The Armed have released a new album called Perfect Saviors. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
As the self-described “World’s Greatest Band,” it’s not surprising that The Armed would have some pretty strong words to say about the environment that inspired their next album. “Too much information has made us dumb and confused,” singer Tony Wolski offered in a statement. “Too many ways to connect have inadvertently led to isolation. And too much expectation has forced everyone to become a celebrity. Predictable primal dangers have given way to newer social ones. And the result is a world that is confounding and terrifying — but ultimately still beautiful. We hope this record is exactly all of that, too. Perfect Saviors is our completely unironic, sincere effort to create the biggest, greatest rock album of the 21st century.”

A mysterious Detroit collective with a perpetually rotating lineup, the Armed are purportedly revealing their true selves on their fifth studio album, Perfect Saviors. And yet, one is left without a firm grasp of who they are. The band specializes in the art of controlled chaos, rooted in hardcore but not confined to it, and armed with a prankish, theatrical sense of humor. The 12 tracks here—which veer from pretty hooks and acoustic guitar to blast beats—linger in an in-between space that doesn’t fully embrace either noise or pop.
Throughout the album, the Armed’s music remains scuzzy, offering a rare combination of murk and bombast. “FKA World,” for one, sounds like its coated in a layer of dust, and singer Tony Wolski’s voice is de-emphasized rather than being pushed to the front of the mix. The production, courtesy of Alan Moulder, piles on the compression, which...

Iggy Pop and Julien Baker have joined the Armed to roll out their latest single “Sport of Form.” The release arrives ahead of the band’s upcoming album, Perfect Saviors, out Aug. 25.
Baker serves on vocals and Iggy plays God for the track’s accompanying video. The Armed’s Tony Wolski explained the song’s title in a statement to Rolling Stone: “There are two types of sport — those of measure and those of form. Interpol have announced the release of their seventh LP, The Other Side of Make-Believe, which arrives July 15 via Matador. The band have also dropped the video for the album’s first single, “Toni,” the first installment of a two-part film.
In the Van Alpert-directed visual, frontman Paul Banks pulls up in a classic car to a sinister scene, siren wailing: A couple hides in an industrial area from a gang of dancers wielding chains, bats, and nunchucks. As the couple tries to flee, they’re spotted and the gang gives chase.

As summer turned to fall in 2020, Interpol’s Paul Banks was laying low in Edinburgh, sitting by a window in “a comfy chair,” watching the leaves change outside. He sang quietly, trying not to disturb the neighbors as he worked on new songs he describes as “very relaxed,” “intimate,” “positive-feeling,” and “a bit more uplifting.”

On their debut Antidotes, produced by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, Foals stepped from their stalls with shifty post-punk grooves, kinetic percussion, and nervous, sulky vibes. By 2013, with Holy Fire, they smoothed and super-sized their sound with production from U2 vets Flood and Alan Moulder. Their latest LP finds Foals mostly self-producing, with help from engineer Brett Shaw (Florence and The Machine, Robyn), and swinging for what used to be the fences on a proggy, ambitious project; part two is due this fall.

Interpol are back. The New York City indie rockers have revealed the release date, cover art and tracklisting for "El Pintor," their fifth studio album and first in nearly four years. In addition, the band has posted a three-minute behind-the-scenes video of the recording sessions for the set (embedded below), the title of which is an anagram of their name that translates to "The Painter" in Spanish. "We wrote and recorded the bulk of the album in 2013 in NYC and finished mixing it in London during the early part of this year," said the band in a statement posted to their official website. "We're very excited to share the album with all of you. The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios & Atomic Sound by Mr James Brown and mixed by Mr Alan Moulder at Assault & Battery studios. We had a lot of fun making this record and can't wait for you to hear it.

As a passionate fan of Trent Reznor's music for nearly a quarter-century, I knew this review would be quite an undertaking, but now the time has come to step up and swing. My initial thrill came early this year, when Nine Inch Nails' founder announced that his legendary band would not only be returning to the stage in 2013 after a four-year hiatus (and five years away from the studio), but had already been at work on the new album Hesitation Marks, so the excitement and anticipation was understandably high. The title, which refers to the tenuous flesh wounds made by someone contemplating suicide, suggested we were about to visit another very dark corner of Reznor's psyche – an idea reinforced by the return of mixed media artist Russell Mills, who created the cover for the band's darkest, most emotionally devastating album The Downward Spiral. But then came that inevitable...

Nine Inch Nails has revealed the track listing for “Hesitation Marks,” out Sept. 3. In addition to first single, “Came Back Haunted,” the rest of the titles hint at the sense of restless discontent (to put it mildly) the group is known for, including “The Eater of Dreams,” “Disappointed,” “All Time Low,” “Various Methods of Escape,” and “Black Noise.” Nine Inch Nails head Trent Reznor produced the album with his composing partner Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder. Among the guests are Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham, bassist Pino Palladino, and guitarist Adrian Belew, who dropped out of the band, according to Rolling...

Back in February, Nine Inch Nails founder Trent Reznor revealed that his legendary band was reuniting for a tour this summer... but what he didn't tell us was that the band was already in the studio working on their next album at the time. Trent has finally confessed that the new record is not only a done deal, but it's actually slated for release this year. “I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately,” Reznor posted at the band's official site. “For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross [Trent's long-time collaborator and fellow Golden Globe-winning composer] and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great.” We've known that new Nin material was in the works – the first since the band completed their “Wave Goodbye” tour in 2009 – and that the band would hit the stage again.

Nine Inch Nails hasn't released a new studio album in over five years, but Tuesday (May 28), founder Trent Reznor revealed that there is a new album in the works, despite his reports to the contrary.
"I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately. For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly f***ing great," writes Reznor on the band's Tumblr.
"This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, Htda and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!"

Currently the “Best Band With The Worst Name” title holder, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart debuted in 2009 as a twee indie-rock act whose sound owed more than a little to Belle And Sebastian. HollywoodNews.com: Interpol formed in 1997 in New York City and the original lineup consisted of members Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler, Carlos Dengler, and Greg Drudy. The band lost Drudy in 2000, who was replaced by Sam Fogarino. It was recorded at Electric Lady Studios, New York, and mixed with Alan Moulder at Assault and Battery, London.

Details of "Twilight" soundtrack are starting to take its shape with Perry Farrell revealing his involvement in the Ost project. Weeks after Paramore announced that they have been booked to write songs for the soundtrack, the former Jane's Addiction frontman opened up to MTV that he has written a song for the vampire romance flick entitled "Go All the Way".
Though details on the song still remain vague, the track, which is described to be described as a "tumultuous" mix of dance, rock and alternative music styles, has been said to be overheard in a crucial scene of the film. About the special song, Farrell explained, "The song conjures up that adolescent feeling when a young man, who has been pursuing a girl he really likes, finally gets her. It's about the intense emotions when they go all the way."
