Director Sarvesh Mewara, who is all geared up for the release of upcoming action drama ‘Tejas’ starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead, has spilled the beans on the inspiration behind the dialogue ‘When in Doubt, Think About The Nation’. Well-studded with nail-biting action sequences, a grand canvas, and an immensely thought-provoking story of national pride, the trailer of ‘Tejas’ has indeed arrived as a treat for the audiences. Apart from all these intriguing elements, what especially stayed with people was the heavy dialogues that profoundly triggered the spirit of national pride.
The dialogue ‘When in Doubt, Think About The Nation’ comes along with the story from Sarvesh, as it has been inspired by producer Ronnie Screwvala’s creation ‘Rang De Basanti’.
The 2006 movie ‘Rang De Basanti’ was written, and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. It stars Aamir Khan, Siddharth, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor and British actress Alice Patten.

Khufiya (Netflix)
Starring Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Atul Kulkarni , Azmeri Haque Badhon
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj
Cutting through the acres of ambiguity and symbolisms that run through his work, Vishal Bhardwaj delivers his most coherent cogent and compelling film in years.
Khufiya is many things at the same time. It is on the topmost layer an espionage thriller about a spy at Raw selling confidential information to the neighbouring country. Ali Fazal plays this character with such straggling imprecision that I thought we would lose focus on the spy’s brazen antics (how did he get away with it for so long?!).
But no. Bhardwaj, fully in charge for once wastes no time in exploring hazy characters played by lazy actors. His focus is the ever-resplendent Tabu who has earlier created enduring magic for Vishal in Maqbool and Haider. In Khufiya, Tabu plays a number of roles, and I...

This was only exacerbated by the high exposure to the Ott platforms for some sections of society. This list will consider films that marked their theatrical release in India in 2022 and will also include direct digital releases or things like Netflix originals. Happy Family, Conditions Apply(Prime)
Directed by Aatish Kapadia, Jamnadas Majethia
Dysfunctional families are the new functional. Coincidentally the feature film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and the series Happy Family, Conditions Apply released this week, share an affinity for the joint family, creaky joints and all, not to mention their lengthy V. Shantaram styled titles.
Happy Family is a strange animal. It infuriates and amuses, exasperates and endears itself provided you stay non-judgemental about the borderline obsessive characters as well as about the content which gives them a freeflowing movement that frequently makes them look foolish.
Part of our mixed feelings come from the fact that the characters, each so sharply written you feel you know him or her (although you don’t really want to), are like that: highly annoying and fixated in their opinions. None more so than Hemlata Dholakia, played smirkingly by the magnificent Ratna Pathak Shah...

Laal Singh Chaddha
Starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh
Directed by Advait Chandan
Once in a while, in this imperfect world, we get a near-perfect film about flawed characters trying to stay on the straight and narrow path. Actor-turned-screenwriter Atul Kulkarni’s adaptation of Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 classic Forrest Gump is every bit as charming disarming, and enchanting as the original, and then some more.
Some characters, especially that of the heroine, is re-written to suit current times. But the spirit of innocence and faith remains intact. Through the naïve uncorrupted eyes of Laal Singh Chaddha, we get a world-view of history as it unfolds from the Partition to the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
Each time communal/ethnic riots erupt , Laal’s mother(Mona Singh, yesterday’s Jassi, today’s Mataji) warns her son to stay indoors, “Baahar mat jaana malaria phaila hua hai.”

The actress agrees that she is in constant competition with herself as there is a pressure to deliver.
Asked if she feels the pressure to up her own game with every character she plays, Kareena in a conversation with Ians said: “There is always pressure to deliver because otherwise It is not possible to last 22 years in the career. The idea is to constantly keep trying to change yourself on screen and keep it real off screen. Just doing different characters and enjoying the process of acting is what I love.”

Director Advait Chandan is too literal in his adaptation of the 90s classic but finds a warmth and political honesty the original lacks
Bollywood megastar Aamir Khan’s “Hanks-ish likability” is tested to the limit by his new project with his Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan: a Hindi remake of Forrest Gump, late 20th-century Hollywood’s pre-eminent Rorschach blot. Sending Gump eastwards opens new channels of history and culture with screenwriter Atul Kulkarni swapping in golgappa for chocolate boxes. Yet the source has largely been swallowed whole: the CG feather, the sappy score, the picaresque storytelling and parkbench philosophy, the running with and without callipers. Assiduously replicating its predecessor’s strengths and weaknesses, the one thing it risks is that a three-word summary – Hindi Forrest Gump – would tell you all you ever needed to know about it.
Tweaks of emphasis do become apparent. Unloading his frankly exhausting life story onto Chandigarh’s unluckiest commuters,...

A short way into “Laal Singh Chaddha,” the Indian adaptation of “Forrest Gump” from Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, the film shows its true colors. After an opening sequence that follows a CGI feather — just like the one in Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 film — we meet our hero Laal (Aamir Khan), an amiable Sikh man who boards a train with small red box in hand. As Laal begins chatting with an uninterested seatmate, audiences will likely be tempted to take in the “Forrest Gump” of it all, ready for him to crack open a classic Indian mithai box and offer sweets to his fellow passengers.
The box, it turns out, is full of gol gappe. Not sandesh or barfi or soan papdi or any other sweet, but the crisp rounds of hollow bread that Indians crack open and fill with peas, potatoes, seasoning, and delicious, spicy water that looks like it came straight from the gutter.

Based on their mostly unfortunate track record, with a few commendable exceptions, it seems almost justifiably instinctual to decry any company’s intent to pursue English-language remakes of celebrated titles in other tongues and from other geographical settings.
But when the opposite phenomenon occurs, and a filmmaker abroad takes on a new version of a Hollywood property, the resulting effort can turn out just as disappointing.
Enter “Laal Singh Chaddha,” the Indian reimagining of Robert Zemeckis’ “Forrest Gump,” a financially successful and Oscar-winning drama that has lost its luster in the years since it was released in 1994, the more its blatantly questionable tropes are reexamined.

Kahani Sonu’s Version Video – YouTube
One of the hallmarks of Hindi films is the songs that are within a film. It can be a full-on dance sequence, a gorgeous love ballad, a song for a montage, or just a song to set the scene. Each film has its own musical voice, and for Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, the composer to create the soundtrack of the film is the great Pritam. We have heard five of the incredible songs with the lyrical videos they have released. Now we get our first full video, and it is magical.
It is a new version of the gorgeous song ‘Kahani’ but this time the incredible vocals are given by Sonu Nigam. As with all the musical pieces of Laal Singh Chaddha, fans are really loving every note! In fact, ‘Kahani: Sonu’s version’ has hit over 9 million views in just 24 hours on YouTube alone.
