Everyone’s favorite ’70s movie is making a return to CBS, with a new spinoff of The Bad News Bears currently in development. The series is written by Corey Nickerson, who previously executive produced Black-ish, and co-created Fresh Off the Boat and Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23. The original 1976 film starred Walter Matthau as an alcoholic former professional baseball pitcher turned youth baseball coach. Its massive success spawned two sequels in rapid succession — 1978’s The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training and 1979’s The Bad News Bears Go To Japan. The film was remade in 2005, directed by Richard Linklater and starring Billy Bob Thornton in the seminal Matthau role of Coach Morris Buttermaker. It’s also not the first time the IP will be made into a TV series. Back in 1979, CBS aired a Bad News Bears series for two seasons, starring Jack Warden. But this is the...

The crowd, mostly young women, cheered so loudly you could barely hear the names of the panelists as they were introduced – 19 of them altogether, all female showrunners.
There were so many female executive producers gathered at Twitter’s offices in Santa Monica last night that they had to be arrayed in rows in two back-to-back hourlong panels, and there was a fair amount of networking and drinking during a brief intermission in between. “I’d just like to say that our panel is drunker than the first panel,” joked Chance showrunner Alexandra Cunningham. “If we were men, we’d be talking about fighting the first panel.”
Indeed, the hashtag for the panels was #inclusionandcocktails. You can watch a replay of below.

For all of the progress that movements such as #MeToo and Time’s Up have made in pushing abusers into the spotlight, there is still a long way to go toward a fair and true balance of power.
At the Inclusion and Cocktails female producer event hosted by “The Post” screenwriter Liz Hannah and held at Twitter HQ in Los Angeles on Wednesday, “Counterpart” executive producer Amy Berg pointed out that contracts today still carry rules about what you’re allowed to talk about regarding your time on a show.

The Thursday night comedies are all quite hit and miss this week, as some fail to amuse while still successfully moving their stories forward. The best episode out of the three is probably The Big Bang Theory‘s. Despite not really doing much to move the story forward, it definitely provides the most entertainment. The jokes appear to be growing more explicit as “The Raiders Minimization” continues to explore Penny and Leonard’s relationship. Last week we saw a number of jokes at Penny’s expense and here Leonard continues to act like she is completely stupid.
