Jean Seberg in Les hautes solitudes. Courtesy of The Film Desk.It is a raw experience. No title, no credits of any sort. No soundtrack—although I defy anyone to watch it in absolute silence and not “hear” something, at some point, in their head. Just a series of “moving images” (for once the currently fashionable artworld term is correct), portraits in black-and-white, mostly trained on faces, or the upper parts of several bodies. There is no make-up, only minimal lighting and staging, and no post-production effects or clean-up whatsoever. The on-screen participants include Nico, Tina Aumont, Laurent Terzieff. And, most extensively, Jean Seberg—which may come as a shock to viewers not entirely au fait with the biography of the film’s director, Philippe Garrel. “Garrel’s camera sees Seberg honestly,” wrote David Ehrenstein in his book Film: The Front Line 1984, “as if discovering her for the first time,...

London, November 26: An Australian family has set a new Guinness World Record by putting over half a million Christmas lights.
David Richards and his family installed 502,165 lights around their home and garden, as they reclaimed the record they had earlier set in 2011, the Mirror reported.
The Canberra family had lost the record to a family in New York and Richards admitted that he was determined to try again.
He said that it was sort of a reason to do it again, and they didn't break it by very much.
Richards told the Canberra Times newspaper that he thought 500,000 was a nice, round number so he decided.

Australian lawyer David Richards channeled his inner Clark Griswold (à la Christmas Vacation) by installing 502,165 Christmas lights on his suburban home, making him the coolest dad on the block. This marked the second time Richards has claimed the Guinness World Record for most lights on a residential property. The father of three first took the record back in 2011 with 331,038 bulbs, but last year, a New York family beat him by installing 346,283 lights. Along with putting up 31 miles of lighting wire this year, Richards also added glowing reindeer and Christmas music to get in the holiday spirit - some next-level stuff! Installation took around a month to complete, and the cost to keep those lights glowing is more than $2,000 a month. Luckily for Richards, though, he doesn't have to worry about the payment, since it's been donated by a local power company. The family also welcomes donations for the holiday installation,...

Investindustrial plans to 'rejuvenate' a brand most famously associated with James Bond
An Italian investment firm with a track record of reviving ailing premium brands has injected £150m into cash-strapped Aston Martin for a stake in the firm behind James Bond's favourite car.
Private equity group Investindustrial saw off competition from the Indian motor group Mahindra & Mahindra to take a 37.5% stake that values the entire Midlands-based business at €940m (£757m). Investindustrial has a reputation for reinvigorating famous marques, having tripled its return on motorbike maker Ducati – which it sold to Volkswagen's Audi for $1.1bn this year.
The Italian firm said it planned to "rejuvenate" a brand whose most famous fan is James Bond; the British spy brought his vintage model out of retirement for the latest edition in the 007 franchise, Skyfall.

Wimbledon washout
Murray mound? Henman hill? Rusedski ridge? Name it after whichever British tennis super-flop you choose, it won't stop the authorities closing it down in the rain. Much to the disappointment of middle Britain, Wimbledon's big screen had its power cut during Andy's big first game. Calls of an over-zealous attitude to public protection had the Health and Safety Executive screaming foul play: "People have been walking up and down wet, grassy slopes for years without catastrophic consequences," wrote the chair of the Hse in an open letter. "Health and safety excuses are becoming as much a feature of our sporting calendar as the rain," she added. It must have had some impact: the hill's been open ever since. Huzzah!

Senior Nato military commanders have been pressing for the unmanned Us planes to strike Gaddafi forces in besieged Misrata
The White House has approved the use of missile-armed Predator drones to help Nato target Colonel Gaddafi's forces in Libya.
Coalition commanders have been privately urging the Americans to provide the specialist unmanned aircraft, which have become a favoured – if controversial – weapon in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Their ability to hone in on targets using powerful night-vision cameras is considered to be one way of helping rebels in the besieged city of Misrata, where a humanitarian crisis has unfolded in the last week.
The Us defence secretary, Robert Gates, said Barack Obama had approved the use of the Predators which are armed with Hellfire missiles, signalling a marked growth in the Us contribution to the Nato effort.

Pineapple Dance Studios was last year’s smash hit. Lifting the lid on life at the iconic London location, the fly-on-the-wall series racked up the column inches and became the talk of telly land. No one was immune to its charms, including the critics – The Guardian said: “It’s the cleverest thing on TV by a front pike somersault and forward jazz-roll.” Plus, a star was born in the form of Louie Spence, a pint-sized diva with a wicked wit and a penchant for flashing the flesh.
This year Sky 1 has set its sights higher for this eagerly anticipated follow-up which will feature stunning Busby Berkeley style dance break-outs. Showbusiness will see Louie undertake a mission to put together a revue show in the West End. Having hired a production office and theatre space, the prima donna must now cast his entertainment extravaganza with performers who have the ability to make jaws hit the floor.
