Tom Brady’s first roast will likely be his last.
During an appearance on “The Pivot Podcast,” the retired quarterback revealed that some of the jokes made during his recent Netflix roast poorly affected his children and that he wouldn’t sign up to do it again. While he didn’t specify the jokes in question, many of the comedians who took the stage targeted his high-profile marriage and divorce to Gisele Bündchen, with whom he has two kids. (Brady also has a third child with Bridget Moynahan.)

One of the great things about Netflix is that even as it contributes to the slow mediocritization of filmmaking, it continues to broaden our collective cultural horizons. Yes, for every Kevin Hart's "Lift," which inexplicably had Netflix viewers enraptured earlier this year, there's a foreign film or series that we'd otherwise never have a chance to see. Last year, Indian thriller "Jaane Jaan" topped the Netflix charts in the U.S. while Mexican series "Thursday's Widows" saw similar streaming success stateside.
Now, it's Spain's turn. The country has had a mixed record when it comes to its streaming exports. Last year, god awful Spanish slasher "Killer Book Club" somehow had the Netflix charts in a stranglehold, but the country somewhat redeemed itself with the Oscar-nominated "Society of the Snow," which hit Netflix in January 2024. Now, España has delivered yet another Netflix hit with "El Correo" or "The Courier."

"Vanishing Point" isn't exactly a mainstream classic, but for a portion of moviegoers who like to see cars go fast and people do drugs, it's pretty much unmissable. Based on that description alone, it makes sense that the cult film's audience grew when it was directly referenced in Quentin Tarantino's 2007 road slasher film "Death Proof." Other directors who are major fans of the film include Edgar Wright and Steven Spielberg, who once told Entertainment Weekly it was one of his favorite movies.
The 1971 film didn't feature many stars, but did include a handful of actors who would become famous for other projects in the years following the film. Cleavon Little, who played radio DJ Super Soul in the film, went on to star in Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles" three years later, while actress Charlotte Rampling, who was Oscar nominated for her work in "45 Years" in 2016, apparently appeared as...

After being the subject of Netflix’s The Greatest Roast of All Time, Tom Brady is having some regrets as he said it affected his kids.
In a new interview, the NFL star reflected on the roast with comedians like Kevin Hart, Nikki Glaser, and Jeff Ross taking jabs at him.
“I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun,” Brady said on The Pivot Podcast. “I didn’t like the way that it affected my kids, so it’s the hardest part about like the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.”
After the show, Glaser revealed that everyone agreed that jokes about Brady’s kids were off-limits.

When an estimated 1,000 international TV buyers descend on Los Angeles for the annual TV event known as the LA Screenings, they will see a contracted market still recovering from the twin Hollywood strikes of last year and, to a somewhat lesser extent, the pandemic.
It kicks off with the LA Screenings Independents, held May 15-17 for smaller studios and distributors at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, which are then followed by screenings at the major studios’ respective lots across May 18-22 where they present their latest shows. They may also host a variety of events for their clients during those days, which may include cocktail receptions and luncheons or dinners with talent and executives.
While stalled projects ramped up as soon as the strikes ended, some delays were inevitable. “A couple of months ago I was wondering if we were going to be entertaining [buyers],” says Lisa Kramer, president, International Content Licensing,...

Retired football icon Tom Brady included ex-wife Gisele Bündchen in an Instagram post on Mother’s Day. In a carousel of images, Brady uploaded photos of his mother and three sisters with his children.
“Happy Mother’s Day to these kind, caring, compassionate and Powerful moms that I’m lucky to have in my life. None of this would be possible without your love,” Brady captioned the post.
The NFL star also featured ex-partner Bridget Moynahan, the mother of his 16-year-old son Jack. The last photo in the carousel showed Bündchen on horseback at sunset with her two children.
Bündchen was the subject of several jokes against her ex-husband in the Netflix special The Roast of Tom Brady. Comedians Kevin Hart and Nikki Glaser threw jabs at Brady’s marriage and divorce from Bündchen.
“You have seven rings. Well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back,” Glaser said, referring to Brady’s Super Bowl rings.

It’s been just a few hours since Nathalie Emmanuel has seen Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis for the first time, and she’s settling on the right words to describe the experience.
“It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen,” says the actress, talking over Zoom from London in late April, as she pauses for a second to collect her thoughts.
Coppola’s epic, which will have its red carpet world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, casts Emmanuel in a starring role opposite a stacked ensemble that includes Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, Shia Labeouf, Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Fishburne and Jason Schwartzman. “The movie feels like a real call to arms,” she says. “It asks big questions. In spite of all the horrible, hard and devastating realities of the world that we live in, how can we make it better? It feels like there’s hope or a possibility for something better.

