The NFL, its commissioner Roger Goodell, the Washington Commanders and their controversial owner Dan Snyder just got slammed by a scathing lawsuit from DC Attorney General Karl Racine.
Launched off the District of Columbia’s Consumer Protection Procedures Act, Racine is going after the league, team and officials for intentionally deceiving locals over the results and integrity of an investigation into allegations of a toxic workplace, sexual harassment and sexual assault at the newishly minted Commanders.
“For years the team and its owner have caused very real and very serious harm and then lied about it to dodge accountability and to continue to rake in profits,” Racine said Thursday in a press conference unveiling the suit. “So far they seem to have gotten away with it, but that stops today.”

Following its well-received screening at the 2018 Overlook Film Festival, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich (written by Bone Tomahawk director S. Craig Zahler) was acquired for North American distribution by Rlje Films. It's been playing the festival circuit and will be getting a Us theatrical and VOD release on August 17th. Having seen the movie at Fantasia, I can say that this movie has some of the most insane and bloody kills ever put on screen, and if you want to see some of that for yourself ahead of August 17th, take a look at the newly released red band trailer:
"The reimagining of the Full Moon Features cult classic stars Thomas Lennon (TV’s “Reno 911!”), Jenny Pellicer (TV’s “Cocaine Godmother”), Nelson Franklin (TV’s “Veep”), Charlyne Yi (This is 40), Michael Pare (Eddie and the Cruisers), and Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator). The iconic Udo Kier (Brawl in Cell Block 99) stars as the titular character.

Rlje Films has acquired North American rights to Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, the movie that serves as a reimagining of the 1989 Full Moon Features cult horror pic. Udo Kier toplines the new incarnation that co-stars Thomas Lennon, Jenny Pellicer, Nelson Franklin, Charlyne Yi, Michael Pare and Barbara Crampton. S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk) penned the script and We Are Monsters‘ Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund co-directed.
The pic will now hit theaters in August 2018 via the resurrected Fangoria label after that horror mag was acquired by Cinestate’s Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk. They produced the pic with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian and David Liljeblad. Adam Donaghey, Johnathan Brownlee, Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones, Rick Prince and Red Sanders executive produced along with Charles Band, who was behind the original film.
The plot centers on Edgar (Lennon), recently divorced and reeling, who returns to his childhood home to regroup his life.

We revisit Tom's Midnight Garden, Moondial, The Chronicles Of Narnia and a few lesser-known UK children's TV series...
Read our look-back at UK kids' fantasy dramas 1980 - 1984 here.
By 1985 British TV's children's drama had really hit its stride, achieving "a balanced diet of programmes" as Edward Barnes, the head of the BBC children's department observed. The late 80s, arguably, saw a new golden age for spooky and magical kids drama. Excellent production values, improved significantly by well-honed special effects work using Quantel, Paintbox and Harry, and moreover some interesting casting - often of very talented newcomers - produced some of the most memorable dramas of the era.
The second half of the decade saw the BBC riding high on the back of the success of their state-of-the-art adaptation of John Masefield's Box Of Delights. Meanwhile, anthology series Dramarama was going from strength to strength on ITV.

Hollywood Hates Women, Part 544,654: Videogame Edition. From Rob Beschizza at Boing Boing:
Ellen Page recently starred in Sony’s video game Beyond: Two Souls, her likeness and performance captured and used for the CGI epic’s protagonist, Jodie Holmes. The game was a hit–popular enough for nude images of Jodie, generated by removing steam from a shower scene, to end up “leaked” online. As puerile as they were uncanny, however, no-one took much notice.
But then Sony did something really, really stupid: it threatened anyone publishing the images and ordered them to take them off the internet.
Boing Boing then links to FastCoDesign, where John Brownlee explains why it’s difficult to believe that getting these images out onto the Net isn’t precisely what Sony intended:
f [game developer] Quantic Dream never meant for players to see Jodie Holmes naked, why did a Quantic Dream artist spend time painstakingly modeling her breasts,...
