Cyrus Yavneh, an Emmy-nominated producer who worked on such drama series as 24 and Supernatural and on films including Town & Country and It's Pat: The Movie, has died. He was 76.
Yavneh died Thursday of lung cancer at Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, his cousin, screenwriter Robbie Fox, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Only two months ago, Yavneh was in Atlanta producing the new Netflix series Insatiable when he became ill, Fox said. He also did the pilot for the recent CBS reboot of MacGyver.

Producer Cyrus Yavneh has teamed with Dominant Entertainment to adapt The Samsara Chronicles as a TV series. The futuristic, two-book anthology paranormal fantasy series is written by Diana Kemp and Gabriella Bradley. The Amazon.com, description of The Samsara Chronicles: Book 1 reads, "Guided by mystical beings, a human mother bears a daughter of alien royalty, Aislinn, destined to champion the future of two worlds." "24 and "Supernatural" producer Cyrus Yavneh is teaming with Toronto-based Dominant Entertainment to turn "The Samsara Chronicles" novels into a sci-fi TV series.
Yavneh will executive produce and co-showrun the TV adaptation of the book series by authors Diana Kemp and Gabriella Bradley.
Kemp has adapted the first book in the series to portray two people, bound by destiny and romance, who find themselves catapulted into an apocalypse to decide the fate of three worlds.

Toronto – Steven Spielberg's untitled alien-invasion drama pilot has landed in Canada for a two-week shoot.
The Dreamworks Television project for TNT about a group battling an occupying alien force is shooting in and around Hamilton, Ontario.
The Noah Wyle-starring pilot is executive produced by Spielberg, who last week was on location at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, along with Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and writer Bob Rodat.
Carl Franklin is directing the pilot, with Cyrus Yavneh producing.
