Up until now, Netflix’s marketing campaign for House of Cards season 4 has proven to be as cool and calculated as Kevin Spacey’s machiavellian Frank Underwood, who returns in less than two weeks’ time to fight for another term in the oval office.
It’s a plight that takes center stage in today’s brooding new clip for the political drama, and yes, Frank Underwood’s 2016 campaign is in full swing. Even when it comes to something as ordinary as presenting a presidential portrait at the Smithsonian, there’s a sinister air emanating from Spacey’s power-hungry protagonist, played up in wonderful fashion with those gleeful nods to the camera.
Robin Wright’s First Lady remains absent in today’s teaser, and as if it wasn’t clear already, Netflix’s brief logline for House of Cards season 4 tees up a battle between the once-ironclad couple: “Frank and Claire continue their pursuit for power,...

After months of conjecture Netflix looks highly likely to launch in Australia and New Zealand in late March or early April.
That.s according to distributors who are negotiating film and TV content deals with the Us streaming giant.
The new season of House of Cards would be among the SVoD service.s first offerings Down Under, potentially a strong lure for subscribers.
The third series of the political drama, which stars Kevin Spacey, Law & Order.s Jenna Stern, Robin Wright and Nathan Darrow, is expected to launch in the Us in February, as did the earlier series.
Foxtel aired the first two series of the Netflix production licensed via Sony Pictures TV, but Netflix withheld the rights to the third season.
However Netflix's Australian feed will bear little similarity to the domestic service, at least for the first year or so, because Foxtel owns the SVoD rights to most of the desirable shows.

Title: The Best and the Brightest Director: Josh Shelov Starring: Neil Patrick Harris, Bonnie Somerville, Amy Sedaris, Jenna Stern, Peter Serafinowicz, Christopher McDonald, Kate Mulgrew, Bridget Regan, John Hodgman, Stephen Park, Kelly Coffield Park Most big screen comedies — even a lot of independently mounted affairs — trade in the familiar, at least on a narrative level, operating under the assumption that audiences want to see witty banter and outlandish comeuppance visited upon recognizable scenarios that are easily transposed to a viewer’s own life, whether that’s workplace misery or the fickle nature of love. It’s unusual, then, to see something like The Best and the Brightest, a movie which eschews a more...

Whatever you think of the specs, it's nice to finally be able to refer to the iPad in one word instead of qualifying Apple's new product title as "unofficial," and Twitter-Wood is using it all over the place, even if some citizens thing the device sounds like a feminine care product.
Meanwhile, one product you should definitely check out (to carry over the Don Rickles theme from yesterday) is a signed Mr. Potato Head figurine. Twitter linkmaster extraordinaire Lee Unkrich posted a link to Rickles' Toy Story character along with a few other items being auctioned off to raise money for Haiti, so give them all a look. And while you're at it look at which "Mad Men" actor lost his iPod, whether or not the Olympics will impact "Lost" and which kid star from "The School of Rock" got a picture with Adam Lambert. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this...

Roy Disney's death today was big news in Twitter-Wood, where a lot of folks have been affected by his work and commitment to animation over the course of their careers. It's certainly appropriate that "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich was among the first to post his condolences.
And speaking of animation, Danny DeVito made it onto the guest list for the "Avatar" premiere tonight, and took a picture of his excitable foot to prove it. His "Twins" co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger posted
pic, too, from over in Copenhagen where he's meeting with folks for the U.N. Climate Summit. You can click through all of those tweets after the jump where you'll also find out who may have cut actress Jenna Stern off and which musician/director is working on a new FunnyorDie.com sketch. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for December 16, 2009.

The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled 5-0 today that Al Franken won last year’s Senate election, and it didn’t take long for responses to start popping up in the Twitter-Wood feed, including reactions from Larry King and Graham Linehan. Magician and quick-witted thinker Penn Jillette also brought politics into his tweets, pointing out the relevance of his film “The Aristocrats” in a recent Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision.
The conversations weren’t all political though. Rose McGowan showed off a shot a of the new dog she adopted and Demi Moore posted her own puppy shot of Ashton Kutcher rolling around on the set of his new movie “Five Killers.” Meanwhile, “Twilight” actor Peter Facinelli was just innocently trying on a bikini and Russell Brand kept to what he does best, lacing an apology to his neglected Twitter followers with dog-and-leg-humping imagery. Dive in, because I’ve got behind-the-scenes commentary from Jon Favreau, Ashton Kutcher, and Jeremy Piven in today’s handpicked crop of Twitter-Wood tweets. Favreau offers some praise up for Mickey Rourke’s work thus far in “Iron Man 2,” and Kutcher shares his thoughts on the foreign dubbing process for his new film “Spread,” while Piven points out the common links between his new movie “The Goods” and this summer’s box office success story “The Hangover.”
I also rounded up a few thoughts from film folks about yet another entertainment industry death, comedian and impersonator, Fred Travelena, as well as Bernard Madoff’s sentencing today, and Denzel Washington’s latest post about Michael Jackson. You find all of these, a picture taken by “Buffy” actress Amber Benson at one of my local Chicago comic book shops, and much more in the Twitter-Wood update for June 29, 2009, after the click.
