The time travel slasher comedy Totally Killer is scheduled to begin streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video on October 6th, but today, one week out from the release, the marketing department has unveiled a clip from the film that I would have deemed too much of a Spoiler to show off. But showing it off they are, so I have embedded it above. This scene shows the masked murderer know as the Sweet 16 Killer crossing paths with Liana Liberato from Scream VI, but if you don’t want to know how that encounter turns out, avert your eyes.
Nahnatchka Khan (Always Be My Maybe) directed Totally Killer from a screenplay by Hocus Pocus 2 writer Jen D’Angelo, based on an original script by David Matalon (The Clearing) and Sasha Perl-Raver (Let’s Get Merried). The story follows Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) whose mom, Pam, is terrorized by the resurgence of the Sweet Sixteen...

Prime Video has announced that they will begin streaming their latest Blumhouse collaboration, the time travel slasher comedy Totally Killer, on October 6th – and while there isn’t a trailer available for the film just yet, they have unveiled a batch of first look images, and you can check those out at the bottom of this article!
The story follows Jamie (Shipka) whose mom, Pam, is terrorized by the resurgence of the Sweet Sixteen Killer — a masked maniac that slaughtered a group of teenage girls in the ‘80s. With the help of her friend Amelia, Jamie travels back in time to 1987 and teams up with the teen version of her mom (Holt) to try and stop the killer.

[This story contains spoilers to the finale of Based on a True Story and Scream VI.]
With a breakout role in Scream VI, a surprising character twist in Peacock’s Based on a True Story and a turn in the upcoming Blumhouse film Totally Killer, Liana Liberato is killing it in horror and dark comedy.
Based on a True Story centers on a married couple Nathan (Chris Messina) and Ava (Kaley Cuoco) who are at a crossroads in their marriage and struggling professionally while expecting a baby. They luckily, if you can call it that, stumble upon the realization that their plumber (Tom Bateman) is an infamous L.A. serial killer known as the Westside Ripper. Instead of turning him in, they blackmail him into making a true-crime podcast about his work, so to speak. In the bloody horror-comedy-thriller, Liberato plays Tory, Ava’s younger sister who lives with the couple when she’s not away at college.

This article contains massive Scream VI Spoilers.
It’s a funny thing when you stop to think about it. Despite nearly all the Scream movies featuring two killers, we never saw multiple Ghostfaces appear in costume at the same time during the last five movies. The idea was teased a bit in Scream 4, but by and large, every Scream film before 2023 wanted to keep the illusion that there might only be one Ghostface killer in the film… at least until it came time for third act monologues where everyone was in their civilian clothes.
In retrospect, it’s kind of a bizarre curiosity in this franchise. One which the filmmakers behind Scream VI intended to change while crafting a climax for the latest installment. Finally, we’d see our heroes chased by two Ghostfaces—Ghostfaces who in turn would serve a third mastermind and semi-cult leader. It’s that initiating idea,...

Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), left, and Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”) star in Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group’s “Scream VI.”
In my reviews last week I mentioned a new installment coming soon from a big horror film franchise. Well, the time is now. It might just seem that we were in this scary “cinematic universe’ and you wouldn’t be too off the mark, since the last one filled the multiplexes a mere fourteen months ago. The timing’s also a bit quirky since this March has no Friday the 13th and we’re several months away from Halloween (also weird since that major holiday figures into both the setting and overall plot here). Oh, and unlike that last year’s entry, which reused the original’s tile, we’re back to the “digits” with the “slicin’ and dicin'” of Scream VI.
As with the other flicks, it all...

The upcoming comedic thriller series “Based on a True Story” at Peacock has added three new cast members, Variety has learned exclusively.
Tom Bateman, Liana Liberato, and Priscilla Quintana (“Good Trouble”) have joined the show as series regulars. They will star alongside previously announced cast members Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina.
Per the official logline, the series “is about a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder and the slow close toilet seat.” It was previously announced that Cuoco will play a married woman named Ava Bartlett, while Messina will play a character named Nathan. All other character details are under wraps.
Bateman is repped by CAA, United Agents in the U.K. and attorney Patti Felker. Liberato is repped by Entertainment 360 and Innovative Artists. Quintana is repped by Sdb Partners, Link Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson.

Plot: A homicidal couple holds a home salvager and his deaf teenage daughter hostage, forcing them to dig up something they buried beneath a patio.
Review: Thomas Jane once played the Marvel Comics character The Punisher, but in the opening scenes of director K. Asher Levin’s thriller Dig his character Scott Brennan is more reminiscent of Thor, making a spectacle of himself by threatening people with a hammer. He first wields the hammer when he wades into a party to retrieve his teenage daughter Jane. Then when he sees that someone who cut him off on the road is at the next pump over at a gas station, he grabs his hammer again. This is when Brennan learns the folly of bringing a hammer to a gunfight, as his tough guy act at the gas station results in his wife being shot dead and his daughter being deafened by the sound of the shot.
