(Had it been eligible as a new musical, Hedwig probably would have easily tied Guide, as score and book would have been slam dunks). Trailing these shows with seven...

It’s not really my thing, but I love watching movies about sports! I thought it would be appropriate to share with you my top ten favorite football movies in honor of football season.
Now, I’m not saying these are the best football movies made, but then again some of them are. These are just ten of my favorite films that revolve around the sport football. Check out my list below, and then share with me your favorite football films in the rant back section below!

In [insert location], [insert level] football is a way of life. Here at The Film Stage, it’s no different. So in honor of the start of football season (finally!), we have compiled the strongest, most complete team we could put on the silver-screen gridiron. That’s right: The All-Hollywood Football Team. From memorable characters to outstanding talent, the players on our team are the best in the game, and while they may not be able to win a game (we’re looking at you Texas State Armadillos), they’ll be sure to leave you laughing or crying. Take a look at the starting line-up:
Coach- Lt. Colonel Henry Blake (Mash)
What Blake lacked in football prowess, he made up for in cunning gambling strategy. Trying to scrape together a winning team out of a unit full of out-of-shape drunkards, Blake captained a side-splitting bag of tricks, making the football scene from Mash one...

The 2010 NFL Draft gets underway tonight, giving sports fans something new to argue about for at least a couple of weeks. The draft's rules and the selection process are significantly more complex than your typical playground pick-'em method for splitting teams, but thankfully, we here at Movies Blog play by our own set of rules.
If given the opportunity to draft a team based on the many fictional football players out there in movie land, this is what you would want your starting roster to look like!
First Round: Dan Marino
Of course Dan Marino, the American Hall of Fame quarterback who unfortunately rubbed Ray Finkle the wrong way in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," is a first-round pick. He was an all-star football player in real life. Sure, he's not exactly in top form these days, but if we're plucking characters straight out of movie history, Marino circa 1994 is a steal.
