Poor Howie Mandel must be in a state of mourning following the comedy bloodbath on Monday’s episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” Only two stand-up comedians were still in the competition as of the semi-finals: “Agt” Season 14 finalist Ryan Niemiller and Season 9 “Australia’s Got Talent” semi-finalist JJ Pantano. Both were axed by the controversial superfans. As the panel’s requisite comedian, Mandel is often seen fighting for funny men and women, but he had no control over these delegates from all 50 states who hold all the power on “The Champions.”

Besides Ryan and JJ, a third stand-up comedian was asked back to compete on “The Champions”: Dan Naturman from “Agt” Season 9. He was eliminated in the first round after being X’ed by Simon Cowell, who Dan accused of not understanding anything about comedy.

Among the 40 returning acts on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” Season 2 are eight special novelty acts that don’t fit any specific genre. There are stand-up comedians like Dan Naturman, JJ Pantano and Ryan Niemiller, dog acts like Christian & Percy and Alexa Lauenburger, quirky singers like Puddles Pity Party and Hans, and a jittery crossbow performer, Ben Blaque. In our photo gallery below, we rank these eight silly variety acts from worst to best. Does our #1 pick surprise you, “Agt” fans?
As viewers of “America’s Got Talent,” we know that it doesn’t take achieving the extraordinary to become a “champion.” The best of the best on “Agt” come from all walks of life and many shades of talent. Among those shades are the performers we consider silly. “Silly” in the sense that they excite our senses in a different way than the perfectly pitched singers or impeccably choreographed dancers do.

During the season premiere of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” six acts said goodbye after failing to make it through to the next round: pop singer Jack Vidgen, dance crew Junior Creative, dancers Paddy & Nicko, comedian Dan Naturman, subway singer Mike Yung and strongman singer Eddie Williams. Of these unfortunate eliminees, a leading 41% of “Agt” viewers believe Jack was the act that was “robbed” the most. This winner of “Australia’s Got Talent” 2011 was hoping to make a big comeback in the singing world after taking a break over the past few years, but alas, he was cut in the first round of “Champions” Season 2.
Close behind Jack at 37% was Junior Creative, the shadow dance team who won “Myanmar’s Got Talent” 2018. The only other act to crack double digits in our poll results was Paddy (age 85) and Nicko (age 45) at 10%, the dance duo who previously made it to the semifinals...

Simon Cowell sure was cranky during the Season 2 premiere of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” After all, he gave a red “X” to no less than three acts: entertainer Hans, stand-up comedian Dan Naturman and strongman singer singer Eddie Williams. However, Hans’ snarky comment following Simon’s buzzer actually caused the British judge to crack a smile: “You know what, Simon? When you let me back, I’ll come and sing, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’!” That was of course a reference to Susan Boyle, the former “Britain’s Got Talent” superstar who popped up in last year’s “Agt: The Champions” and sang her classic song for American audiences.

If you just finished watching the Season 2 premiere of America’s Got Talent: The Champions, you likely have a few choice words for the judges, none of which would make it past NBC’s Ricky Gervais-ready censors.
Monday’s two-hour premiere brought 10 of this season’s 40 returning acts to the stage, where the judges — Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel, along with returning judge Heidi Klum and new addition Alesha Dixon — were given the unenviable task of deciding which four acts would proceed to the semifinals.

After eight seasons, it’s no longer a question whether America’s Got Talent. (American Idol, and The Voice, and The X-Factor also kind of answered that already.) But what makes NBC’s summer staple so special is that singing’s only one among many talents that can be displayed. Though host Nick Cannon arguably gave the night’s best performance by pretending to be a contestant named Larry the Mime who went off on the judges and audience (“Boo yourself!”), there were many great acts actually eligible for the million dollar prize. And sure, a few of them were...

Troubled comedian Artie Lange made his return to stand-up comedy at the weekend (24-25Sep10), performing for the first time since his alleged suicide attempt in January.
Howard Stern's sidekick was hospitalised in New Jersey after reportedly stabbing himself nine times with a kitchen knife in a desperate bid to end his life.
But Lange appeared to have put his past problems behind him when he made a surprise appearance at New York City club the Comedy Cellar. The funnyman performed two shows, on Friday and Saturday night, and received a warm welcome from the crowd at both, telling the audience, "Oh, you guys are going to bring a tear to my eye."
Fellow comic Dan Naturman, who was at the event, tells New York Post gossip column Page Six that Lange made light of his recent troubles and mentioned he had been receiving treatment over the last few months.
He says, "(Lange) mentioned the fact that he had been in a psych ward for the past eight months and that he was playing Scrabble with one of the other patients. But the guy was so scary that whatever word he spelled, Artie would say: 'Ok... let's count it up.'"...
