It’s time for Days of Our Lives to make like the Phoenix and rise from the ashes.
Earlier this month, NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt told fans of the 52-year-old soap that Megyn Kelly’s imminent addition to the network’s daytime landscape didn’t mean that Salem was about to be wiped off the map. While it awaits word on its fate, Days of Our Lives is making some major changes.
As rumors swirl — and get slightly quelled — that NBC might scrub the long-running soap, it has been announced that series vet Dena Higley will step down as co-head writer.
Seizing the show’s reins as head writer will be Ron Carlivati, whose credits include extended runs at ABC’s One Life to Live (where in 2008 his writing team won the Daytime Emmy) and, from January 2012 to July 2015, General Hospital.
Days‘ other co-head writer, Ryan Quan, will remain with the sudser under the title of creative consultant.

According to the folks over daytimeconfidential and their sources, it turns out that the "Days Of Our Lives" folks have decided to hang on to Brandon Beemer (left), who plays character ,Shawn Douglas Brady, just a little bit longer for one main reason. This is generally the reason for most of these type of decisions, money baby! Straight up money! Ok ,so it turns out the co-head writer, Dena Higley, just wasn't aware that when she tried to fire Brandon way back in March 2016, that he had just started working his contract with the show, meaning that if they fired him, now, they would have to pay his ass out for ,at least, 26 weeks whether he came to work or not.
