A teenage boy's penchant for finding some form of trouble is worth studying.
In Lifetime's newest original film, Friday Night Sext Scandal, we have a storyline inspired by real events.
It intends to explore the dark underbelly of the high school experience regarding teenage boys who go on the hunt for sexually explicit photos from their female counterparts.
And in true Lifetime fashion, they explore the scandalous nature behind this from a different perspective.
The film focuses on one teen boy's experience of getting reeled into these deplorable actions.
The film stars Riverdale's Anthony Timpano as Shawn, a 16-year-old jock who is just starting to see advancement in his football career when he's upgraded to a starter on the team.
Of course, with advancement in the athletic realm comes increased popularity and the opportunity to hang out with upperclassmen, too.
And we all know very little good comes from associating with upper-class jocks.

Andie MacDowell (Maid) is returning to the Hallmark Channel to star in The Way Home, the network’s new, original primetime series that was greenlit last month and announced exclusively on Deadline. It was the first series to get a pickup at Hallmark since 2016.
MacDowell will play Del, matriarch of the Landry family and a pillar of the close-knit community of her small, Canadian farm town. She and her daughter Kat have been estranged from each other following tragic events that left their family forever changed and prompted Kat to move away. When Kat unexpectedly returns many years later with her teenage daughter whom Del has never met, the three generations of women embark on an enlightening journey to find their way back to each other and learn important lessons about their family’s past.

Exclusive: Hallmark Channel has greenlit The Way Home, the first primetime series to be ordered under the leadership of Executive VP of Programming Lisa Hamilton Daly of Crown Media Family Networks.
The Way Home is a family drama that follows the lives of three generations of women within the Landry family — and it comes with a time travel twist. Here’s the official logline for the series that’s set to begin production this summer in Ontario, Canada: “Kat Landry, her 15-year-old daughter Alice and Kat’s estranged mother Del are all strong, willful and independent. More than 20 years prior, lifechanging events created a chasm in their family that time has yet to repair. Kat and Del still aren’t on speaking terms. Alice has never met her grandmother and is unaware of the reasons for their fractured family. When the three generations come together under one roof for the...

What’s a romantic holiday TV movie without a big kiss, whether it’s under the mistletoe, in the snow or by the fire? Not as merry, that’s for sure. That’s why Lifetime began to troubleshoot the actors-kissing-during-a-pandemic conundrum it was facing while shooting its annual slate of small-screen Christmas films, which total 30 projects this year.
“Everybody was incredibly concerned about, as we were figuring it out, making sure that we were following the best possible guidelines to keep people safe,” Amy Winter, head of programming at Lifetime, told TheWrap. “We all sat down, even before we got started, saying, how is anybody even going to kiss in these movies, given the circumstances? And the greatest, oddest solution I’ve seen so far is people kissing through plexiglass that can be removed in post, which is absolutely phenomenal.”
That solution Winter told TheWrap about was used in “Christmas Ever After,...

Lifetime Sets Expanded Holiday Slate, Including Network's First LGBTQ-Led Movie The Christmas Set-Up
Lifetime is making plans for its biggest Holiday slate to date.
Reaching over 80.1 million total viewers during last year's It's a Wonderful Lifetime programming block, the cabler emerged as the #1 holiday movie destination.
For 2020, the star studded It's a Wonderful Lifetime slate will feature 30 new movies, and over 1200 hours of holiday programming - 24/7 - from mid-October through December with many new and returning stars.
Hooray, right?
This year Lifetime dives deeper in the commitment for diverse storytelling with its storylines, talent and characters.
Following last year's Twinkle All the Way which featured an on screen, same sex kiss between couple Lex and Danny (Brian Sills and Mark Ghanimé), Lifetime has greenlighted The Christmas Set Up, the networks' first movie with a LGBTQ romance as the lead story.

Toronto -- Canadian cartoon producers who watched this week as Cookie Jar Entertainment picked up Dic and American Greetings' "Strawberry Shortcake" and "Care Bears" properties are seeing their own opportunities to challenge Pixar, Warner Bros., DreamWorks and other Hollywood giants.
"We've had to hone our creative skills and business skills to rise as a country that's only 10% of the size of the dinosaur next door to compete against the big entertainment conglomerates to the south," said Kevin Gillis, managing partner of Breakthrough Animation.
Scott Dyer, chief technology officer at Corus Entertainment, which operates rival cartoon factory Nelvana, said that firm backing at home has enabled Canadian producers to partner with the world on animated co-productions and co-ventures.
"We have the technology, we have a very aware government that has provided great support in terms of tax credits and a broadcaster system that gives licenses to kids animated shows because of a broadcaster obligation to create homegrown shows," Dyer said.
The result is a Canadian animation industry that is aiming to continue its penetration of the international market.
"Every project that we develop, we're always thinking about it from a global perspective, and how it will sell worldwide and how we will get higher license fees," said Arnie Zipursky, co-chairman and CEO of Cci Entertainment.

TORONTO -- Canadian cartoon producer CCI Entertainment and Dubai-based Blink Studios on Wednesday said they have formed a strategic alliance to develop, produce and distribute a range of animation properties.
Toronto-based CCI said it will partner first with the Dubai studio to produce the CGI series "Tooterville", which takes kids into an imaginary village where colorful creatures communicate by making horn sounds.
The preschool series will be shopped at MIP JR.
"Both companies are bringing a lot of strength and talent to the table and we believe this will be the first of many development, production and distribution deals," CCI Entertainment's CEO Arnie Zipursky said in a statement.
Joint projects by CCI and Blink Studios will not be official co-productions as Canada and Dubai have no official co-production treaty for animation.
But Blink Studio's head of business development, Tarek Mounir, said the joint venture is aimed in part to pave the way for a future treaty between Canada and Dubai.

TORONTO -- Canadian family programming producer CCI Entertainment on Tuesday unveiled plans to open a Los Angeles office to spearhead an international expansion in brand licensing.
"It's now our corporate agenda to acquire more licensing properties," whether in the U.S., Europe or Asia, CCI co-chairman and CEO Arnie Zipursky said.
He added that the stateside expansion follows a successful merchandising and licensing program for "Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs," which airs on the Cartoon Network.
CCI also has acquired the worldwide licensing and distribution rights to the U.K.-based property "Frankenstein's Cat" and recently partnered with Scholastic Prods. on the "Racer Dogs" kids property.
The Toronto-based producer also recently hired Jennifer Bennett, former vp of merchandising and licensing at Alliance Atlantis Communications, to join its brand licensing team.
Monica Veiga will relocate to Los Angeles as director of sales for Latin America and Asia. In addition to lining up new licensing business, Veiga will acquire film properties for CCI's distribution library.
Rival Canadian kids programming producers including Cookie Jar Entertainment, Nelvana and Mainframe Entertainment already have a Los Angeles base from which to partner on international projects.