Bradley Cooper, who has 12 Oscar nominations, might soon add his first Primetime Emmy nod to his resume for playing himself on ABC‘s “Abbott Elementary.” ABC and awards strategists confirm to Variety that the studio has submitted the actor for guest comedy actor consideration for this year’s awards.
Earlier this year, the Television Academy changed the rules for submitting in the guest acting categories, stating, “A brief cameo appearance is not eligible for entry.” However, the vague description doesn’t explicitly state whether an actor like Cooper or even Kevin Hart, who appeared in last week’s episode playing himself over a Facetime call with Jeanine Teagues (Quinta Brunson), would constitute a cameo.
The rules further clarify the definition of a guest performer: “The minimum stand-alone and contiguous screen time for eligibility is 5% of the total running time of the submitted episode.”

For one magical week, everybody with hands anywhere near advertising purse strings is being pampered like royalty — unless, lord help them, they attempted to capture one frame of the Wicked trailer. Because anybody who did that during Monday morning’s NBCUniversal upfront presentation is likely halfway to a black site by now.

The crowd laughed, but she wasn’t kidding. Shrek has now been a part of pop culture for more than 20 years, which is a wild thought for any millennial who remembers when the Mike Myers-voiced swamp-dweller first arrived on the big screen in 2001. Though he'd previously been the focus of William Steig's 1990 picture book "Shrek!," it wasn't until the first movie debuted that the character became fully embraced by the mainstream. Since then, Hollywood has done its thing and produced a stultifying amount of "Shrek" sequels and spin-offs, to the point you'll probably need a refresher on the correct order to watch the Shrek movies before delving in. But if you wanted to just stick with the perennially charming original, we wouldn't blame you. Luckily enough, that very movie can now be found on the biggest streamer in the game.

It’s been six years since Olympics superfan Lesie Jones last traveled with NBC to help cover the games, but the former SNL cast member (and current Daily Show contributor) is coming back.
Jones is the third late-night comic to be added to the network’s coverage of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
She joins Jimmy Fallon, who will be co-hosting the Closing Ceremony alongside NBC Sports commentator Mike Tirico, and Kenan Thompson, who’s set to co-host an Olympic recap series with Kevin Hart on Peacock.
Jones is no stranger to NBC’s Olympics coverage. In 2016, the network invited her to join their Rio de Janeiro coverage following her live-tweeting of the event went viral. She returned for the Winter Olympics in Korea in 2018.
This year’s summer games will mark her first time on-site at an Olympics in 6 years, since the previous two were covered remotely amid the pandemic.

Kim Kardashian was met with resounding boos at Netflix’s roast of Tom Brady — but you’d never know it unless you watched it live.
The streamer has edited out the portion of the roast where Kardashian was booed, TVLine has confirmed. (The Hollywood Reporter first noted the change.) In Sunday’s original live broadcast, Kardashian was booed loudly as she took the stage at the roast, stopping midway through her first joke to glare at the crowd as several of her fellow roasters came to her defense. But in the version currently streaming on Netflix, the booing is nowhere to be found.

The Season 11 quarter-finals took place on “The Masked Singer” Wednesday, May 8 on “The Final Four Night.” After singing their hearts out for panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora, Gumball and Poodle Moth landed in the bottom two and were forced to sing for a spot in the semi-finals. The Gumball prevailed, forcing Poodle Moth to reveal herself as Golden Globe nominee Chrissy Metz (“This is Us”). Watch her unmasking above.
“I still think I’m educating people on me being a singer,” she told host Nick Cannon during her unmasked interview. “It was part of the reason why I wanted to do this show. If I’m going to do it, we’re really going full-throttle. You don’t know how much sweat is in this suit. I said, ‘Let me challenge myself,’ and I’m glad I did. I learned a lot about myself.

17,000 fans. The reunion of an American football dynasty and the coach no one expected to show. Televised live around the world while the reputation of a man considered “the greatest of all time” sits in the hands of savage comedians and one-time foes. What could go wrong?
But here we are, just days after Tom Brady took to the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles for Sunday’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time,” and the walls are still standing. For decades roast comedy has been a beloved national tradition, once shepherded on TV by Comedy Central. It was a show that often targeted Hollywood legends or zeitgeist icons. It took the willingness of Brady, who holds a record 7 Super Bowl rings, to reinvigorate the format for streaming under host Kevin Hart. And not just any roast, which would typically be shot on a Hollywood backlot and edited ahead of its premiere.

