HBO introduced Big Little Lies as mini-series last year, but it was so popular, they eventually renewed it for a second season. Now, here comes the Mosaic TV show. Like Big Little Lies it has a pretty big star taking the lead. What's more, Steven Soderbergh directed it, and alternative view points of the series are available via a new, interactive iOS/Android mobile app. That seems like a pretty big investment for a six-episode series. Could it be the next anthology? Will Mosaic be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. An HBO murder mystery Mosaic stars Sharon Stone, Garrett Hedlund, Frederick Weller, Jennifer Ferrin, Beau Bridges, Paul Reubens, Devin Ratray, Maya Kazan, James Ransone, Jeremy Bobb, Zandy Hartig, Michael Cerveris, Bridey Elliott, Brandon Ray Olive, Trey Burvant, Peter D’Alessio, Jacob Vargas, Loudon Wainwright III, and Allison Tolman.

Late last week, Variety published a column by their chief film critic Owen Gleiberman under the title “Renee Zellweger: If She No Longer Looks Like Herself Has She Become a Different Actress?,” which ostensibly used the latest trailer for “Bridget Jones’s Baby” as an entry point to talk about how the actress’ looks have changed over the years and if those physical changes have impacted both her abilities as an actress and the response to her work by her fans (of which Gleiberman counts himself). The piece was mostly met with outcry and derision, and now some of its most vocal detractors are putting their own thoughts down on paper (or, well, the internet).
In response to Gleiberman’s piece, director, actress, producer and singer Rose McGowan has penned a guest column op-ed for The Hollywood Reporter that shares her — characteristically unfiltered and very personal — thoughts on the piece.

Take another look @ actress Jennifer Aniston, who revealed it was not her choice to delete a semi-nude scene from the 2012 Judd Apatow-produced 'rom-com' feature "Wanderlust".
This confirmed what Universal Pictures said all along that "...the scene was shot a bunch of different ways, and we have the best possible version."
The original scene featured Aniston going topless in front of TV news cameras.
In "Wanderlust", directed by David Wain ("Role Models"), Aniston and Paul Rudd are a married couple who try to escape modern society by leaving their 'cushy lives' behind in New York :
"...'George' and 'Linda' are an overextended, stressed out Manhattan couple. After George is downsized out of his job, they find themselves with only one option: to move in with George’s awful brother in Atlanta.
"On the way there, they stumble upon 'Elysium', an idyllic community populated by colorful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things.

Once a month, Up in the Air director Jason Reitman hosts the Live Read for Film Independent: he picks a classic Hollywood screenplay, recasts it with modern actors and turns them loose for a one-time-only performance. It's become one of the hottest tickets in Los Angeles – but last night, busy with his upcoming movie Labor Day, Reitman was unable to host his own creation. So he recruited David Wain, the Wet Hot American Summer director, who chose Tootsie as the movie he wanted to revive. (If you've never seen the 1982 comedy,...

David Wain is not for everyone. I say that as an enormous compliment, because when I meet someone who shares my affinity for his inane comedy, I know I’ve met a kindred spirit. His films have graduated from cult novelty (Wet Hot American Summer) to the comic mainstream (Role Models and Wanderlust) but he still embraces the nonsensical. David Wain lives by the comic rule that when you run into trouble and you’re about to lose the room, double down on the gag. A little might not be funny, but total commitment has redemptive comic value. It’s...

David Wain is a catnip amongst a class of comedy nerds of the Best Week Ever generation, who grew up on bootlegged VHS copies of The State and followed the troupe’s subsequent diaspora into Viva Variety, Reno 911, and Stella. But you don’t need to be able to to recite Wet Hot American Summer by heart or fully understand what it means to be a comedy trio powered by the premise of “Ids in suits” to find him entertaining. Wain can be funny for everyone. That’s why the internet at large should join Michael Ian black in being all jazz hands about the Season 5 premiere of Wainy Days. The My Damn Channel original web series starring, created, and written by Wain first debuted n 2007. It’s storyline hasn’t changed much since. Each installment features an exaggerated version of the now 42-year-old Wain - who works in a...
