South by Southwest (SXSW) is just one of many film festivals, we here at Sound On Sight cover yearly. The fest, which takes place every spring in Austin, Texas, began in 1987, and has continued to grow in size every year. The fest announced the first wave of films back in early January, and the lineup included some highly anticipated films such as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Evil Dead, Downloaded and Spring Breakers. Now the full lineup has been announced, and it just might be one of the best lineups the festival has ever programmed.
SXSW takes place March 8-16 in Austin Texas. Here are just some of the films we are excited about.
Narrative Feature Competition – This year’s 8 films were selected from 1,191 submissions. Each film is a World Premiere.

Just like tropical storms and hurricanes, famous soap opera women named Emily tend to be unpredictable and even dangerous--and fun to follow!
Since 1953, Atlantic tropical storms have been named from lists originated by the National Hurricane Center. The original name-lists featured only women's names, but in 1979, men's names were introduced. Of course, in the soap opera world, the best dramatic, tempestuous and unpredictable characters are almost always women.
In honor of Emily the Tropical Storm, here are our five favorite soap opera women named Emily (characters and actors).
1. Emily Stewart
Emily Stewart is a woman with many talents, including being a newspaper mogul and high class prostitute. Played (over the years) by Janine Sagan, Pat Reynolds, Jenny Harris, Marissa Morel, Colleen McDermott, Melanie Smith and Kelley Menighan Hensley, she churned up As The World Turns from April 1972 to September 2010, and made a brief appearance on The Young And The Restless in March 2007. Although it is facing cancellation after 53 years on TV, "As the World Turns" stole the spotlight at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards. On Sunday, June 27 at the Las Vegas Hilton, the soap opera, which airs each weekday on CBS and will end its run in September, has won trophies for three of its stars, Michael Park, Maura West and Julie Pinson.
Michael won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Maura nabbed the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Julie secured the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Upon accepting his award, tearful Michael in particular thanked his on-screen romance Maura and bid an emotional farewell to the show.
"We had to say goodbye to over 60 members of our family on Wednesday. It was heartbreaking, and I pray you never have to endure what we endured on Wednesday," the 41-year-old actor who won his first Emmy on the special night said.

The 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards host Regis Philbin dedicated a few minutes to "As the World Turns". He invited the show's stars and real-life married couple Jon Hensley and Kelley Menighan to the stage to introduce a video tribute for the show that ends its 54 years run this Fall.
"Not only we fall in love with the show, we fell in love with each other," Kelley said. Her husband added, "And it's no wonder, since its debut in 1956, the show has been always about people who care about each other. About six generations of family who love, learn, change, grew and kept their world turning everyday."
Then a montage of the show, starting when it was black and white and ending with this year's run, was broadcast.
"As the World Turns" is nominated for 13 at this year's awards and has won one so far through Julie Pinson. CBS is airing the live telecast.

Nikki Nelson/WENN As The World Turns star Kelley Menighan Hensley recently enjoyed a fun family vacation in Naples, Fla., but the trip got off to a rocky start. “I made the reservation, and when I printed out the itinerary I read the arrival instead of the departure,” she explains to Soap Opera Weekly. “We’re driving to the airport and I looked at what I’d printed and I go [to husband and co-star Jon Hensley], ‘Before I tell you, do not kill me.’”
“Jon is like, ‘What did you do?’ And then I immediately just burst into tears because I felt so bad. My kids had their inner tubes basically around their waists at this point. So we got to the airport and there were no flights. We drove home to New Jersey and took a later flight. My kids were like, ‘It’s okay mom.’”
Fortunately, once the family of five — which includes children Sophie May,...

Getting To Know … Shameless
The love life of gay teenager Ian Gallagher (Gerard Kearns) on the U.K. series Shameless has never been easy. Whether it’s having to steal a bed just so he can have sex with his hot new boyfriend (somehow landing in prison because of it), trying to keep his ongoing affair with a married man a secret, or that fling with a homophobic drug dealer who has a strange sexual quirk (big surprise), something always comes along to make finding love (or just getting laid) a trying ordeal for poor Ian.
