Corey Hawkins has one very special person to credit for teaching him about saving the world: his mother.
On Super Bowl Sunday, audiences watched Hawkins make his debut as ex-Army Ranger Eric Carter in Fox’s new action drama series, 24: Legacy, a spin-off of Kiefer Sutherland‘s 24.
“Corey is literally the only person we gave to ,” writer Evan Katz told emmy magazine about Hawkins’ role as protagonist Carter.
Though Hawkins, 28, grew up in gang-ridden Washington D.C., he had his police-officer mother pointing and guiding him in the right direction — and now hopes to utilize his new TV role...

We had the opportunity to sit with the executive producers of 24: Legacy at New York Comic Con this past fall.
We have the full chat with Evan Katz, Howard Gordon and Manny Coto in the video below.
During the discussion they express their feelings on Jimmy Smit's presence being one of his qualifications as President, and share thoughts on the past presidents from other installments of 24.
Co-star Miranda Otto, too, has the weight, intelligence and complexity to bring a natural feel to her role.
But what about Corey Hawkins? They talk about whether he's prepared for 24 mania and the rabid fandom that comes from starring on a TV show versus what he's experienced from his starring turn in Straight Outta Compton.
They also discuss Hawkins' classical training and his grace as a performer, which lends itself to his undeniable charisma.

CTU has a new hero. Here are some spoiler-free thoughts on Fox's new reboot, 24: Legacy, which arrived in the UK last night...
As cynical and sick of franchises, reboots, revivals, and remakes as we are or pretend to be in the comments section (everyone seemed pretty stoked about Rogue One), audiences are smart enough to know that Hollywood won’t budge on this trend anytime soon. They’ll shake every last dollar they can get out of the Revival Era as long as we keep our sticky fingers on our smartphones, tablets, and remotes.

Not to be outdone by Marvel’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Adaptation, Idw is getting back into the tie-in game when 24: Legacy makes the jump to the comic book medium with Rules of Engagement.
In the past, Idw has found much success with a variety of series tied to properties originating in television and video games. Whether it be G.I. Joe, Silent Hill, or Metal Gear Solid, they’ve offered something for just about anybody. And seeing as how this isn’t their first rodeo involving 24, it only makes sense continuing that proud tradition.
Perhaps this five-part limited series will make the new Fox show an easier sell. After all, when one becomes attached to Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer for so long, getting used to another character may take some time. Seeing as how newcomer Eric Carter’s background will be detailed in this project,...

Originally one of Jack Bauer’s closest allies in 24 before his apparent demise, Tony Almeida returned from the dead as a villain only for it to later be revealed that he was working undercover in a bid to exact revenge on the organisation responsible for the murder of his wife. Going off book, Tony broke a lot of laws in his quest for vengeance and ultimately ended up behind bars.
However, much to the surprise of fans everywhere, a short movie included with the home release of 24: Live Another Day revealed that Tony had been given the chance to escape captivity, setting up a possible return for the character somewhere down the line. Well, we now know that he’ll return in upcoming spinoff series 24: Legacy.

Tony Almeida will be part of 24: Legacy.
Carlos Bernard has signed up to appear on the rebooted series, but he won't be a series regular.
He will appear on a recurring capacity.
If you recall, Tony Almeida was last seen being carted off to jail at the conclusion of 24 Season 7.
The character evolved a lot throughout the original series.
He was apparently killed off on 24 Season 5, but somehow managed to return as a villain.
It changed the dynamics for his character, but his appearance on the new iteration of the hit series will probably find him getting a reprieve from jail.
Either that, or he has intel on the newest terrorist to stalk the Counter Terrorist Unit.
“Tony Almeida is one of the most indelible personalities in the 24 universe, at times loyal and loving, other times an utterly amoral, ruthless mercenary,” said Legacy‘s co-showrunners Manny Coto and Evan Katz in a statement.

Tick, tock, tick, tock… Tony!
Carlos Bernard has signed on to reprise his signature role as Tony Almeida on a recurring basis in Fox’s forthcoming 24: Legacy reboot, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Tony was killed off in Season 5, only to be resurrected — and rebranded as a villain — at the start of Season 7. He was last seen being carted off to jail in the Season 7 finale, although he popped up two years ago in a special feature in the Live Another Day Blu-Ray set. The quasi-short film, 24: Solitary, chronicled Tony’s life in prison, including his efforts to break out.

