Within Review

Author: Lisa Giles-Keddie

Logic needs to be thrown completely out of the window when watching creepfest Within. It’s directed by Phil Claydon of Vampire Killers fame – the 2009 B-movie about lesbian vampires enslaving a village’s womenfolk, only for unlikely heroes James Corden and Mathew Horne to come along and save the day. Indeed, this was well before Corden conquered Tinseltown with his celebrity carpools.

The point is to aim ‘middle-ish’ with Within and there’s enough entertainment and ‘look away now’, jumpy bits to be had. In fact, the whole premise is nicely spun along, namely guessing whether the sinister situation is ‘living’ or ‘supernatural’ in cause. The Alexanders (Vartan, Velazquez and Moriarty) move neighbourhood to a new house whose occupants have long gone, leaving a garage full of memories. Youngest member Hannah (Moriarty) has been grounded after a teenage party, and is given the task of clearing the boxes,

'Annabelle 2' Moves Forward with Original Writer

'Annabelle 2' Moves Forward with Original Writer
While Annabelle was by no means one of the biggest movies of 2014, it was one of the biggest money makers, pulling in $84.2 million domestically off a $6.5 million budget. It went onto make a staggering $256.8 million worldwide for Blumhouse Productions. So, of course news of a sequel shouldn't be too surprising. What is surprising is that it took this long for Warner Bros. and New Line to move forward on a follow-up.

Writer of the original Annabelle, Gary Dauberman will be back to script Annabelle 2. This news comes just as James Wan begins shooting the sequel The Conjuring: The Enfield Poltergeist. Annabelle was actually a spinoff of the 2013 horror hit The Conjuring, and centered on the creepy Annabelle doll that was prominently featured in that movie. Annabelle, while having strong ties to The Conjuring's ghost busting duo The Warrens, has become its own thing, and is certainly able to anchor a second franchise.

The Conjuring 2 Pushed Back To 2016

Warner Bros. just announced that it has pushed New Line’s horror sequel The Conjuring 2, a follow-up to the acclaimed hit screamer that grossed an astounding $318M off a $20M production budget, back from 2015 to an unknown date in 2016. The release date change came coupled with an announcement that an unspecified horror title will take The Conjuring 2‘s previous October 23rd, 2015 slot.

Unlike recent spinoff Annabelle, which grossed around $167 million but got savaged by critics, this sequel will rejoin Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) as they investigate a new paranormal case. It’s expected that The Conjuring 2 will continue the original’s style of old-school scares inspired by real cases of alleged paranormal activity. As on the original, Chad and Carey Hayes are scripting, though Conjuring director James Wan is not expected to return.

However, one possible reason for the date change could be to potentially

As production gets nearer the cast is now starting to come together, and the first announced is Erin Moriarty, lately to be seen as Woody Harrelson's daughter Audrey in HBO's brilliant True Detective.Gary Dauberman (Conjuring spin-off Annabelle) has written the script, which finds a family moving to a new house and discovering, of course, that it’s full of creepy energy from mysteriously killed previous inhabitants, and that the dark secret of the place is still lurking within. Seriously, kids, just don't ever move house. Moriarty's role hasn't yet been specified, but we're guessing she's a daughter in the relocated clan. This Crawlspace is nothing to do with the other Crawlspaces that already exist. It's not a remake of the 1974 TV-movie,
