De Winter will oversee the studio’s new 2D animation projects and bring in 2D talent as a part of Rainmaker’s strategic expansion plan.
He will report directly to Kim Dent Wilder, senior vice-president of production/operations, and will handle production on work-for-hire projects, bid on CG and 2D projects and oversee the production of development materials for original IP projects.

Vancouver-based Rainmaker Entertainment, the company behind Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper, has promoted Tara Kemes to the new position of vp of culture and talent.
Kemes (pictures) most recently served as director of talent development and joined Rainmaker in 2009.
She will spearhead the company’s recruiting efforts – starting at the Siggraph conference running in Vancouver from August 10-14 – and continue to shepherd the culture at Rainmaker as it continues to expand its creative and technical teams.

Sly Cooper, the popular video game series about an orphaned raccoon thief, is getting the film treatment. Animation studio Rainmaker Entertainment and indie production company Blockade Entertainment are teaming up to create a 3D CG-animated feature based on the popular video game. Feature film and TV exec Michael Hefferon has joined CGI animation studio Rainmaker Entertainment as president and executive producer. The announcement by Rainmaker Chairman and CEO Craig Graham reflects the Vancouver-based company’s growth in animation services and original productions such as its partnership with The Weinstein Company on Escape From Planet Earth. Toronto -- Canadian digital studio Rainmaker Entertainment on Tuesday said it has hired former Lucasfilm Animation executive producer Catherine Winder (" Star Wars: The Clone Wars") as president.
Winder, who most recently set up the Lucasfilm Animation studio and consulted for Rainmaker, arrives at the Vancouver-based animation studio along with Kim Dent Wilder as senior vp of production and operations, and Tara Kemes as manager of talent development.
Winder will be charged with developing original family content at Rainmaker, formerly Mainframe Entertainment, and expanding its fee-for-work business with U.S. producers.
First out of the pipeline from Winder is the original short feature cartoon "Luna," created by in-house producer Luke Carroll and directed by Jon Mead. The project is set for production this summer.
Jennifer Twiner McCarron will continue at Rainmaker as vp of production, overseeing day-to-day production of animated movies, DVDs, games and TV series.
