Actress Rose McGowan was heavily criticized after declaring support for Republican Larry Elder’s recall bid for California governor Sunday.
“Rose McGowan just endorsed a Republican who wants to ban abortion and pay the descendants of white slavers reparations. Her hair is unwashed and uncombed, and she’s wearing a robe and slippers, I shit you not. Is this an SNL bit?” fumed one Twitter user who quickly racked up almost 1,000 retweets.
Another said they doubted her endorsement would “sway” the results and yet another snapped that McGowan, who has been an outspoken voice in the #MeToo movement, is “no leftist.”
Musician Ricky Davila lamented, “Not at all surprised to see Rose McGowan supporting misogynistic insurrection loving white supremacist enabler Larry Elder because from the beginning she’s been a closet Maga lunatic. True colors shown. What a disgrace.”
On Sunday, McGowan appeared with Elder, saying she didn’t agree with him on “all issues,...

Energy Secretary Rick Perry caused confusion after he suggested on Thursday that fossil fuels could help prevent sexual assault.
Speaking at an energy policy event hosted by Axios and NBC News in Washington, D.C., the former Texas governor and Dancing with the Stars contestant discussed his recent trip to Africa and how fossil fuels can help bring power to impoverished parts of the continent.
“But also from the standpoint of sexual assault, when the lights are on, when you have light that shines, the righteousness, if you will, on those types of acts,” Perry said. “So from the standpoint...

The former first daughter took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to wish her mom, Hillary Clinton, a happy 70th birthday, sharing a cute throwback photo of the mother-daughter duo at one of Hillary’s past birthday celebrations.

First Lady Melania Trump spoke out against bullying at a U.N. luncheon on Wednesday — in a speech the Twitterverse found more than a little ironic.
“It remains our generation’s moral imperative to take responsibility for what our children learn. We must turn our focus right now to the message and content they are exposed to on a daily basis — social media, the bullying,” she said at an event for spouses of world leaders at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

Many fans on Twitter were missing former President Barack Obama more than ever as he delivered his first public remarks since leaving office during a forum in his adopted hometown of Chicago on Monday.
At the event, which was held at the University of Chicago, Obama reflected on how he got his political start as a community organizer in the city more than 30 years ago, and facilitated a town hall-style forum on community organizing and civic engagement with young leaders from area schools.
He opened his remarks with a joke, asking the crowd: “So uh, what’s been going on while I’ve been gone?...

In the unilateral war declared on the media by President Trump, the last few days saw a battleground shift: the media started to fight back. A couple of remarkable moments stood out: Shepard Smith on Fox News angrily addressed the administration from his anchor chair on Thursday, giving a ringing defense of the media’s right – nay, responsibility – to demand answers from the president, particularly as regards to what he knew about Russian interference in the election and when he knew it. I'm thinking Shepard Smith forgot he hosts a show on Faux News. Wow.pic.twitter.com/RRphVnCC0m...
