Live, from New York, it’s… filmmaker Jason Reitman’s new feature about the launch of “Saturday Night Live.”
Co-written by Reitman and his frequent collaborator Gil Kenan and directed by Reitman, “SNL 1975” will dramatize the events of October 11, 1975, when the venerable sketch comedy series debuted on television. According to Deadline, which has broken numerous stories about the forthcoming film, “SNL 1975” tells “the true story of what happened behind the scenes that night in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of NBC’s ‘SNL.’ It depicts the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, counting down the minutes in real-time to the [famous] words, ‘Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!’”
Reitman and Kenan based their screenplay on an “extensive series of interviews conducted by Reitman and Kenan with all the living cast members, writers, and crew.” The project will start production soon,...

It is hard to believe that creator Lorne Michaels’s legendary late night variety show Saturday Night Live has been kicking around the American airways for four decades and still remarkably standing on its hind legs even until this very day. No doubt that SNL has shaped the pop cultural minds of its avid viewers for forty-plus years on the small screen. Importantly, SNL gave birth to the careers of some of Hollywood’s major top stars in the realm of film, television and stage.
Sure, SNL is an immense institution in television. In fact, NBC-tv will acknowledge the iconic late night program when it broadcasts the 40th anniversary highlighting Saturday Night Live’s on-air staying power with many of the show’s luminaries returning and paying retrospect to the classic sketch comedy that became one of America’s most enduring and long-lasting laughfests.

"Jake Stone is a great character to play and I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into the role," said the actor, known for his role in the show "Hollyoaks".

Shortland Street (New Zealand)
This is proof that I can’t be everywhere. I had no idea that New Zealand nighttime soap Shortland Street had a gay couple on the show. I’m not sure on all the details of the storyline, but it seems that Seth came on as part of a hostile hopital takeover. There’s been lots of drama and political maneuvering because of it. Seth's business competitor Sarah knows that he’s gay, and it looks like she's about to out him.
The biggest question I have is: what year is this? I mean, it’s 2013. It’s seems so dated to have Seth staying in the closet and hiding his boyfriend to protect his career. I realize that this does still happen, but Seth is not a professional athlete, a big film star, a politician or anything high-profile like that, so...

Executive producer Lorraine Newman confirmed that the new arrivals are currently being discussed and will arrive in Albert Square later this year. "Discussions are going on and it's still very much in the early stages of development," she told the Daily Star Sunday. "It's definitely going to happen. It's a very exciting time to be a resident of Albert Square. "We've already got so much lined up over the next few months with our existing characters. Bringing in an entirely new family will only add to the drama." The last family brought into EastEnders was the Masoods (more)...

EastEnders star Nina Wadia has admitted that she wanted her character Zainab Masood to be killed off. The actress filmed her final scenes as Zainab in December after deciding to leave the BBC One soap, and her exit episode will air in early February. Speaking on This Morning today (January 14), Wadia revealed that she would have been happy for Zainab to have a tragic ending.
Pictured: Nina Wadia on This Morning. Asked whether she requested for the door to be left open, Wadia replied: "No, quite the opposite! I thought it would be nice to have a big storyline - if they got rid of her in some horrific car accident or something. "They said no. That was a really nice compliment and I can't thank [executive producer] Lorraine Newman enough for that. She's amazing. They just want to leave the door open in case I want to come back (more)...

Kat Moon will confront her demons on 'EastEnders'. EastEnders executive producer Lorraine Newman has revealed that Lauren Branning's binge-drinking plot will come to a head this spring. Newman described the teenager as "very troubled" in an interview posted on the BBC's official EastEnders blog. When asked what is in store for Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and her cousin and lover Joey (David Witts) this year, Newman said: "Lauren's obviously very troubled. A huge amount of what we're seeing now is to do with what's been going on with her parents for such a long time. "It's a tough one covering the issue of binge drinking because inevitably, in order for it to have sufficient impact, it has to go on for a considerable amount of time. River City
I’ve had my doubts about Will and Robbie’s relationship since the very beginning. They always seemed ill-suited for one another and I never felt they had much spark. And well, there are the incidents of domestic violence between the couple that put me against any future between them.
But this past week, with Will and Robbie getting married, I decided to put my doubts and previous impressions aside, at least for this episode and try and enjoy the story as presented in this particular episode. I found that it was a well-crafted piece of drama, well done in both writing and acting, though I do have a few issues.
I thought it was ridiculous that rather than tell Will about Edwards’ attempts to bribe him, Robbie gets stinking drunk. Clearly this only made the situation worse. Will had no idea what...

In honor of the Halloween season, we thought we'd chat with one of the genre's most iconic characters, the one and only Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, as portrayed by the lovely Cassandra Peterson. Read on for our ten questions with one of our favorite Scream Queens.
1. How did the Elvira character come about?
Elvira: I was with The Groundlings comedy improv group for four years before Elvira came along. My fellow Groundlings at the time were Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman), the late Phil Hartman of "Saturday Night Live" fame, Lorraine Newman, John Lovitz, Julia Sweeny, etc. etc. Many, many working actors have spawned careers at The Groundlings. (If you're ever in La, check them out at their theatre on Melrose Avenue.)

Neighbours
As I said last week, I’m really enjoying Neighbours these days. The fallout from the accident has continued to make for interesting soap. Now, I don’t know anything about epilepsy or its symptoms, so I can’t say if the show is being medically accurate about Andrew’s illness, but it’s dramatically compelling to watch.
I see a lot of comments about Andrew being ‘stupid’ for not taking Aidan’s advice and telling people about his situation, but his behavior makes perfect sense to me. Andrew has always been one to avoid problems. His father is repeatedly telling him he needs to be tough and he can’t even talk to Chris and his friends because they won’t have anything to do with him following the accident. Risking his health might be stupid, but it’s realistic.
What isn’t so realistic,...

Blood Relatives
There are things I liked about this clip. I liked that Esther was put out because Woulter wanted to have the party for him and Thomas at their house instead of hers. She’s a controlling woman so it’s no surprise she would hate changes put upon her by Thomas’ latest squeeze. Her being snippy about the event was the highlight of the clip, as was the shouting match between her and Eva. But I think Thomas and Woulter’s sudden coupledom is quite rushed.
Why are they rushing this?

I’m glad Amira has finally gotten the message, given up on Syed and left town. Given that Syed cheated on her for over a year with Christian, ended their marriage to be with Christian and wanted nothing more than to be with Christian after Christian dumped him late last year, it’s pretty clear that he’s just not that into her. I just hope she doesn’t give him a hard time about finally getting a divorce and lets him see his daughter regularly without a hassle. Her character has worn out her welcome, and it’s time to move on. I will miss scenes of Christian and Amira being bitchy to each other though. That was always fun to watch.
As for Zainab finally confessing that she purposefully sent Yusef to his death, which led to Tamwar being seriously burned, it was a moment long in coming.
