"Real Time With Bill Maher" will be sticking around HBO for at least two more seasons. Michael Lombardo, president of programming at HBO, made the announcement Tuesday.
The renewal for Seasons 11 and 12 will keep Maher's series on the network through 2014 and is part of Maher's new three-year deal with HBO.
"Bill Maher's irreverent wit and fearless insights make him the perfect observer for these unpredictable times," Lombardo said in a statement. "I'm delighted that we can continue to offer an uncensored forum for his original and thoughtful humor."
According to HBO, the Friday night series averaged 4.1 million viewers per episode during Season 10, the highest gross audience for the show in three years.
Maher serves as an executive producer on the series along with Scott Carter, Sheila Griffiths, Brad Grey, Marc Gurvitz and Billy Martin and Nancy Geller. Dean E. Johnsen is a producer on the series with Paul Casey serving as director.

Paul Reubens built on the popularity of his Pee-wee character when he released his first feature film, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure directed by Tim Burton. The movie and was a huge hit at the box office and eventually Reubens signed with CBS to develop the seminal Saturday morning children’s program Pee-wee’s Playhouse, which ran from 1986 to 1990.
Unfortunately in 1991, Paul Reubens was arrested in Florida and charged with indecent exposure. The scandal soiled his squeaky clean image, and CBS immediately dropped reruns of Pee-wee’s Playhouse from its lineup.
The actor is slowly making a comeback as of late with an exclusive Broadway engagement of The Pee-Wee Herman Show in which he brought back his character that made him famous. Well this week HBO announced that they will shoot the production to air sometime in 2011.

Unless you live in New York or Los Angeles, chances are you weren't able to see Pee-wee Herman return to the theater. No, not That theater. "The theater" as in Broadway. The pay-cable network is picking up "Real Time With Bill Maher" for a ninth season as part of a two-year deal with the host. As part of the agreement, "Real Time" will air 35 episodes beginning in January.
