A protester at a Donald Trump rally in Atlanta cut the spotlights Sunday, prompting a surreal scene in which Trump led his supporters in a chant of "Turn off the lights!" Lighting director Bob Hunter told The Associated Press that he stepped away from his booth near the front of the stage for a quick bathroom break. He returned to a chaotic scene with shouts in his headset letting him know the lights were off. He said people in the area told him a protester had reached over and pulled a wire. { "nid": 867762, "type": "news", "title": "Donald Trump

★★★★☆ "If you wait for the meek to inherit the Earth, there won’t be any Earth left for them to inherit," says Bob Hunter towards the close of Jerry Rothwell's entertaining and inspiring documentary How to Change the World. Hunter was a journalist for the Vancouver Sun when he decided to pursue a more active role in the burgeoning environmental movement that was blossoming in Canada in Sixties buoyed as it was by the hippy and peace movement and an influx of those fleeing the draft from the Us. In 1971, Richard Nixon planned an underground atomic bomb test on Amchitka, a tiny island of the coast of Alaska. Hunter and a small group of activists chartered a boat the Phyllis Cormack which they retitled Greenpeace 1 with the intention of sailing to the island and putting themselves in harm’s way in order to draw world attention to the nuclear test and hopefully prevent it.

Actor Tuc Watkins, best known for his role as David Vickers on "One Life to Live" and Bob Hunter on "Desperate Housewives," took to his Facebook page to post about Cam and Mitch, the gay couple on "Modern Family" played by Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. "Hmm. I think 'Modern Family' is clever, hilarious, even terrifically subtle at times," he posted. "But, for the most part, I have a hard time laughing at the gay guys. In fact, I kinda cringe. It feels a little bit like the gay equivalent of 'blackface.' It doesn’t feel 'modern' at all... Sure, people come in all shapes, sizes, etc. So why are we fed such 80s stereotypes every week?" Watkins, who joined "One Life to Live" in 1994, came out as gay in 2013. Jesse Tyler Ferguson responded to his post with his own feelings about Cam and Mitch. Sorry you feel that way Tuc.

Life imitated art, and vice-versa, when soap star Tuc Watkins joined the cast of Desperate Housewives in 2007. As Susan Delfino's neighbor Bob Hunter, Watkins played one-half of a gay couple (with Kevin Rahm) who wanted to adopt a baby. The storyline hit close to home for the One Life to Live actor; unbeknownst to fans, he was going through a similar experience in real life. Speaking with Marie Osmond in a new interview airing Monday, April 29, on Osmond's Hallmark Channel talk show Marie, Watkins reveals [...]...

Looking back over the past eight seasons of Desperate Housewives, there have been many familiar faces that have popped in and out of the series tying its hilarious stories together. Straddling the worlds of drama and comedy, the series helped define a new television term “dramedy.” Even when life is at its worst, there is a silver-lining of laughter embedded into the series. From Mary Alice’s suicide to the first season murders of Deidre Taylor, Martha Huber, Rex Van de Kamp, to the Fairview Strangler, the plane crash and the tornado, as well as the untimely demises of Edie Britt, Nora Huntington, and Mike Delfino – life on Wisteria Lane has never been a calm, peaceful and safe place to live; but it was always a fun place to visit – if only to watch all the outrageous stories brought to life!

This superb poster for Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye—one of my very favorite films—was illustrated by the great Richard Amsel (1947-1985). Amsel was a prodigy whose career hit the ground running when, aged 22 and still a student at the Philadelphia College of Art, he won a nationwide contest sponsored by 20th Century Fox to design a poster for Hello Dolly. For the next 15 years, until his untimely AIDS-related death at the age of 37, Amsel illustrated some of the best loved posters of the '70s and early '80s, including, most famously, those for The Sting and Raiders of the Lost Ark. His poster for The Long Goodbye is one of his more elegantly spare designs, conveying Elliott Gould's rumpled, tough guy charm as Philip Marlowe, as well as a hint of mystery in Nina Van Pallandt's robed figure in the doorway. Just the elements...

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

A film about the birth of environmental group Greenpeace, in the 1970's, will start shooting soon. Two books written by the charity founders will be adapted into a screenplay: "Greenpeace: How a Group of Ecologists, Journalists and Visionaries Changed the World" by Rex Weyler, and "Warriors of the Rainbow: A Chronicle of the Greenpeace Movement" by Bob Hunter. The director in charge of translating the project to the screen is none other than Jon Turteltaub, which may not be for the best: he is responsible for "The Kid" with Bruce Willis, "Instinct" with Anthony Hopkins, "Phenomenon" with John Travolta, as well as "National Treasure" and its sequel "National Treasure 2: The Book of Secrets" with Nicolas Cage, amongst other ge...

Jon Turteltaub, the director behind the National Treasure films as well as the upcoming The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, is in talks to direct a film based on the origins of the Greenpeace movement in the 1970s and 1980s — specifically, its founders, Bob Hunter and Rex Weyler.
I’m actually a little surprised that no one has attempted to put this story on film before, because the rise of this organization was quite an impressive feat from an unlikely alliance of teachers, pacifists and ecologists, who “attempted — often successfully — to disrupt American and French nuclear bomb tests, Japanese and Russian whaling ships and Norwegian infant harp seal hunters. In the process, they inadvertently started a movement that is still going strong nearly four decades later.”