The televised roast is one of the most unique and controversial forms of comedy the American entertainment industry has helped popularize. For decades now, public figures from all walks of life have willingly sat in front of an audience of their peers and the general public and allowed seasoned comics to mercilessly mock various aspects of their lives and careers.
The latest public figure to join this tradition is football legend Tom Brady. The star NFL athlete was the subject of a roast by a set of comics led by Kevin Hart and Jeff Ross. Unfortunately, aspects of the roast are said to have disappointed Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. The popular supermodel is said to feel that the way the roast played out once again proved that Brady cares more about his career than their time together.

Streaming giant Netflix recently came in clutch to save the day for Kim Kardashian. So, what happened that made them have to step in?
Netflix Filmed The Roast Of NFL Legend Tom Brady
It’s always a fun time for audiences when one of their favorite celebrities agrees to a roast. All their celebrity friends and others in their circle come together to tell jokes at the person’s expense. This time around, Tom Brady was a good sport about being the target for the Netflix special.
Of course, Tom Brady’s NFL career is nothing to laugh at. Brady is considered the NFL Goat by many. He made it to the Super Bowl ten times in his career, winning it all seven times. Judging by this recent roast at Netflix, even someone of his standing doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Nikki Glaser, one of the standouts from Netflix’s Tom Brady roast, has revealed that she didn’t get to deliver every joke she had planned during the live comedy event.
During an interview on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show following the roast, the comedian and actress, who earned widespread praise for her set, shared some of the punchlines the audience missed on Sunday night.
“Tom, I love your work — you’ve done on your face,” read one of Glaser’s jokes about the football star’s alleged plastic surgery that she cut. “Seriously, slow down. What is happening with your cheeks? You look like a Ken doll that was microwaved. You love deflating things, stop.”
The FGirl Island star said she also cut a joke about Cte (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), a progressive degenerative disease affecting many NFL players who have suffered repeated concussions and traumatic brain injuries.

Kim Kardashian was booed as she took the stage during “The Roast of Tom Brady” on Sunday, but you won’t see that on Netflix.
The version of the special that’s now available on the streamer bears a disclaimer reading that it was “edited from a previous livestream,” and the boos have been removed, along with host Kevin Hart’s brief attempt to pacify the crowd.
During the original stream, the shouting began as Hart introduced Kardashian and continued for more than ten seconds, forcing her to start over as she tried to tell her first joke. “Alright, alright,” she said, trying to move past the moment, as Hart called out, “Whoa, whoa, whoa” from his seat.
When Kardashian did get going, her first joke came at Hart’s expense: “People make fun of your height, but what they don’t know is you’re also pretty mean,” she said.

Kim Kardashian getting booed during The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady has been edited out by Netflix.
The entrepreneur and reality TV star was one of the celebrities who roasted the NFL legend on the Netflix special but was greeted with boos from the audience in attendance Sunday at the Kia Forum near Los Angeles.
Host Kevin Hart introduced Kardashian, and as the Kardashians star took the podium, she thanked the comedian and paused after the initial cheers. The cheers then turned to boos, prompting Kardashian to say, “All right, all right, all right.”

Sunday’s live Tom Brady Netflix roast quickly made headlines when comedian Jeff Ross made a joke that alluded to Patriots owner Robert Kraft being charged with soliciting prostitution after an investigation into massage parlors in Florida.
Though Brady told Ross at the podium, “don’t say that shit again,” Ross now says the NFL star wasn’t that upset about the joke.
During the Netflix special, Ross said of Brady’s early days with the Patriots, “So Tom became a Patriot and moved up to New England, and on the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft‘s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?’”

Who was harshly booed during Netflix’s live roast of Tom Brady?
Not Kim Kardashian. At least, not anymore. Netflix has now edited out the boos from its blistering comedic special on its service.
The reality TV icon received a harsh reception as she took the podium during The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady and tried to launch into a Kevin Hart joke, causing others onstage to yell “woah-woah” to get the audience to be more respectful.

Gisele Bündchen is said to be furious about jokes made about her marriage to Tom Brady during the NFL legend’s Netflix roast which took place this past Sunday. A source told People, “[Bündchen] is deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show.” On Sunday, May 5, the seven-time Super Bowl champion was the latest guest on Netflix’s comedy special, The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, which took place at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The live event was hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, and saw Kim Kardashian, Nikki Glaser, Robert Kraft, Jeff Ross, and Will Ferrell take the stage to brutally roast Brady about all aspects of his life. Hart first mocked Brady about Bündchen’s new boyfriend, her jiu-jitsu coach Joaquim Valente. Glaser also made fun of Brady’s divorce: “You have seven rings. But Glaser didn’t get to deliver every punchline she intended to during the live comedy event. During a post-roast interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” Glaser rattled off some of the Brady jokes she cut from her set.

