Paul Walter Hauser will lead the cast of Press Your Luck, a pic based on a true story of an unemployed ice-cream truck driver who won big on a 1980s game show.
Set in 1984, the film follows Ohio resident Michael Larson, who steps on to the set of game show ‘Press Your Luck’ harboring a secret: the key to endless amounts of money. But his winning streak gets threatened when the executives in the control room start to uncover his real motivations. You can see a first look image above.
Joining Hauser in an ensemble cast are Walton Goggins, David Strathairn, Emmy-nominated Maisie Williams, Haley Bennett, Shamier Anderson, David Rysdahl, Johnny Knoxville, Brian Geraghty, Patti Harrison and Shaunette Renée Wilson.
Samir Oliveros directs from a screenplay co-written with Maggie Briggs (Joyland). His company, Plenty Good (Chronicles Of A Wandering Saint) is the producer, and co-producer is Fabula (El Conde). The film is in post-production, with Protagonist Pictures handling international sales and CAA Media Finance representing North American rights.
“Samir has crafted a unique and stylish telling of the incredible true story of a down on his luck everyman gaming the system,” said Protagonist Pictures’ CEO, Dave Bishop. “We couldn’t be happier to be working with the very talented Samir and our friends at Fabula and Plenty Good.”
Press Your Luck is produced by Amanda Freedman, and executive produced by Andrew Hevia, Juan de Dios Larraín, Pablo Larraín, Hauser, Juan Pablo Solano, Simon Beltran, Sara McFarlane, Damiano Tucci, Tiziano Tucci, Sophia Banks, Arun Thapar, Divya Shahani and Roger Lolly. Constanza Muñoz is co-producer.

After missing the chance to accept his first Oscar in person, following his win for Best Live-Action Short for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Wes Anderson has addressed the circumstances surrounding his absence and what he would’ve said in his speech.
“If I could have been there, I (along with [producer] Steven Rales) would have said ‘Thank You’ to: the family of Roald Dahl; the team at Netflix; Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Ralph [Fiennes] and Ben Kingsley and Dev [Patel] … and more [of the cast and crew],” Anderson stated. “And also: If I had not met Owen Wilson in a corridor at the University of Texas between classes when I was 18 years old, I would certainly not be receiving this award tonight — but unfortunately Steven and I are in Germany and we start shooting our new movie early tomorrow morning, so I did not actually receive the award [in person] or get a chance to say any of that.”

It was during her time at Fulcrum Media Finance that Sara McFarlane started to think about how to bridge the gap between creative and legal for producers.
McFarlane (nee Gajic) has since relocated to The States, where after a stint working for CinePointe Advisors on projects like Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, On The Rocks and I’m Thinking of Ending Things, she has established her own business, E/S Collab.
An executive producing and business affairs company, it aims to assist from development through to delivery, on issues such as underlying rights and chain of title, finance plans, closing financing deals, production business affairs work, closing talent agreements, and distribution and sales deals.
This includes leveraging relationships with law firms, insurance brokers, production accountants, clearance companies and publicity firms that can be brought on board, based on a production’s needs.
