Robert De Niro called former President Donald Trump “evil” in a speech delivered at The New Republic‘s Stop Trump Summit in New York City.
De Niro was scheduled to deliver the speech in person, but after testing positive for Covid-19, sent his statement to be read aloud by former Trump administration official Miles Taylor.
“I’ve spent a lot of time studying bad men. I’ve examined their characteristics, their mannerisms, the utter banality of their cruelty. Yet there’s something different about Donald Trump. When I look at him, I don’t see a bad man. Truly.”
“I see an evil one,” the statement read.
De Niro went on to say that Trump is “a wannabe tough guy with no morals or ethics. No sense of right or wrong. No regard for anyone but himself — not the people he was supposed to lead and protect, not the people he does business with,...

Donald Trump has long praised Kim Jong-un, but he spent the first part of his presidency publicly prodding and threatening the murderous North Korean dictator. The tension between the two strongmen was so concerning to top security officials, a new book alleges, that they held multiple meetings to prepare for a North Korean nuclear attack against the United States.
“You all need to prepare like we’re going to war,” former Defense Secretary James Mattis said to former Homeland Security official Miles Taylor, according to Taylor’s new book Blowback:...

Donald Trump is privately fuming over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis flying migrants from the Texas border to Martha’s Vineyard, telling confidants the potential 2024 rival stole “my idea” for weaponizing immigrants. Turns out, Trump was right — but his plans were more extreme than anything DeSantis has come up with to date.
In early 2019, three people familiar with the matter tell Rolling Stone, the then-president workshopped a plan to bus migrants suspected of violent crime from the border to liberal metropolitan areas. The plan, two of the sources say Trump explicitly told staff,...

Donald Trump posted about the need for “real solutions and real leadership” on Wednesday in response to the school mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and he’ll likely make a similar call on Friday, when he travels to Houston to address the National Rifle Association. But when there was another mass shooting at a school during his presidency, he offered no new solutions and, according to a person present, was mentally absent at a critical moment for addressing the gun violence crisis.

Update, 9:26 Pm Pt: Miles Taylor appeared on Chris Cuomo’s CNN show and explained why he lied to Anderson Cooper in August about being Anonymous, the Trump administration figure who wrote a scathing New York Times op ed and book.
“Why should CNN keep you on the payroll after lying like that?” Cuomo asked Taylor, who has been a CNN contributor since August.
“It’s a great question, and I will just give you the blunt truth,” he said. “When I said in A Warning, I said in the book that if asked, I would strenuously deny it, that I was the author. And here’s the reason, because the things I said in that book were ideas that I wanted Donald Trump to challenge on their merits. We have seen over the course of four years that Donald Trump’s preference is to find personal attacks and distractions...

During Friday’s press conference the president, staying true to form, once again lied to the media and to the American people. While boasting about his decision to finally send an additional 13 billion in aid to Puerto Rico – three years after Hurricane Maria wreaked havoc on the still-recovering US territory, Trump had the audacity to assert that he is “the best thing to ever happen to” the island.
“I have to say, in a very nice way, very respectful way. I’m the best thing that ever happened to Puerto Rico.

A former high-ranking deputy to Vice President Mike Pence is pledging to vote for Joe Biden and has broken with President Trump, saying the president “doesn’t actually care about anyone but himself.”
Olivia Troye was a lifelong Republican who served as the top-ranking Pence staffer on the administration’s Covid-19 response, but she says what she saw from Trump made supporting him impossible. “I truly believe we are at a time of constitutional crisis,” she says in a video released Thursday by a group of anti-Trump Republicans. “At this point,...

Joe Biden went on offense in advance of Donald Trump’s visit to California on Monday, as the Democratic nominee blasted the president as a “climate arsonist” who is ignoring science and how it relates to extreme wildfires out west and natural disasters elsewhere.
“If you give a climate arsonist four more years in the White House, why would anyone be surprised if we have more of America ablaze?” Biden said in remarks from Delaware. “If you give a climate denier four more years in the White House, why would anyone be surprised when more of America is underwater?”
Trump is scheduled to meet later on Monday with California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, to talk about the wildfire devastation in the state. The president has blamed the severity of the fires on bad forest management, saying that dried fallen trees act like matchsticks that worsen blazes.

Blasting Trump as “one of the most unfocused and undisciplined senior executives I’ve ever encountered,” a former top deputy in the Department of Homeland Security says he came away from his service in the administration “completely convinced, based on firsthand experience, that the president was ill-equipped, and wouldn’t become equipped, to do his job effectively.”

Miles Taylor didn’t have a speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention, but he’s certainly garnered attention for a video in which he endorsed Joe Biden and warned of Donald Trump’s behavior.
ABC News’ Good Morning America got the first interview with Taylor since he wrote a Washington Post op ed and appeared in a video for the group Republican Voters Against Trump.
Taylor, who was chief of staff to then-Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, told George Stephanopoulos that Trump wanted to hold off emergency aid to California in 2018, then going through devastating wildfires. The reason: the state’s governor, Jerry Brown, and later Gavin Newsom, “did not support him.”
“As wildfires were burning down houses in the state, the president basically said to us, ‘I don’t care. These people haven’t done enough to deserve it. Cut off the money.'”

Netflix's new comedy Teenage Bounty Hunters centers on a pair of twins, Sterling and Blair, who team up with an established bounty hunter to track down bad guys and collect the rewards. So are the actresses actually twins in real life, or is this just a case of really good casting?
Although they certainly look like they could be twins in real life, actresses Maddie Phillips and Anjelica Bette Fellini, both 25, aren't even related at all. Fellini is still very much a newcomer to the business. Her most recognizable role has been on the superhero drama The Gifted, where she played Rebecca, aka "Twist." Her only other credits are the movies Sid Is Dead and The French Dispatch.
Phillips, on the other hand, has acting roles going back to 2013. For the most part, she's had one-time guest roles on established shows, including spots on Lucifer, iZombie, and Supernatural. She's...

In a world of frustratingly vague TV show titles like Reprisal, Dark, and Run, some titles have the moral courage to stand up and declare their intentions, loud and proud. Such is the case with Netflix’s latest teenage action comedy. It’s called Teenage Bounty Hunters and you will absolutely guess what it’s all about.
Teenage Bounty Hunters stars Maddie Phillips and Anjelica Bette Fellini as fraternal twins and best friends Sterling and Blair Wesley. As the show’s title so helpfully implies, Sterling and Blair are 16-year-old bounty hunters. Netflix’s full synopsis of the show reads:
“Rebelling against their buttoned-up Southern community, sixteen-year-old fraternal twin sisters Sterling (Maddie Phillips) and Blair (Anjelica Bette Fellini) Wesley team up with veteran bounty hunter Bowser Jenkins (Kadeem Hardison) for an over-the-top adventure as they dive into the world of bail skipping baddies and suburban secrets while trying to navigate high school drama — love,...
