Bill Pullman thinks he was the last person on earth who hadn’t heard of Alex Murdaugh, the personal injury attorney who was found guilty in the double homicide of his wife, Maggie, and son Paul.
Fortunately for the veteran actor, there was gobs of video to help him prepare for his role in Murdaugh Murders: The Movie for Lifetime’s ripped-from-the-headlines slate of movies last fall.
“South Carolina allows video in courtroom. There was hours and hours of behavior, that 911 call, the body cam of the first officer arriving on the scene,” Pullman recalled Saturday at Deadline TV Contenders. “It’s really interesting about real transcripts. You realize how sociopaths have this cauterized morality. The way they are moving through a sentence. They talk one way at the beginning at the sentence and then they sense there is somewhere better to go. You would never write that as a writer.

Are you ready to delve into one of the most shocking stories of the last ten years?
Lifetime is giving the Murdaugh Murders the movie treatment.

Now, we have our first glimpse at Bill Pullman playing Alex Murdaugh.

The flick follows "the twisted true story of Alex Murdaugh, who was found guilty in the double homicide of his wife, Maggie, and his son, Paul," the logline teases.
"For over 100 years, the wealthy and powerful Murdaugh Family were a local dynasty in the South Carolina low country, where they oversaw the prosecution of all criminal cases in the state's 14th circuit district."
"But behind all the power, black ties, and fancy dresses, Alex had many secrets…...

Things get off to a pretty rocky start with Brad Turner’s Trigger Point thanks to a haphazard opening sequence comprised of silencer shots and gun flashes as random bodies fall to the ground. It feels like the cold open to a television show and thus the precursor to what will ultimately feel like a made-for-tv actioner. That we quickly move to a day in the life of Nicolas Shaw (Barry Pepper) with high-tech gadgets in a low-tech small-town setting with loquacious acquaintances at the diner and bookshop doesn’t necessarily help matters since it all feels so artificial. Things finally settle down upon discovering that’s kind of the point.
Screenwriter Michael Vickerman has created a man in hiding. Those bodies that fell at the beginning—that was a year ago. And Nicolas may have been the reason for their deaths. He doesn’t remember it, but his former...

The first night of the mini-series was provided for reviewing purposes prior to broadcast.
Normally drenched in the testosterone-fueled basic cable minutate of rescuing bars and mastering ink, Spike this week is launching its own scripted mini-series surrounding the events of Tutankhamun and his short, but brutal, reign as the Pharoah of Egypt. The series, succinctly titled Tut, is awash in the requisite amount of lavishly designed sets you can imagine are required by a show set around 1320 B.C., and it gets decent mileage out of a simple political court backstabbing plot in its first night.
Unfortunately, the show’s creators give you little reason to invest much time into Tut’s barely-a-decade rule, the course of which will spill out over the course of three nights beginning this Sunday. Tut’s rule begins when his father is poisoned by an infidel, and the young boy must begin navigating...

I never really noticed or paid attention to ReelzChannel, now just Reelz, an odd collection of off-network fare, cross-promoting what else is on cable and original programming. So, when Ring of Fire crossed my desk, I knew nothing about it. A miniseries that aired in the spring, it features a familiar cast headlined by Michael Vartan (Alias), Terry O’Quinn (Lost), and Lauren Lee Smith (The L Word). It’s a low budget disaster movie that traces how deep drilling for oil accidentally taps molten lava, triggering a chain reaction that brings the world close to an Extinction Level Event.
The small town is filled with the usual cookie-cutter assortment of characters with conflicts aplenty such as the oil rig worker who lost his son due to his brother’s carelessness and guess who’s out of jail in time to use his knowledge of the old mines? Or that...

Director: Peter Winther. Writer: Michael Vickerman. Cast: Devon Werkheiser, Nicole Forester, Caitlin Carmichael, Diana Hopper and Cassie Keller. The Wicked is a horror title set for release through Image Entertainment. This direct-to-home video film focuses on urban legends and witchcraft. Apparently, Ladeanne Larene, the witch, has been killing kids near Bogie Lake for sometime. And, several local youths are barely up to the task of stopping her. Well shot and acted, The Wicked does not add much excitement to the witch horror genre. And, there have been a few witch stories to set the pace in this genre. The Craft (1996) was a film that brought teen angst to the screen. This film had a compelling edge, with compelling performances. The Blair Witch Project (1999) was another film that stands out in this sub-genre. Directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez's film was successful for not showing much of the horror onscreen.

Every town in America has their version of The Wicked. They're the weird person, house, or other location kids whisper about amongst themselves in fear and parents use to threaten their children with. It's the old house on the hill everyone walks faster by on the way home from school or the old man or woman we're told not to talk to.
Director Peter Winther and writer Michael Vickerman put together a fun little indie film that is only hindered by shoddy CGI and a wavering sense of who it was made for. The Wicked is an extended episode of R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour until we get one or two sequences of sexuality and dialogue littered with bad language. Movies like this always leave me shaking my head in wonder. If they tone down those elements or omit them, they would have a PG-13 film that more people could enjoy.

I was really interested in checking out The Wicked, I thought it had a rather cool sounding synopsis and I do like films that deal with legends. It isn't an easy type of film to pull off and I have seen my share of lemons there. I went into this without expecting anything either way, having no notion of whether I would like it or not is how I like to go into a film.
I would say that the film is a fair effort, it took a cool concept and those involved certainly tried their best to deliver. I give them kudos, the film winds up being a fun ride and I did like the town mythos with the creature here. Believe me this could have been much worse, so while it isn't the best film out there I'd say on the horror market now,...

When it comes to witches, it's really hard to not picture the classic get-up used in The Wizard of Oz. The pointy hat ... the green skin ... it's just classic stuff, man. However, truly evil witches aren't played for camp value. In fact, they can be downright frightening.
The Wicked, directed by Peter Winther from a screenplay by Michael Vickerman, is on its way to next month's Afm, and we've got the first details here for you!
Justin Deeley, Devon Werkheiser, and Nicole Forester star.
Synopsis
"Season of the Equinox, the witch besets her kill. One less soul in the town to know, taken against their will." It is a bedtime story nearly every kid in the small town of Summerset has heard. A silly story passed down from generation to generation that offers just enough chills to keep the legend alive. This year is different. Seven-year-old Amanda Drake is swiped from her bedroom window.

Lifetime has given the green light to "Everything She Ever Wanted," a four-hour miniseries starring Gina Gershon, Ryan McPartlin and Victor Garber.
The project, based on Ann Rule's book, centers on Pat (Gershon), who, with her younger husband Tom (McPartlin) at her side, is determined to become part of Atlanta's elite.
But her greedy thirst for power proves insatiable, ruining her marriage and putting those around her in danger.
Garber will play Tom's stern and overbearing father, who strongly disapproves of his son's choice for a wife.
Peter Svatek is set to direct from a script by Michael Vickerman ("Impact"). Nicholas Tabarrok is producing the mini, slated to begin production soon in Toronto.
McPartlin, who co-stars on NBC's "Chuck," is repped by Icm and Evolution.
Gershon recently appeared on episodes of ABC's "Life on Mars" and CBS' "Numbers." Garber co-starred on ABC's "Eli Stone." She is repped by Apa and Affirmative.
