"He's filming his kills." Gravitas has released an official trailer for GetAWAY, a meta-slasher horror film from filmmaker Blayne Weaver. This first premiered at the deadCENTER Film Festival earlier this year, and arrives on VOD later this month for those interested in watching. Emma Norville stars as young actress Maddie, who lands a small role in the student slasher-flick shooting at a camp on the weekend, unaware it could be her last. A killer's on the loose shooting the grisly murders for his own twisted film. Maddie's the star and the slaughter is Real! Everyone run! Getaway is described as "a terrifyingly twisting meta-slasher film within a film within a film, that'll keep you guessing until the shocking, horrific conclusion." The film also stars Danielle Carrozza, Kyle Mangold, Franchesca Contreras, Joshua Cody, and Jon Rust. This doesn't look that good, but I always do enjoy meta horror mash ups like this.

Adams, Jaime Pressly, John Michael Higgins, Dave Foley, Vanessa Branch As it gets out of the starting gate, “6 Month Rule,” from writer-director-star Blayne Weaver, seems like it’s going to be an Eric Schaeffer-type cinematic exercise, infused with a pinch of ”Swingers.” After all, multi-hyphenate Weaver contrives situations for him to make out with multiple women, postulates a strict theory about dating and relationships, and puts himself at the center of a universe in which others’ feelings, need and wants are all secondary piffle, collateral damage to be shrugged off. Rules are made to be broken. At least, so learns Blayne Weaver‘s Tyler in the multi-hyphenate’s latest production, 6 Month Rule. Weaver stars in the new film (which he also wrote and directed) about an unattached heartbreaker who lives by a complex set of rules when it comes to his dating life – the purpose of all them is to keep Tyler unattached (and thus, un-hurt). The rules work for Tyler, but they’re about to be bent (or even broken) when he meets Natalie Morales‘s stunning Sophie, a free spirit that doesn’t give a damn about those rules. If you think you’ve heard this story before, you probably haven’t, as Weaver continues to exhibit a real knack for crafting characters that are believable and well-rounded (even if the audience wants to shake them into some sense) and swirling them up in situations that cleverly subvert rom-com tropes. The...

Romantic comedies are a dime a dozen these days, whether they're Hollywood films trying to eke laughs out of cruel jokes and raunchy humor, or indies with the ever-popular Manic Pixie Dream Girl and an overly earnest soundtrack. 6 Month Rule, which I saw at Hill Country Film Festival, looked like it might fall into the latter category ... but some very real emotional scenes and a refreshing lack of artificiality made it a standout movie.
Tyler (Blayne Weaver) has a lot of rules about his frequent and brief relationships with women -- when to call (or not), what to say, how to "fade" out of a relationship, and how long it takes before recuperation from a painful relationship is complete (the title rule). A montage of breakups with women in the same bar, using the same lines, says it all. When his best friend Alan (Martin Starr) loses his fiancee to another man,...

How many dance movies are there going to be before its target audience yawns itself into a coma? Honey 2 is the sequel (of sorts, although it has very little to do with its predecessor) to 2003’s Jessica Alba Dance ‘em up Honey.
It stars Katerina Graham as Maria, a dancer recently released from juvie who’s assigned a job as a caretaker for the Honey Daniels training school and taken under the wing of Honey’s mother (Lonette McKee – the only tenuous link to the first movie). Despite trying to stay on the straight and narrow, she’s constantly tempted by her sleazy ex-boyfriend Luis, who was responsible for her incarceration in the first place. We're always grateful when filmmakers take a moment out of their schedule to share their stories with Tmp. This week at the Austin Film Festival we were able to sit down with Writer/Director/Actor Blayne Weaver and a few cast members from his new film '6 Month Rule'.
Congratulations on the world premiere of your new film 6 Month Rule. Could you tell us a little bit about it?
Blayne - It’s about a guy who’s kind of a womanizer and he comes up with these rules on how to avoid emotional commitment which he actually feels is the biggest mistake you can make. His best friend gets dumped by his fiancée so my character kind of takes him under his wing trying to lead him down this path of cynicism and avoiding any kind of emotional attachment.
What is the backstory of the film? As in, what inspired the story?...

