, my fingernail had been torn right off and was on the floor by my shoes."
No, the monkey hadn't ripped off a press-on fingernail.

After months of waiting for a decision on the drama’s fate, ABC Family has cancelled Bunheads. I’m disappointed but at least now there’s no chance of the show wearing out its welcome. After announcing guest roles for James Franco and Adam Pally, TV Guide reports that The Mindy Project has booked Kris Humphries for a guest-spot. I guess they can’t all be great news.
Over at The New Yorker, Emily Nussbaum defends the legacy of Sex and the City. The movies and that series finale may have worked to make us forget, but at its peak, it was a show that helped HBO find its voice and challenged the static romantic comedy.

Update: Jillian Barberie Reynolds this morning clarified her tweet. “I wasn’t let go as in ‘fired’,” she says on her blog. But she does make clear that Kttv wouldn’t let her co-host anymore and wanted to stick her “in the field” a few times a week instead. ”But the truth is, I loved being on set. Teasing Steve, doing celebrity interviews and working off script and ad libbing! It’s what I do. I could not imagine doing any other role on that show after almost two decades!!” Previous: When Good Day La kicked Dorothy Lucey to the curb last May, her co-host Jillian Barberie Reynolds was switched from a full-time Kttv employee to freelance status. Well, now say goodbye to Jillian as well. She was supposed to continue in her current duties though not always five days a week. But on Thursday the Fox-owned Los Angeles station...

Exclusive: After four months of tryouts, Los Angeles Fox station Kttv has named Maria Sansone as the new permanent co-anchor of its morning program Good Day La. Her appointment is being announced to the station’s staff today. Sansone succeeds original co-host Dorothy Lucey, who departed at the end of May when her contract was not renewed. Sansone, among the guest anchors Kttv tried out over the summer, will start October 1, co-hosting the morning news program from 7-10 Am Pt alongside co-anchor Steve Edwards, meteorologist Rick Dickert, weather anchor Maria Quiban and regular contributor Jillian Reynolds. “Having started her career in television at age 11, Maria has interviewed everyone from pop culture icons and sports legends, to everyday people with compelling stories,” said Kevin Hale, VP and General Manager of Kttv. “Her contagious energy and signature style will be vital to the next generation of Good Day La.” Related: Dorothy Lucey...

Former Good Day La anchor Dorothy Lucey today made a visit to rival Ktla Morning news, addressing her dismissal from Kttv, where her contract was not renewed after 17 years co-hosting the Fox station’s morning show with Jillian Reynolds and Steve Edwards. Lucey also spoke about her new project, a talk show produced by American Idol‘s Nigel Lythgoe. The talk show, Good News Girls, which Lythgoe is now shopping, features five prominent Los Angeles female anchors — Wendy Burch, Pat Harvey, Christine Devine, Lucey and Ana Garcia — who have a charity of the same name. The five would cover all sorts of topics on the show, including charity.

Today was Dorothy Lucey’s final day on Kttv’s Good Day L.A. after her contract was not renewed. Here is her sendoff on the show from co-anchors Jillian Reynolds, who is switching to freelance status, and Steve Edwards. The video references a story in yesterday’s La Times that mentions “unflattering comments about Lucey” made previously by Reynolds on Howard Stern’s radio show and gives a shoutout to Deadline for breaking the story on the Good Day L.A. changes. In light of Lucey’s departure, the show will hold on-air tryouts for the vacant chair in the mold of the syndicated Live With Kelly. Update: A spokesperson for Kttv has confirmed our report, including Dorothy Lucey’s departure. Her last day will be Friday. Exclusive: Longtime Good Day La co-anchor Dorothy Lucey will be leaving the morning program of Los Angeles’ Fox-owned station Kttv. I hear Lucey’s contract was not renewed and her last day will be later this week, possibly on Friday. Additionally, Lucey’s co-anchor Jillian Reynolds will switch from a full-time Kttv employee to freelance status. She will continue in her current duties on Good Morning La but not always five days a week. The move is mutually beneficial for the station, as Reynolds commands a big salary, and for Reynolds, as she can pursue freely her extracurricular activities such as sponsorship deals and events. Good Day La‘s third co-anchor, veteran Steve Edwards, is locked into a long-term contract. A Kttv spokesperson could not reached for comment. Good Day...

Dermot Mulroney is the latest love interest "New Girl" has brought in to woo Zooey Deschannel's character Jess. Mulroney plays a wealthy older banker named Russell Schiller, whose daughter is Jess's student. And as Mulroney told "Good Day La," (weekdays, 9 a.m. Pt on Fox) his character's age and socioeconomic status have thus far prevented him from fully integrating into the gang.
"Well I think they did the best they could to incorporate me into their group, but I was more of a radical splinter group to that core," he quipped.
Mulroney praised the quality of the show's production. "It's a unique experience, in particular how they shoot this show ... It's a single camera sitcom, so you go outside and see wind blowing their hair, so it's real. So it has that other quality," he said. When Jillian Reynolds brought up a "Friends" guest spot he made years ago, Mulroney contrasted the different styles.

Heather Dubrow, the newest addition to "The Real Housewives of Orange County" cast, stopped "Good Day La" (weekdays, 7 a.m. Pst on Fox) Tuesday to visit with her old friends, Steve Edwards and Jillian Reynolds. Dubrow first met the "Gdla" team back in the 90's, when she was still Heather Paige Kent, a struggling actress who appeared in many short-lived sitcoms such as "Jenny", "Stark Raving Mad" and "That's Life."
Edwards, who is very open about his disdain for the "Housewives" franchise, seemed surprised that Dubrow joined the show, and after watching a clip of a conversation between Dubrow and fellow "Housewife" Alexis Bellino, asked her if she was perhaps too smart to relate to her co-stars. Dubrow answered carefully. "I'll let you form your own opinion about that," she said, but added that the women don't seem to get her humor.
A clip from Tuesday night's episode reinforced the disconnect.

Ricky Gervais is gearing up for his third annual Golden Globes hosting stint, and his history of telling biting jokes aimed at Hollywood celebrities and members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has become one the primary stories leading up to the awards show. In an interview on Thursday with "Good Day L.A." (weekdays on Fox) Gervais reflected on seeing his comedy labeled as offensive, and urged viewers, and the targets of his barbs, to take the jokes in the spirit of parody and fun.
Gervais began the interview by pushing back against the notion that the HFPA or NBC executives had censored some of his more risque material last year. "I think that was a rumor, that I was held back," he clarified.
The comedian then reflected on not being able to please everyone, and offered a bit of his game-plan for Sunday night. "If you do anything that's slightly contentious,...
