Elvis Presley was only married once, but he had many romantic partners in his lifetime. His entourage sought out women for him after shows, and he often pursued his co-stars. When looking for a romantic partner, Elvis wanted to avoid women with one physical characteristic.
Elvis avoided romantic partners with a specific physical trait
As Elvis’ entourage sought out women to set him up with, they became well acquainted with the singer’s type. He preferred petite, feminine brunettes, much like Priscilla Presley. Elvis’ desire for a smaller woman meant he specifically avoided partners with large feet.
“He likes them about five foot four, five foot five, and there is one thing that really turns him off and that is chicks with big feet,” bodyguard Sonny West said in the book Elvis: What Happened? by Steve Dunleavy.

Elvis Presley did not have a normal life in any sense of the word. He rose to unprecedented levels of fame in his twenties and maintained an army of dedicated fans for the entirety of his life. While this sometimes felt uncomfortable for him — he struggled to find any amount of privacy — Elvis thought of himself as greater than most people. His bodyguard said Elvis saw himself as superhuman.
Elvis Presley tried to elevate himself above normal humans
Elvis long claimed an ability to heal with his touch. While his bodyguard, Dave Hebler, thought Elvis genuinely wanted to help people, he thought the singer also wanted to think of himself as special.
“I think he sincerely wanted to heal someone’s pain. But at the same time he was trying to elevate himself above ordinary humans,” Hebler said in the book Elvis: What Happened? by Steve Dunleavy. “He sort of had this superman complex.

After a series of career disappointments, Elvis Presley finally came across a deal that excited him. He received a high-paying offer to perform outside North America, something he had never done despite his massive success. When his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, turned down the deal, Elvis looked deeply shaken.
Elvis seemed horrified after a lucrative deal collapsed
By the mid-1970s, Elvis had suffered a series of career disappointments. The latest was that negotiations for him to appear in A Star Is Born had fallen apart. Elvis wanted the role, but Parker demanded too much money and control; Kris Kristofferson got the part instead. Though Elvis felt disappointed, a new offer buoyed his spirits.
Per the book The Colonel: The Extraordinary Story of Colonel Tom Parker and Elvis Presley by Alanna Nash, Saudi billionaires Adnan and Essam Khashoggi offered Elvis $5 million to perform at the Pyramids of Giza. Parker turned...

At several concerts in 1975, Elvis Presley embarrassed backup singer Kathy Westmoreland in front of the audience. After a particularly disastrous show during which nearly all the backup singers walked offstage, Westmoreland refused to go on altogether. Following the show, Elvis pointed a gun at her. She explained how she felt in the terrifying moment.
Elvis Presley terrified his backup singer after a concert
Elvis and Westmoreland had an on-and-off again relationship, but she eventually began dating a member of his band. As a result, he made several disparaging remarks about her onstage, telling the audience that she’d take “affection” from any band member. After several tense shows, Westmoreland refused to take the stage. Following this concert, Elvis asked to see her.
“He was sitting on his bed wearing his karate pajamas, and he had a gun,” she said, per the book Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley by Peter Guralnick.

John Lennon and Elton John forged a strong friendship in the 1970s. The two collaborated on a few songs, but their bond also formed outside the recording studio. While getting into some foul trouble, the pair had to avoid Andy Warhol, who could have exposed their activities.

After The Beatles dominated the music industry in the 1960s, Elton John emerged as one of the brightest stars of the 1970s. The “Rocket Man” singer had several hits early in his career and caught the attention of Lennon, who was now a solo artist. The two worked on a few songs together, including Lennon’s “Whatever Gets You Through the Night” and John’s cover of “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds”.

During the peak of Beatlemania, The Beatles took over the world with their popularity. In the late 1970s, Star Wars did the same, as the original trilogy captivated audiences worldwide. Beatles’ guitarist George Harrison was a major Star Wars fan, and that passion extended to his son, Dhani, who said his father was like the wise Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

In 1967, Bob Dylan and The Beatles both released albums. Dylan, along with many other people, made an appearance on the cover of The Beatles’ album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. When he released his album John Wesley Harding several months later, people wondered if Dylan had returned the favor and put The Beatles on the cover.

