Jeannette Charles, the Queen Elizabeth II look-alike who played the British monarch for laughs in National Lampoon’s European Vacation, in the first Naked Gun movie and in the last Austin Powers film, has died. She was 96.
Charles died Sunday at a hospice facility in Great Baddow, Essex, England, her daughter, Carol Christophi, announced. “Mum was a real character and a force of nature. She had an amazing life,” she said. “She was always respectful of the queen and adored the royal family.”
Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022, also at age 96.
Charles spent more than four decades doubling for the head of state before she wound down her career in 2014.
“I think the first time I was recognized [as the queen] was on a trip [in 1971] to Capri in Italy, with my Italian pen friend Florence,” she recalled in a 2012 interview. “Someone shouted ‘Princess Elizabeth’ in Italian, my friend explained her majesty had...

Actress Katrina Bowden recalled her most-embarrassing moment on 30 Rock in her new uInterview.
The 2006-2013 half-hour comedy 30 Rock, inspired by the behind-the-scenes antics at Saturday Night Live, revolves around Liz Lemon, the head writer for a live sketch comedy series in New York City.
One of her favorite memories from her time on the show was also her most embarrassing. “I remember in one of the earlier seasons,” she told uinterview founder Erik Meers, “there was a scene where they were filming in Kenneth’s apartment for the first time. Jack McBrayer took me around the set because he had to bring some personal family photos. They had to decorate it and everything, and he wanted us to see. I was so much younger than everybody on that cast; I think I was 18 at the time, or maybe 19, and I knew he had had these family pictures that...

First up, this is not non-fiction; there’s a disclaimer on the copyright page: “This book is a work of fiction inspired by actual events.” It does use the real names of all of the people involved, was written or co-written by the main character, and roughly follows the real history as far as I can determine from news stories and the description of David Good’s 2015 prose memoir The Way Around .
But there’s something constructed at the core of the graphic novel Good.: From the Amazon Jungle to Suburbia and Back that led to that disclaimer. I don’t know all of the details. But it’s clear that this is not, at its core, true. And that’s a puzzling thing for a book positioned as a memoir.
David Good is the eldest of three children of American anthropologist Kenneth Good and the Yanomani woman Yarima.

Slasher: Ripper follows a mysterious serial killer in 19th-century Toronto amidst other violent acts committed by the people of the city. But “Widow,” as the killer is dubbed by Enid Jenkins, the town’s journalist, isn’t killing random people; everything relates to a particular event that took place 12 years ago. Young Detective Kenneth is right on target in his search for the Widow, but his boss isn’t keen on finding out who is after his city because he may have been involved in the crime that went down 12 years ago. Slasher is definitely for pure indulgence, as every episode ends or begins with a grisly death that the viewer looks forward to; sometimes, it almost feels like an overacted play.
