Canada-based production and distribution firm Amcomri Entertainment, owner of UK sales outfit 101 Films International, has established a €10m feature film investment fund in association with Ireland’s Richard Harris International Film Festival (Rhiff).

Under the terms of the deal, Amcomri will become M & M’s official financing partner, co-financing a slate of movies with the U.K.-based production house.
Amcomri’s sales arm, 101 Films International, will distribute the films.

The story of an up-and-comer in New York determined not to let his deformed head derail his ambitions captured the Overall Best of Fest Award and Nytvf Critics Award. The Best Comedy Project award went to Smüchr; Best Animated Project was Omega House (which also scored a development deal from Comedy Central); and Best Drama or Dramedy Project was Paint.
After the fest’s shift from its traditional fall arrival, a move aimed at synchronizing with the industry’s development cycle, organizers said the summer fest hosted 620 development meetings, the most in its history. In all, 75 companies took part in the festival, a cross-section of networks, studios, agencies and digital platforms. The festival screened 59 pilots, recognizing top projects in 16 categories.

Press Release: Berlin and Los Angeles – February 15, 2018 – Shout! Studios, the multi-platform filmed entertainment distribution and production arm of Shout! Factory, has acquired U.S. rights to writers/directors Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska’s new feature remake of David Cronenberg’s early horror classic Rabid. This multi-year agreement provides Shout! Studios with digital, on-demand, broadcast, home entertainment, and select Svod rights to the Rabid feature remake for cross-platform releases in the U.S. Back 40 Pictures will handle the theatrical distribution duties. After years of chatter and rumor, the Soska sisters — filmmakers Jen and Sylvia Soska, known as the “Twisted Twins” in horror cirlces — are finally on deck to make their long-gestasting remake of David Cronenberg’s 1977 body horror classic “Rabid.” The remake was first announced back in 2016, but the film is now finally a go, bolstered by Shout! Studios, which has picked up all U.S. rights to the film.
Just announced at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, “this multi-year agreement provides Shout! Studios with digital, on-demand, broadcast, home entertainment, and select Svod rights to the ‘Rabid’ feature remake for cross-platform releases in the U.S.” Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment handled sales for the project, including UK rights, which have gone to 101 Films.