Tom Brady may be the greatest of all time, but his roast wasn’t. The thing is, it maybe could have been.
Netflix is all about eventizing these days, and probably the easiest way to do that — outside of sports rights — is live programming. Sunday’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady,” had plenty of sports and too much live-ness for its own good.
The roast began at 8 p.m. Et/5 p.m. Pt, and proceeded to run, non-stop, for more than three hours. Never have commercials on Netflix been more needed. Or a video editor.
What was the point of doing this live? The danger, sure, but roasts are dangerous by their very nature. Live makes it an even thinner tightrope, we get that, but at what expense? The answer: enjoyment.
The Tom Brady roast was an Ok three-hour and four-minute roast. It could have been a great prerecorded 90-120 minute event,...

The Kia Forum hosted Netflix’s live special The Roast of Tom Brady on Sunday. Comedian Jeff Ross sparked an uncomfortable moment during his joke about New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and retired quarterback Tom Brady.
During his segment, Ross poked fun at Brady being the 199th NFL draft pick. “He sat there for days, waiting and waiting, and then you were finally picked in the sixth round when Bill Belichick’s dog stepped on the keyboard by accident,” Ross said.
Ross later said Brady told Kraft, “I’m the best decision your organization has ever made.” The audience laughed and applauded until Ross said, “Would you like a massage?”
The joke references Kraft’s 2019 Florida arrest for soliciting prostitution in a massage parlor. The charges were dropped a year later. Brady and the audience appeared uncomfortable. Brady sat front and center on stage while Kraft sat in the audience.

If there’s any truth to the old adage that history happens first as tragedy and then as farce, it was fitting that years of media sniping and public relitigation of the New England Patriots’ six Super Bowl wins culminated in Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and Robert Kraft doing shots together at a Netflix comedy festival.
When 9,100 fans made the trek to Los Angeles’ Kia Forum for “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady” (stylized as “The G.R.O.A.T”), they likely expected the mix of vicious insult comedy and cringe-inducing rebuttals that powered years of Comedy Central roasts. The event, which was part of the sprawling Netflix Is a Joke Festival and broadcasted live on the streaming service, offered those up in droves. Host Kevin Hart emceed a three-hour showcase of unfiltered comedic venom from a mix of A-list celebrities, NFL greats, and longtime roast staples...

Taylor Swift fans know all about her epic feud with Kim Kardashian. The tension between the two pop moguls began over a decade ago. And it continues into 2024 with Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department. Recently, Kardashian attended The Roast of Tom Brady to add a few jokes, and the crowd booed her. Here’s why some fans think the booing came from Swift fans.
The crowd possibly booed Kim Kardashian at Tom Brady’s roast because of Taylor Swift
The Roast of Tom Brady allowed famous folks to joke at former NFL quarterback Tom Brady’s expense. Kim Kardashian was welcomed to the stage by Kevin Hart to make a special toast. And she had more than a few zingers to throw against Brady. Unfortunately, the crowd wasn’t receptive when Kardashian walked to the microphone.
The media sensation was met with intense booing from the crowd.

The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Bradywas less a roast than a torching. Somehow, Brady kept his blinding smile through all three hours of it.
The Groat, which streamed live as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest from Inglewood, California, on Sunday night, was hosted by comedian Kevin Hart. He did not mince words, introducing the ceremony by asking if 49ers legend Joe Montana was in fact the Goat Qb being celebrated. Nope. It was indeed Brady, who earned seven Super Bowl wins over 23 seasons, mostly with the New England Patriots. And the Kia Forum suddenly looked a bit different to Hart, a noted Eagles fan: “Tom brought Boston with him,” he said. “I’ve never seen Inglewood so white.”
The proceedings moved on to roastmaster general Jeff Ross. He was no less brazen in his approach, arriving “straight from hell,” per Hart, on a carnival-like float dressed...

I've always viewed comedy as a coping mechanism for people who are in lower economic situations or just dealing with very hard circumstances. In the words of Kevin Hart: "Laugh at my pain." My upbringing was no different. I didn't really engage in comedy as much when I was younger because I was a very shy and timid kid. But humor was always around me,...
