Brooke Lynn Hytes is an incredibly talented drag queen who acts as a host and judge on Canada’s Drag Race. It’s a spinoff to the popular RuPaul’s Drag Race, but RuPaul himself doesn’t appear as the usual face at the center of it. Brooke Lynn owns hosting and judging, but she isn’t alone in doing so. How much power does she actually have when it comes to telling a queen to “sashay away?”

Before Canada’s Drag Race ever aired, Brooke Lynn starred on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11. She demonstrated charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent in spades, ultimately making it to the finale. Brooke Lynn impressed RuPaul and television audiences worldwide with her polished looks, tremendous lip-syncing talents, and top-notch makeup. However, she lost the final lip sync against Yvie Oddly, who took home the crown.

The words “Queen of the North” were spoken so many times during Thursday’s finale of Canada’s Drag Race, we half-expected Sansa Stark to appear on the main stage like Beetlejuice.
Sadly, this was not the Game of Thrones crossover of our dreams. Instead, it found the three remaining contestants — Icesis Couture, Kendall Gender and Pythia — recording and performing their own verses to Brooke Lynn Hytes’ single “Queen of the North,” which was not a song we knew existed before watching this episode. (It seems Canada’s hostess has picked up a few marketing tricks from Mama Ru.)

Heading into Thursday’s grand finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6, about 39 percent of TVLine readers believed that Kylie Sonique Love would end the hour with a scepter in hand. So, how did that prediction turn out? Drumroll please…
Pretty darn well! Following the season’s final challenge, Kylie — who originally placed ninth way back in Drag Race‘s second season, 11 freaking years ago — was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of esteemed queens like Chad Michaels, Alaska, Trixie Mattel, Trinity the Tuck, Monet X Change and Shea Coulee. All hail.

There’s no date set for when “Canada’s Drag Race” Season 2 will premiere, but last month fans got more news about the judges’ panel shakeup that’s been in flux since March. Two judges are out and three new ones have been named.
Season 1 saw “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 11 runner-up Brooke Lynn Hytes, actor Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and model Stacey McKenzie judging the 12 competing queens. In March, Jeffrey announced he wouldn’t be returning to the show, and in late June Stacey followed his lead. That left Brooke Lynn as the sole returning judge from Season 1.
The three new judges joining Brooke Lynn are actress Amanda Brugel, fashion stylist Brad Goreski and broadcaster Traci Melchor. Brooke Lynn, known as Brock Edward Hayhoe when not in drag, is a gay man, as is Brad. Both Amanda and Traci are straight women. The 50-50 split between gay men and straight women leaves zero...

After two previous high placements, Jimbo finally earned herself a maxi challenge win with her portrayal of Joan Rivers in the game and with a stunning runway look in the “Night of a Thousand Celines” category. Stumbling with their character depictions were Priyanka as Miss Cleo and Kiara as Mariah Carey, the latter of which lost to Priyanka in a fiercely fought best-of-all-time lip sync battle.

In last week’s fourth episode, the nine remaining queens split into three fashion houses to create a 3-look collection of looks using recyclable materials. Rita Baga became the first two-time challenge winner, leading her group to victory with their made-from-plastic creations. On the losing side was Team Paper, with Tynomi Banks and Ilona Verley declared the bottom two of the week. Despite Ilona’s dramatic overreaction and not wanting to go head-to-head against her friend, Tynomi’s third straight trip to the lip sync was one too many and the judges had no choice but to send her home.

U.K. digital channel BBC Three has acquired “Canada’s Drag Race.”
Twelve Canadian drag artists will compete for the title of ‘Canada’s First Drag Superstar’ in the 10 x 60′ show that has elements of the popular “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and “Drag Race U.K.”
The three permanent judges include Brooke Lynn Hytes, an alumni of “Drag Race” season 11, model and Lgbqt+ activist Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, and supermodel Stacey McKenzie. A celebrity guest host will join them each week. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” judge, Michelle Visage, will appear as a guest judge.
BBC’s acquisition of the show continues the trend of U.K. broadcasters acquiring international versions of successful formats to air during the Covid-19 period. ITV recently picked up “Love Island Australia” to air in place of the U.K. summer edition, which was last month canceled for the year due to concerns around filming the show abroad amid the pandemic.
