Vikings: Valhalla is a series created by Michael Hirst and Jeb Stuart starring Sam Corlett, Laura Berlin and Bradley Freegard among others.
Today we get to see the second season of Vikings: Valhalla, a series that has known how to collect all of the essence of the preceeding series and transform it into something that is even better and richer. It knows how to make good use of all the film achievements of Vkings, but recreating the impact of the violence and extracting to advantage its barbaric and devastating essence.
This is a prequel that combines history and action, which taken to the most spectacular, has known how to reach millions of viewers with this subtle combination that works so well for some and leaving the sticklers for history rather unsatisfied.
A good, really good second season that continues the rhythm and speeds it up delivering more with regards to the first season.

Do you have to have watched the History Channel’s “Vikings” series in order to fully appreciate “Vikings: Valhalla”? For this newcomer, at least, the answer is…well, yes and no.
The eight-episode season of “Valhalla,” which dropped on Netflix on Feb. 25, takes place 125 years after the events of the original “Vikings” series, with Christianity taking over Norse traditions and England’s power on the rise. So while “Valhalla” undoubtedly contains enough “Vikings” references for longtime fans to recognize, both sly and overt, the new spinoff slash sequel series prioritizes the building of a new narrative for new characters that won’t require the rather substantial foundational knowledge of “Vikings” to understand. It also incorporates historical figures like explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), and Queen Emma of Normandy (Laura Berlin), though of course with enough artistic license to twist their stories into more useful arcs for...

This Vikings: Valhalla review contains spoilers for episode 1.
“After a long voyage on a small boat, a lot of things would sound good.”
Fourteen months have passed since Michael Hirst’s Vikings concluded its six season run, and fans of the History/Netflix series bade farewell to the Lothbrok clan. Nevertheless, the Viking saga continues with a spinoff created and written by Jeb Stuart. Vikings: Valhalla introduces Leif Ericksson and a host of new characters who immediately become embroiled in parallel tales of revenge. Though one hundred years have elapsed, the world in which we find ourselves still feels familiar, and viewers need only get comfortable with the changed landscape and the new crop of historical individuals.
The series premiere gets off to a bumpy start with some painfully stilted acting in the opening sequence, but “The Greenlanders” quickly gains its footing once the principals take center stage after The St.

A new generation of adventurers powers this 11th Century Norse saga in Vikings: Valhalla, a follow-up to History Channel’s Vikings (2013-2020), set 100 years after the events of that series finale. We spoke with the action-packed series’ core trio: sea captain/explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett); his fearless pagan sister Freydis (Frida Gustavsson); and Prince of Norway, Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). They revealed how harrowing it was to shoot the intense fight/battle scenes; laughed about the hilarious first meeting on set between Corlett and Suter; and praised the show’s many badass women. That includes Freydis’ mentor, warrior, and fellow pagan Jarl Haakon (Caroline Henderson), the diplomatic and tolerant ruler of key Viking city, Kattegat. The peace there is threatened by conflict between pagan and Christian Vikings. But, Henderson hinted, her shieldmaidens are not to be messed with. Watch the full video interview above! “Vikings: Valhalla,” the spinoff to History’s popular “Vikings” series debuts on Netflix on Friday, and with it comes fierce fighting, shield maidens, and a crisis as those with the old pagan beliefs crash with those who’ve embraced Christianity. From showrunner/executive producer Jeb Stuart and set 100 years after the original “Vikings,” “Valhalla” introduces audiences to younger versions of Norsemen who went on to become famed figures throughout the world, including Leif Eriksson, King Canute (or Cnut in history) and Harald of Norway, as they became embroiled in conflicts, power grabs, and explorations that would put them in the history books.

Vikings: Valhalla returns viewers of the original series to the fictional town of Kattegatt—but a lot has changed in the past hundred years. Caroline Henderson plays Jarl Estrid Haakon, an equally fictional leader, who wisely rules over the now cosmopolitan port city.
While there was a Viking called Haakon Sigurdsson, also known as Haakon Jarl (‘jarl’ is an Old Norse word for a chief or earl), Henderson’s character bears no relation to him at all. Instead, the fictional Jarl Haakon may be used to create a connection with some of the characters from Vikings, possibly as a descendant of Ragnar Lothbrok.

Welcome to Vikings: Valhalla! It’s hard to believe it has been over three years since I received an email asking if I would be interested in exploring some sort of continuation of Michael Hirst’s epic series that had just wrapped after six seasons. As I sit here now it’s hard to believe my first reaction was: “No way I would do that.” Don’t get me wrong, I was a huge fan of the original series, but /Vikings/ had left the bar, in terms of character and action, so high you could hardly see it. Following that was a tough assignment.

Netflix has released a teaser for “Vikings: Valhalla,” a spinoff series of the original “Vikings” saga set to premiere Feb. 25 on the streaming platform.
“Vikings: Valhalla” takes place over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, chronicling the adventures of famous Vikings in history — notably explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). In the series, tensions between Vikings and English royals violently climax and an epic journey across oceans (and bloody battlefields) begins.
“Vikings: Valhalla” takes place more than 100 years after the end of the “Vikings” series, which started close to the year 793 and explored several decades after. “Vikings” was loosely based on Norse and Icelandic sagas — focusing on Viking Ragnar Lothbrok and later the lives of Ragnar’s family. The original show ran for six seasons between 2013 and 2020 on the History Channel.

Just as Disney Plus, HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video are revving up their fantasy, horror and sci-fi series slates for winter 2021-2022 debuts, Netflix is touting the abundance of genre series headed to the streamer.
Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s head of scripted series for the U.S. and Canada, announced premiere details for a slew of “geeky” shows, as well as returning fan-favorites like “Locke & Key” and “The Umbrella Academy.”

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” alum Sam Corlett has been cast in the leading role of Leif Eriksson, one of the most famous vikings ever, in Netflix’s “Vikings: Valhalla,” the streaming service said Tuesday.
Per Netflix, the series, which is a spinoff of the History Channel’s “Vikings,” begins in the early 11th century and chronicles the legendary adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived – Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, Harald Hardrada and the Norman King William the Conqueror. These men and women will blaze a path as they fight for survival in the ever-changing and evolving world.
Corlett’s Leif Eriksson is described as, “A Greenlander, raised on the outer fringes of the known world, Leif comes from a tightly-knit family steeped in the old pagan beliefs. An intrepid sailor and physically tough, Leif is our entry into a Viking world in the throes of violent change.