Dylan’s 1967 album John Wesley Harding had a snapshot of him standing in front of a tree with three men. It was a good fit for the album, which had a relatively simple production value compared to the psychedelic rock his peers were releasing at the time.
When listeners looked closely at the album cover, they began to wonder if faces hid in the tree branches. Per Rolling Stone, when the album is upside down,...

Elton John and John Lennon formed a strong friendship during the early 1970s. While Lennon was in his “Lost Weekend” era, he met with the “Tiny Dancer” to collaborate on some music together. Their studio sessions led to three songs, with two hitting No. 1 on the charts. Here are three songs Elton John and John Lennon collaborated on.

“One Day (At a Time)” was originally released by John Lennon on his 1973 album Mind Games. The track features a rare falsetto lead vocal performance by Lennon, which he says was the idea of Yoko Ono.
“Well, that’s just a concept of life, you know. How to live life,” Lennon told Playboy in 1980. “It was Yoko’s idea for me to sing it all falsetto.”
Another version was released in the 1998 John Lennon Anthology without the falsetto. It...

John Lennon might have been the first Beatle to mentally check out of the band. As he fell into a deep depression in the mid-1960s that he compared to going through murder, Paul McCartney became the de facto leader of the band. By then, the whole group had committed to not playing live, though John performed one more concert without his bandmates before leaving the group. Still, John lost a bet to Elton John and made one more proper, final concert appearance in the mid-1970s.

John all but stopped playing live when The Beatles stopped touring. Elton John single-handedly got the ex-Beatle back on stage in 1974, and it was the final time John Lennon played original songs in front of a massive concert crowd.

George Harrison became known as the “dark horse” of The Beatles after surprising many listeners with his solo career. However, this was no surprise to long-time Beatles producer George Martin who had a theory on why Harrison had an easier time transitioning into a solo career than Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
George Martin said George Harrison benefitted in his solo career from being a ‘loner’ George Harrison | Steve Morley/Redferns
George Harrison contributed plenty to The Beatles with his stellar guitar skills, but he had limited opportunities to write songs that proved his knack for songwriting. Mainly because Paul McCartney and John Lennon took on most of the songwriting duties for the band. They also didn’t collaborate with Harrison, who wrote most of his songs by himself.
In a 1971 interview with Melody Maker, Martin said he had an easier time transitioning to being solo because he learned so...

George Harrison said he didn’t need touring to boost his ego. As a seasoned professional who toured for many years during the height of Beatlemania, George was done with that part of his life. After his 1974 Dark Horse tour, his ego had been satisfied.

In The Beatles’ early days, they did a residency in Hamburg, Germany. George loved it. The group had to perform all night, and it was exhausting, but they honed their performance skills. They learned to improvise and be creative.
Then, The Beatles did touring circuits throughout the U.K. When their popularity skyrocketed in the U.S. and the world, The Beatles began touring throughout Beatlemania.

Bob Dylan is a notoriously private musician with a reputation for being a bit curmudgeonly, but he has taken the time to praise other musicians. Some are artists he has worked with extensively, some are early idols, and some may surprise Dylan fans. Here are six artists that Dylan has praised over the years.
Bob Dylan | Steve Morley/Redferns Woody Guthrie
Woody Guthrie was one of Dylan’s primary influences. He was one of the main reasons Dylan moved to New York, and his influence on Dylan’s early work is apparent. He recalled hearing Guthrie’s music and feeling that his life had changed.
“I put one on the turntable and when the needle dropped, I was stunned-didn’t know if I was stoned or straight,” Dylan wrote in his memoir Chronicles: Volume One, later adding, “All these songs together, one after another made my head spin. It made me want to gasp.

The turbulent decade of the 1980s – not much fun, eh? Thatcherism at the height of its powers. The emergence of the yuppies. Not to mention the likes of mannequin crooners like Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet dominating the charts like suited bankers. So no wonder Doctor Who wanted to go revisit the 1960s for inspiration.
