Paul Akister has been eliminated from the 'X Factor'. The 25-year-old sang a heartfelt rendition of 'Clown' by Emeli Sande in tonight's (09.11.14) sing-off but he was booted out after receiving the least public votes. Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh chose to save crooner Jay James whilst Mel B and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini saved the former pub singer. Paul was visibly upset after hearing his fate and was unable to talk. His mentor, Mel, only spoke to criticise the public's decision. She said: ''He is incredible. That's wrong.'' Paul impressed the judges this year when he sang 'Jealous Guy' by John Lennon at auditions. He also appeared...

Robert Pattinson enjoyed a boozy night with this year's 'X Factor' contestants in Hollywood. The 'Twilight' star - whose sister Lizzy is a hopeful in the over 25s category - treated the singers to drinks at the Rainbow Lounge on the Sunset Strip following a grueling day of auditions at their mentor Simon Cowell's La home. According to The Sun newspaper, Robert, 28, spent a few hundred dollars on beverages for the group - made up of Lizzy, Fleur East, Ben Haenow, Jay James, Helen Fulthorpe and Stevi Ritchie - and refused to let them foot the bill all night.

X Factor returned at the weekend with Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole trying to salvage a show that has felt like it is stagnating in a Gary Barlow bubble of dreariness over the last two series.
X Factor first review: Cowell brings back sparkle, but not the talent
The new X Factor judges for 2014: What's the snap verdict?
Can you remember who won last year? Can you remember any of the finalists? Exactly. The show needed a rocket up its jacksie and, although this weekend's shows weren't perfect, they did at least bring back the show's old sense of humour.
If you missed it and don't fancy sitting through 37 ad breaks on ITV Player or the judges' 'bantz', here are the 11 auditions that you need to see.

Jay James Picton, one of the stand-out acts from the first weekend of X Factor series 11, has been criticised by viewers after it was revealed that the singer already had a record deal.
The singer's version of 'Say Something' by A Great Big World brought judge Mel B to tears, and had Simon Cowell describing his vocal abilities as "outstanding".
However, some viewers have complained that Picton's previous musical experiences - which include recording with John Legend and Booker T Jones - have been covered up by producers.
The 30-year-old, who was once billed as the next Adele, released the album Play It By Heart on the Decca label and played as a support act for Jessie J and Rebecca Ferguson.
You can listen to one of Picton's original tracks below:

It's been four years since Simon Cowell was last on the X Factor panel in the UK. In his last series, he introduced the world to One Direction, the ratings were sky high and his show was the only thing people talked about on Monday morning at work.
He returns, after having his Us version of the show flop and dumped, to find that The X Factor is no longer the dominant force in British television.
BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing now reigns supreme in the ratings war and the tabloids and British public seem more interested in melting frozen Alaskas and Mary Berry's opinion on soggy bottoms than his reunion with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini behind the judges' desk.
Series 11 of The X Factor is the biggest challenge that Cowell has faced since he first controversially launched the show, spinning off his new found superstar status on Pop Idol.

London, July 28: Welsh singer-songwriter Jay James Picton thinks pop star Jessie J is an inspiration to British artistes.
"She's amazing. I'm very rarely complementary towards certain artistes, but Jessie is certainly an artiste to be proud of with what Britain brings out," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Picton as saying.
"Everything that she does is 100 percent who she is. When you see her on stage, she is herself. She's a real inspiration,".

The seemingly endless wait for the Syfy summer schedule is finally over! There is good news and bad, and one thing that is both good and bad. Let’s start with that: the Eureka Season Finale. We love Eureka, so every episode is good news; the fact that it’s a series finale, not so much. Mark your calendars – and have plenty of Kleenex in stock – for July 16 at 9/8c. Right after Comic-Con, which is early this year. We’ll see if that means a panel or not.
The good news: Warehouse 13 and Alphas return on July 23. The hmmm news is that Lost Girl will move to Fridays at 10 on July 20. Hey That’S Haven’S Spot. So Where The Heck Is Haven? Admittedly we had a head’s up that Haven would be pushed to fall when we learned that the DVDs for Season 2 weren’t being released until September but Argh.

CANNES -- A fading Canadian steel town with its industrial smokestacks and furnaces marks the end of the line for an over-the-hill '80s rock star at the start of Olivier Assayas' In Competition entry, "Clean". As a heroin overdose claims Lee Hauser (James Johnston) alone in his cheap hotel room, Emily Wang (Maggie Cheung), Lee's companion and the mother of his child, sits in a car stoned on the same drug staring at the fiery apocalyptic images of a dying era.
Assayas views the record industry as being not far removed from the steel-making business. Hot smelters and passionate effort fuel them both, yet they are both shiny and mechanical and driven by profit. And they are both dangerous.
The music world seen here is one of self-interest, ego and quick satisfactions. Assayas' film is complex and absorbing, but he keeps everything at arm's length. And with Cheung giving an interesting but chilly performance, only committed audiences will warm to it.
There's a lot of Brian Eno on the soundtrack, and Assayas keeps his camera constantly moving so that the film has a jittery feel in synch with Emily's drug-fueled scatter-shot existence. She moves around a lot, too, from Canada to Paris and London, with people everywhere who know and mostly distrust her.
The story the film wants to get on with is Emily's late-blooming responsibility as a mother, but Assayas takes his time getting to it. While Emily and Hauser led their peripatetic rock 'n' roll life, their son, Jay James Dennis), was parked with his grandparents, Albrecht and Rosemary, in Vancouver. Nick Nolte and Martha Henry bring an entirely different tone to the proceedings, playing the aging and worried grandparents with gravitas leavened by shrewd wit.
They obtain a court order so that they can continue to raise the boy, though Albrecht is sympathetic to Emily's plight. Emily deals with her grief and the end of her synthetic good life in her usual way: by scoring more drugs. Only slowly does she realize that salvation lies in getting clean and becoming a real mother, and what suspense the film has lies in whether the stars still in her eyes will get in the way.
The film looks good, with rich colors and images from cinematographer Eric Gautier, but Emily's shallow world is heavily populated, and some sequences seem too busy and unnecessary. For instance, Emily goes to seek work from a female television executive, an ex-lover, and we go off on an unhelpful sidetrack about the executive's affair with her female assistant, who makes a play for Emily, but it doesn't tell us anything.
Cheung's scenes with Emily's son are perhaps deliberately stilted, but they're not persuasive in respect to the character's rediscovered maternal instincts. Cheung does fine work in the frantic sequences of drugs and music, but while the distance she creates in the quieter episodes may be intentional, it puts up a barrier that's difficult to overcome with much sympathy.