When it began in 2001, the drama series 24 was a groundbreaking endeavour. With its events unfolding in ‘real time’ over the course of every hour-long episode, the show followed the efforts of counter terrorism agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) as he continually tried to save the world from those that sought to blow it up, or poison it, or infiltrate the U.S Presidency, or kill people that he didn’t want dead.
The show ran for eight seasons in its original run, and returned for a 12 episode limited series – 24: Live Another Day – in 2014. By that point, those episodes reflected the evolution of the show – into a two-hander focused on Bauer, and his colleague Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub). As producers gear up for brand new 24 antics with 24: Legacy, it comes with the news that Chloe might be set to return.

As of right now, two X-Men inspired TV projects are in development at Fox. They are called Legion and Hellfire. It seems Bryan Singer is going to have a hand in bringing these projects to life.
Legion is set up at FX and it will be written and produced by Fargo creator Noah Hawley. We previously learned that this show "introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. This new take on "24" features an all-new cast of characters and is structured in the same style of the original series. The story revolves around a military hero (Corey Hawkins) who returns to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back - compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life.
Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits and Dan Bucatinsky co-star in the series which Manny Coto, Evan Katz, Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer are producing. Stephen Hopkins directed the pilot.
Meanwhile "Star" revolves around three girls (newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O'Grady) who come together to form a band.

Miranda Otto ("The Lord of the Rings," "Homeland") has been tapped to play the co-lead in Fox's "24: Legacy" reboot opposite Corey Hawkins ("Straight Outta Compton").
Though structured in the same style of the original series, this features an all-new cast of characters and it's unclear how much of the original continuity from the show will be adhered to at this point. What is known is that none of the previous characters, such as Kiefer Suthlerland's Jack Bauer, will return.
Hawkins plays a military hero returning to the U.S. who finds that trouble has followed him back - compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.
Otto plays Rebecca Ingram, the blazingly smart former head of CTU who is now married to Senator John Donovan and struggles with second thoughts about having left the counter-terrorism agency.

After an impressive stint on Homeland, Miranda Otto has now landed a leading role in 24: Legacy. News that Fox are rebooting the franchise, which starred Kiefer Sutherland as CTU agent Jack Bauer, has been met with a mixed response so far, especially as there are no plans for Bauer – whose story was not satisfyingly wrapped up in 24: Live Another Day – to return here.
Regardless, Otto is playing Rebecca Ingram, a character who is described as the blazing smart former head of CTU. Now married to Senator John Donovan, Rebecca is struggling with second thoughts about having left the counterterrorism agency. How she’s going to factor into the series isn’t clear, though it sounds like her role in 24: Legacy will be a pivotal one.

New story, new organization, and now entirely new lead in the form of Straight Outta Compton and The Walking Dead‘s Corey Hawkins, who has been cast to headline Fox’s imminent reboot, 24: Legacy.
Word of Hawkins landing the male lead role in the studio’s reimagining comes mere days after Fox formally ordered a pilot of the real-time action series. With Kiefer Sutherland’s indelible Jack Bauer now out of the picture, Hawkins has some mighty shoes to fill as newcomer Eric Carter, though if the actor’s magnetic performance as a young Dr. Dre in F. Gary Gray’s musical biopic is anything to go by, 24 fans can be quietly confident going into Fox’s soft reboot.
As for how the character fits into this extension of the show’s universe, we understand Carter is a former Army Ranger drawn to America’s CTU (Counter-Terrorism Unit) after...

After lengthy negotiations, "Straight Outta Compton" and "The Walking Dead" actor Corey Hawkins (who played Dr. Dre) has signed on as the male lead in Fox's upcoming "24: Legacy" pilot - a reboot of the long-running action franchise.
Hawkins will play Eric Carter, a character who succeeds Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer as the hero on the show. Sutherland is not returning in any capacity at this time, though former director Stephen Hopkins will helm while Manny Coto and Evan Katz are back to pen the pilot.
The story follows Carter, a former Army Ranger with a very rough background, returning to the United States and his home in Virginia with his wife Nicole. Earlier, we received news that Fox's upcoming X-Men spin-off series Hellfire wouldn't be arriving until early 2017. Now, we have a much bigger update. Payne, who worked with Katz & Coto to develop the story and were set to pen the script, have also exited. Before you get ahead of yourself and think the worst, here's why the original creators have decided to switch gears - it's because Hellfire is on a much slower development path, as evidenced by its expected 2017 premiere date, and with 24: Legacy, Fox's new Jack Bauer-less 24 continuation, receiving a pilot order for this upcoming television season, Katz & Coto, who both served as executive producers on 24 & 24: Live Another Day, decided to shift their focus to the more imminent series.