Director: Blayne Weaver Writer: Blayne Weaver Starring: Blayne Weaver, Martin Starr, Natalie Morales, Patrick J. Adams, Vanessa Branch, John Michael Higgins, Dave Foley The titular six month rule is one of many rules created and adhered to by Tyler (Blayne Weaver). It essentially states that after six months, anyone can recover from any relationship. Of course Tyler is a womanizing, commitment-phobic jerk who is unable (and unwilling) to maintain a relationship with any woman for more than six months. Heck, who needs a commitment when you have a sexy blond model, Wendy (Vanessa Branch), who waits around her apartment in lingerie hoping you will stop by for a "no strings attached" quickie? So, yes, of course Tyler would think relationships are not essential and easy to recover from! But then fate rears its hand and determines that Tyler will meet Sophie (Natalie Morales) -- who instead of being his "usual...

Rules are made to be broken – especially stupid, self-imposed rules that apply giant blanket statements to something as unique and weird and changeable as love itself. In Blayne Weaver’s 6 Month Rule, writer and director Weaver also stars as Tyler, dude about town, rakish ladies’ man, (somewhat) drunk photographer, and a steadfast believer in a set of rules that he thinks keep their followers from romantic heartbreak. The most important of those rules? There’s no woman so perfect that you can’t get over her in six months. That’s a snappy rule, right? Great way to gird yourself from emotional upheaval? Of course. Tyler really thinks he’s got it all figured out. Until he doesn’t. In the film, Tyler inevitably falls in love (with the very charming Natalie Morales), but their “spooky synchronicity” is made complicated by her douchebag musician boyfriend (Patrick J. Adams) and the albatross that is his heartbroken best friend...

Honey 2 **
Stars: Katerina Graham, Randy Wayne, Seychelle Gabriel, Christopher “War Martinez, Melissa Moinaro | Written by Blayne Weaver, Alyson Fouse | Directed by Billie Woodruff
He wants her to rejoin his dance crew, current kings of the neighbourhood,...

A couple of clicks away on the web are scores of films made by fans – by turns hilarious, ingenious and ambitious. Lurking among their makers might be Hollywood's next generation.
Many still regard them as flatulent waste products of the socially deficient unemployed-layabout community. In most cases, they're pretty much right. But it looks increasingly likely that some of the amateur fan films that pervade YouTube and other online broadcasters will one day be cherished by movie-lovers as the formative works of the next generation of cutting-edge film-makers.
The idea of the fan film – an amateur, not-for-profit work inspired by a commercial movie, TV show or comic book – isn't new. Even before science fiction conventions in the 1970s began to provide sizeable audiences for homemade homages to much-loved sci-fi/fantasy franchises, teenage movie geeks such as Hugh Hefner and Batman fan Andy Warhol were finding their film-making feet making short...

"I Sell the Dead," Glenn McQuaid's darkly comic horror tale about bumbling grave robbers starring Dominic Monaghan and Ron Perlman, will serve as the opening-night film of the 15th annual Slamdance Film Festival, which runs Jan. 15-23 in Park City.
The fest will screen 29 narrative and documentary features, 20 of which come from the U.S. and 31% of which were directed by women. The 100-film lineup also includes shorts and, for the first time, music videos.
"This year we look forward to increasing our audience through new online formats we believe have the ability, in the long run, to level the playing field for the independent filmmaker," Slamdance president and co-founder Peter Baxter said.
Bringing the fest to a worldwide audience for the first time, the films also will stream live at a new Web site, indieroad.net/slamdance, part of Slamdance's newly formed online venture with Indieroad.net.
