Self-assured vigilante Robyn McCall is usually rescuing others. But at the start of season three of The Equalizer, which premiered Sunday on CBS, our hero is in need of potentially life-saving assistance.
At the end of last season’s finale, Robyn was kidnapped from her vehicle in front of Aunt Vi and Delilah. Her assailants were presumably affiliated with Mason Quinn, whom Robyn was obsessively hunting after the terrorist murdered William Bishop (played by Chris Noth), her former superior and friend.

Before he was Mr. Big on "Sex and the City," Chris Noth was a lead on a little show called "Law & Order" from 1990-1995 and appeared in 111 episodes. He'd later reprise his role as Detective Mike Logan in the "Law & Order" spinoff film, "Exiled," in 1998 and the spinoff series "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" for another 36 episodes from 2005-2008, per IMDb. Prior to "Law & Order," Noth had several acting credits to his name. The series is what began a lengthy career for him with a number of prominent roles.
So imagine if Noth didn't end up starring in the series after being associated with the show and the leading man for years? Well, that was almost reality. Noth nearly lost out on the part in favor of Michael Madsen, an actor you may know from his numerous appearances in Quentin Tarantino films, according to Mental Floss.

Kino’s Noir boxes offer interesting noir-adjacent crime and mystery pix. This seventh return to the well of darkness brings up the organized crime ‘meller’ Chicago Confidential with Brian Keith and the more ambitious The Boss, starring John Payne and written by Dalton Trumbo. The third show The Fearmakers is a real oddity. Starring Dana Andrews and directed by Jacques Tourneur, it’s a political conspiracy tale about manipulating opinions with fraudulent polls. It sounds a lot like the fractured state of modern America, 65 years later. With commentaries by Jason A. Ney and Alan K. Rode.

The Equalizer returned to CBS Sunday night with its most shocking episode yet.
The hit drama recently announced it was parting ways with Chris Noth following accusations of sexual assault.
Initially, Noth's character William Bishop effectively disappeared on-screen, and The Equalizer Season 2 Episode 14 brought the arc to a close for good.
Queen Latifah shed light on the allegations leveled at her former co-star in January.

“And my feeling is justice has to prevail regardless. I just want the right things to be done, you know?”

On The Equalizer show, Noth played William Bishop which was an important role but the actor was subsequently fired from CBS show. Latifah had been quiet on the matter until she spoke with Julie Moran at People (the TV Show!) about the situation.

Chris Noth made his final appearance on the CBS drama The Equilizer on Sunday night’s episode titled, “Separated,” a source confirmed to Deadline.
It was announced on Dec. 20 that Noth had been fired from the Queen Latifah-led series amid multiple accusations of sexual assault against the Sex and the City and Law Order alum. He has denied the allegations.
In last night’s episode, Noth’s character William Bishop pulled a Hail Mary move to save a colleague who was ready to take the fall for his involvement with Bishop and Latifah’s Robyn McCall’s top-secret dealings. The jailbird was Harry Keshegian (Adam Goldberg), a hacker extraordinaire who was arrested by the FBI for breaching the CIA’s confidential files.
“Bish, he got caught because of us and he kept both of our names out of it,” Robyn, a former CIA operative turned vigilante, tells her old friend.

Chris Noth's time on The Equalizer is over.
For two seasons, the actor has played William Bishop on the CBS procedural, opposite Queen Latifah's Robyn McCall.
“Chris Noth will no longer film additional episodes of The Equalizer, effective immediately,” CBS and Universal Television, which produces the series, said in a statement Monday.
Noth will appear in one more episode that is set to air in early 2022, but it's unclear how the show will proceed without him.
It's possible the role will be recast, but it's also possible the scripts will be rewritten to write the character out.
News of Noth's exit comes less than a week after sexual assault allegations were leveled against the actor in a piece by The Hollywood Reporter.
"The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false," the Mr. Big actor said in a statement.

Chris Noth has been dropped from CBS’ series “The Equalizer” after being accused of sexual assault by two women, Variety has learned.
Noth will be seen in one original upcoming episode of the series that has already been filmed, as well as future encores of episodes that have already aired, but will no longer be a part of the show. CBS and Universal TV had no further comment.
In a detailed investigation by The Hollywood Reporter published last Thursday, two women, under the pseudonyms of “Zoe” and “Lily,” separately approached the publication months apart and shared their sexual assault allegations against Noth. They alleged that the incidents occurred in Los Angeles in 2004 and New York in 2015.
Noth denied the allegations in a statement to THR, calling them “categorically false” and claiming the encounters were consensual.

Queen Latifah is back to “equalize” wrongdoings in the first look at The Equalizer Season 2, which premieres on October 10 on CBS. Based on the 1980s series of the same name, Queen Latifah stars as Robyn McCall, “an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn.” McCall’s voiceover opens second season first look trailer, saying, “There are things in this world, things that no one should have to experience. And it is my job to make them right.” After an intense bank robbery and police shootout, Tory Kittles’ Detective Marcus Dante calls her for help. “I want your help. There’s something I need equalized.” Teaming up with Dante to take down bad guys, Chris Noth’s William Bishop offers McCall a piece of warning advice. “Going up against guys like this, watch your back,” he tells her. Following those words of caution,...

Queen Latifah is using everything in her arsenal to bring the titular Robyn McCall to life on CBS’ The Equalizer (Sundays, 8/7c).
The former rapper and singer relies on her musicality when it comes to fight sequences, and her sense of justice as someone who was bullied as a kid growing up in Newark, New Jersey. But when it comes to being the first Black woman to take the lead in the franchise’s history, on either the big or small screen, Latifah (née Dana Owens) is tapping into her genetic memory.

In CBS’ New York City-set re-imagining of the 1980s series “The Equalizer,” starring the late Edward Woodward as the stoic menace with a populist message, multi-hyphenate Queen Latifah plays Robyn McCal. She’s an enigmatic former CIA operative who uses her particular set of rather extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. As yet another one of CBS’ exhumations of classic last-century crime/drama series, this “Equalizer” feels thoroughly unoriginal. There are a number of callbacks to the original series, which the reboot relies on primarily (not the Denzel Washington movie adaptations), but they probably won’t mean anything to new audiences.
Like the male “Equalizer” characters, Latifah’s McCall is a former intelligence operative for the CIA who became disillusioned with the government’s methods and opted for civilian life. What prompts her to enter a new career of reformer is a chance entanglement with the...

Queen Latifah makes her debut as an under-the-radar crime fighter in the teaser for CBS’s The Equalizer.

When Robyn’s daughter asks her about abrupt departure from work, Robyn shares the ever-popular nonanswer: “It’s complicated.” However, clips of Robyn protecting herself and others from dangerous situations prove otherwise.
Robyn’s daughter, however isn’t the only one seeking to learn more about her new side gig. Chris Noth’s William Bishop warns that the CIA is also on the hunt for answers as Robyn takes on a new, dangerous lifestyle. Queen Latifah is making The Equalizer into a “Ladies First” small screen platform come February with the launch of her starring role on CBS’s reboot series of the classic 1980s crime procedural. The series will appropriately join the Eye Network’s other currently running ‘80s reboots MacGyver and Magnum P.I.
Richard Lindheim, co-creator (with Michael Slone) of the Eye Network’s original 1985-1989 television series, is back as co-creator and executive producer, joined in that capacity by star Latifah herself. The series will operate under showrunners Terri Miller and Andrew Marlowe, who are also credited creators/executive producers.
