From 1958 to 1983, the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland – which was edited by the legendary Forrest J Ackerman, was a great source of information and entertainment for genre fans. A revival of the magazine was headed up by Ray Ferry – who ran into some legal issues with Ackerman – from 1993 to 2008, and then the rights to the logo and title were purchased by Philip Kim, who had “an agreement with Ackerman to use his trademarks to retain the magazine’s original look and feel”. Now Famous Monsters of Filmland is under new ownership, as Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor revealed to Rolling Stone that he has purchased the rights to the brand.

Lisa Ling, the former “View” co-host who currently emcees “This Is Life with Lisa Ling” on CNN, has inked an overall deal with forthcoming streaming service HBO Max.
As part of the deal, which marks an expansion of Ling’s relationship with CNN and HBO Max parent company WarnerMedia, HBO Max has given the greenlight to her travel docuseries “Birth, Wedding, Funeral.” HBO Max will also have a first look at new projects Ling develops.

CNN journalist Lisa Ling has signed an overall deal with WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service, HBO Max. The first project greenlit under the pact is travel docuseries “Birth, Wedding, Funeral,” which she will produce with Dan Rather.
